Avatar n tn Hi, Hair loss caused by thinning hair cannot be cured, but several non-surgical treatment options are available. Rogaine brand hair treatment products, containing a minoxidil liquid solution, are available over-the-counter in versions formulated for both men and women. Men who suffer from thinning hair may have suitable results with the prescription medication finasteride, sold under the brand name Propecia.

Avatar m tn I am new to this forum. My daughter, now age 21, is over ten years off treatment for ALL. She was high risk with CNS involvement and had to have radiation along with 2.5 years chemo. Her hair did fall out, however, after every one said it would come back, it never really did. Her hair is very, very thin. She worked with young children over the summer and they kept asking her what was wrong with her hair.
1654177 tn?1319838494 Well, it's been 4 weeks since I ended treatment. I'm starting to feel sooo much better! My hair is still shedding all over though. To anyone else out there who has finished, how many months did it take for your hair to stop shedding. It's all over my house, my car, the laundry comes out of the dryer with clumps of hair that accumulated on my clothes, ect. Don't get me wrong, I still have long pretty hair, and I'm so grateful!
Avatar n tn “Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use PROPECIA and should not handle crushed or broken PROPECIA tablets because the active ingredient may cause abnormalities of a male baby's sex organs. If a woman who is pregnant comes into contact with the active ingredient in PROPECIA, a doctor should be consulted. PROPECIA tablets are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets are not broken or crushed.
Avatar n tn Age of 24, take propecia. My sexual desire dropped, no morning erections, and my ejaculate volume noticeably decreased. After a month, and a horrible sexual experience, I through out my propecia. Now 30, don’t get morning erections. Rarely wake up and find my penis a bit enlarged....but this is a rare event. My sexual desire has greatly diminished, and if it was a 10 before propecia, I would say it’s now a 5.
Avatar m tn According to the site - https://parsamohebi.com/hair-loss/medical-treatment/minoxidil-rogaine/minoxidil-faq/ - it says it shouldn't be used by women during pregnancy. It also says this: Can my husband use minoxidil during my pregnancy? Current studies do not preclude minoxidil from being used by men while their partner is pregnant. The amount of minoxidil that would be excreted in the male semen is likely negligible.

Avatar n tn Help. My wife accidentally took propecia (3 mgs over 2 days) thinking it was something else. We are planning on having kids soon. Can there be consequences to a future pregnancy from this mistake? How long will the propecia stay in her body?
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like an irritant contact dermatitis or an allergic reaction to the Rogaine and you should stop the treatment. Instead you can go in for oral finasteride. Considering your symptoms male pattern baldness is an important possibility. Finally one can resort to hair transplantation also. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS, and I would just like to say thank you to everyone, I feel so much better reading everyone's stories and experiences, it lets me know I'm not alone. While I have many nasty symptoms from PCOS, my thinning/balding hair seems to be a big problem. I have probably lost almost half my hair at this point (almost all of it from the top of my head and hairline).
Avatar n tn m on propecia...however, my doctor (being pretty cool), prescribed me 5mg Finasteride (i.e. Propecia). I split the pills in half, which is pretty close to the dosage for Propecia. The bottle lasts me two months, and costs me $5 because finasteride is covered on my insurance. I'm 28 years old, soooo....the insurance company DID need my doctor to verify the prescription. But like I said, he is cool :) See if your doc will hook you up the same!
Avatar n tn I even considered using Rogaine on my face where the beard is weak. But I really would appreciate a response. Thanks in advance.
