384150 tn?1399904816 Has anyone with a short luteral phase used the natural progesterone cream and found it helpful??
594293 tn?1222655980 Yummy?! Lol.....well, I don't know about taste testing it! It's actually a natural progesterone cream. I suppose if I have one of those 'menopausal moments', I could try eating it for SUPER fast results!! (Just kidding.....please kids, don't try this at home...wink wink). Seriously though, it's a cream that the local health food store sells. It is supposed to be a very natural alternative to Rx progesterone. I have purchased a bottle but have not yet tried it out.
Avatar f tn I am not 100% positive but im pretty sure that you can only get this with a doctors prescription. I used prometrium pills that were prescribed to me and had no side effects. I hear the creams are super messy. Good luck!
Avatar n tn t prescribe anything until more bloodwork the next time I was pregnant I took matters into my own hands a little and decided to use progesterone cream as I had read a lot about it and saw the positive effects... Most likely the reason I've held onto this one so far I'm only 4 weeks 2 days and progesterone level was 16.11 they want above 20 and hcg was 295... Now they called and prescribed promethium 4x a day and I pray to god that this helps!!
233053 tn?1321643821 I used to have midcycle spotting all the time. So, I started using a progesterone cream. I got pregnant with using that last year and had my son Cooper in June, but he passed away in July due to a heart condition.None of this was due to progesterone, just to clear that up. So, this time around I made my doctor start me on Rx progesterone so I would not fight with the spotting again. It will work... sometimes are bodies just do not work fast enough.
439903 tn?1380137882 placenta) starts producing its own progesterone till you have at least two progesterone tests. For example, at 4 weeks my progesterone was 13.2 and a week later it was 35.2. The whole time I was injecting 1/2 cc PIO. So, since the # went up my body started producing some progesterone. Despite that, I will be doing PIO shots for the whole first trimester. I want to say that about 50% of women after ivf do PIO shots and 50% do suppositories. I think it's dr's preferences.
Avatar f tn Prometrium is to help raise the progesterone to aid in implantation of the baby. It is taken the day after Ovulation and till the period occurs. Now as it raises the progesterone it can delay your period if you are not pregnant as during the luteal phase (after ovulation) your progesterone will decrease and estrogen levels will rise talling your body to shed the uterine lining causeing yoru period to occur. When you take suppliments the progesterone stays up and may not fall till stopped.
1319297 tn?1274794630 s and am hypothyroid) And it was able to help my body get my progesterone level back to normal. I had tried progesterone cream, then Prometrium, and then progesterone suppositories, but nothing worked. I kept getting progesterone levels around 4 or 5 at 7DPO. But the month I added maca (& took Prometrium, too), at 7DPO it was 17.5! I highly recommend it! It's an adaptogen so it gives you the right amount of whatever you need to balance hormones and help the thyroid to function optimally.
935576 tn?1246071706 I am currently 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant. I started taking progesterone cream shortly after ovulation to maintain my pregnancy as I suffered from a miscarriage last October. Has anyone had positive results using natural progesterone cream while pregnant?
Avatar n tn My 2nd son, who is now 1, was conceived 3 mths after our first son. I also took progesterone with him but it was the progesterone cream. So I have had successful pregnancies with the progesterone. I hope everything works out for you. Good Luck!!
282955 tn?1394730951 Your progesterone numbers look great! so I doubt that you would need it.. most of the time low progesterone or luteal phase defect would show up on cd21 bloodwork, and have a short luteal phase.. i had spotting starting around 10dpo when my progesterone was low... you can buy progesterone cream otc, but not prometrium that i'm aware of! those are great numbers though! good luck!
377493 tn?1356502149 most of us have been on it.. usually suppositories... I used it with this pg and with the last one...
Avatar f tn What kind of progesterone are you taking. I'm taking a vaginal cream called Crinone. I feel pretty good with it. Just extra tired than before i was taking it.
Avatar f tn I took progesterone (same as prometrium) in oil shots (IVF) - not fun but definitely worth it - until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Miranda, are you pregnant? did I miss the big announcement?
359142 tn?1321120923 I was using it with my last pregnacy (from ovulation and got a bfp) but when I went to have my blood levels checked my progesterone was only 5.8. They put me on prometrium and 2 days later it was over 40. So the creme, ummm, didn't seem to do anything for me. I bought some off Amazon and got some at Whole Foods.
Avatar f tn I have used the progesterone suppositories, the prometrium which I am taking now and the cream. They do all bring up the progesterone but if you are ahving contractions the cream is best to sue along with the pill as it goes directly to wher you need it. The pill goes through your system first and through your liver then to your uterus. So you have to ahve blood work to make sure you are on the right ammount. This is my 7th pregnancy and I have had 4 pre term babies.
922048 tn?1387942584 I tried for a few months to get my progesterone level up, first w/the natural progesterone cream, then with Prometrium, then w/the suppositories. It seemed like nothing was working which didn't make any sense. Then in March I added a supplement called maca root. In case you haven't heard of it, it's an adaptogen that helps your body make the right amount of everything it needs.
Avatar n tn I spoke to my doctor and she switched me from the 100 mg. oral Prometrium to a 50 mg. compounded progesterone cream and I can play with the dose to work for me. I started on a very small amount and I felt much better than with the oral Prometrium. This is tricky business, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
8987249 tn?1404774097 Hi ladies - I'm about to stop using the Crinone 8% progesterone cream (when I hit 12 weeks this weekend), and I'm curious if anyone had bad results from stopping (or if things were fine). I'm nervous to stop using it!
907699 tn?1251630847 I am on 50mg of progesterone suppositories that have to be made at a compounding pharmacy. I get mine shipped and they are working cuz my temps have gone up. The suppositories go straight to the area needed from what I hear.
623920 tn?1276478891 I am taking prometrium to help support the pregnancy (if i am). I usually take provera to start my cycle because i am irregular. I believe you can take prometrium to do the same. I am wondering if i am not pregnant if my af will start while i am on the prometrium. I am not sure if the test they are doing is quantitative. Maybe they are just interpreting the numbers and telling if i am pregnant or not.
Avatar f tn Maybe I will ask him to add prometrium in addition to crinone. Originally he had prescribed only prometrium but it was a vaginal suppository. I did not know you can get those in pills, maybe I should ask for that ita17 - Thank you for sharing, I am glad it is working. As I had a failed IVF, I am trying to analyze every aspect so that I have a success next time.
Avatar f tn I have pills called Prometrium. I have heard that the cream is actually better/more effective. After doing more reading up on progesterone I have found this information: progesterone is necessary to keep the uterine lining thick. If your uterine lining thins out (progesterone goes down) then you will eventually miscarry. So it's good that we're on it!
760797 tn?1303264540 t have any research done on the difference in dose between progesterone supplements for what you are using vs bc pills and the difference. AND I'm not trying to minimize the risk factors that are present in bc pills. I just thought I'd make the comparison as if you have had bad experiences with the progesterone in birth control pills it may also be something to consider.
652899 tn?1284047173 If some of you ladies who are taking progesterone can post name and strengths i would be so appreciative. I was not on any supplements following my IUI and if this round didin't work I was thinking I would ask my RE to perscribe one but I want to see which maybe covered under my insurance. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, the major clinical studies conducted compare estrogen-only to estrogen + progesterone. There haven't been any studies comparing daily vs every other day dosing of prometrium.
Avatar f tn Also, I am going to try this month adding natural progesterone cream to the mix starting 2 days post ovulation. There is alot of information about that on the net. My RE also jump started follicle growthy for me (which for me didn't work, but might for you) with either menopur/clomid or menopur/femara, and I got as many as four follicles in a month.
