Prometrium vs endometrin

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium vs endometrin

prometrium

1370609 tn?1306380021 Yes. If your progesterone is low, Doctors will usually give you some type of progesterone to prevent misscarriage. Good luck.
1272624 tn?1395434357 HI Mel, Cramping is normal, are you taking Prometrium? I always had lots of side effects, felt preg, so I switched to Endometrin which has less side effects. My side effects with Prometrium was bloating, cramping, sore breast, etc. I think you should take two, one every 12 hours, because with only taking one, my AF does arrive, but taking two, it stays away like it is supposed to. Then you have a beta and if beta negative, you go off of progesterone and af arrives in 1-2 days.
Avatar f tn I went through an ovulation induction cycle and was put on prometrium (progesterone) to support a healthy lining. I am now 20 days past ovulation, no period, and three negative home pregnancy tests (it is now day 33 of my cycle and I am typically a 28 day cycle, like clockwork). I talked to the doctor today who told me to stop the prometrium and I should expect my period in 2-3 days.
652899 tn?1284047173 I am on Prometrium 100 mg suppositories used once a day at betime. I start this 2 days after IUI. Good Luck!
1110747 tn?1295844043 I took prometrium until 12w and everything is going good. Good luck!
Avatar n tn estrace 2x vaginally, endometrin 3x vaginally, PIO shot 1x. After 2nd beta results, my RE changed me from endometrin to prometrin 2x orally. After today's 3rd beta, my RE added another PIO shot. Has anyone had any of this? Any advice would be great!
901431 tn?1242066034 The progesterone is alright but normally they like to see it higher but that can be fixed with prometrium or any progesterone supplements. Here is a chart from American Pregnancy shows levels. The important thing is that they double every 48 - 72 hours.

Avatar f tn Unfortunately, the major clinical studies conducted compare estrogen-only to estrogen + progesterone. There haven't been any studies comparing daily vs every other day dosing of prometrium.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I have been TTC for 1 year and 1/2. I have had 2 miscarriages, both at around 6 weeks. I was transfered to a fertility clinic late last year. The fertility doc wants me to take 400g of prometrium from 4dpo to 13dpo. He says it doesn't matter whether I'm pregnant or not as the progesterone only helps during implantation and according to him stopping if I am pregnant will not have a negative effect as a valid pregnancy will generate enough progesterone on its own.
623920 tn?1276478891 I am taking prometrium to help support the pregnancy (if i am). I usually take provera to start my cycle because i am irregular. I believe you can take prometrium to do the same. I am wondering if i am not pregnant if my af will start while i am on the prometrium. I am not sure if the test they are doing is quantitative. Maybe they are just interpreting the numbers and telling if i am pregnant or not.
Avatar f tn It is hard to say how your body will react to the Prometrium because every woman is different. But from experiences I have read, Prometrium can tend to cause breakthrough bleeding / spotting but maybe that won't be your case. Would a lower dose of Provera maybe do the trick without such heavy bleeding? Being that you are 58, it would seem you should not have to deal with this for too much longer. Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn Maybe I will ask him to add prometrium in addition to crinone. Originally he had prescribed only prometrium but it was a vaginal suppository. I did not know you can get those in pills, maybe I should ask for that ita17 - Thank you for sharing, I am glad it is working. As I had a failed IVF, I am trying to analyze every aspect so that I have a success next time.
Avatar f tn if we can just do away with the Endometrin suppositories. SO MESSY and ANNOYING. Yuck yuck and YUCK. I liked the little skittle-like Prometrium WAY better! Good Luck to all the ladies out there. Thank you for responding to my question. I have a feeling I will stick around this forum for a bit. Nice to see a group going through similar situations as opposed to my ridiculouslly supportive friends...
Avatar f tn As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day. I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
377493 tn?1356502149 So I have now been on Prometrium (orally, 300mg a day) for about a week. I have looked it up on the web, and all the sites related to it say to take it before you are pregnant, but not to take while you are pregnant. I am completely confused. My OB prescribed it knowing absolutely I was pregnant, and has me on it up until the end of the first trimester. Also, it seems the symptoms mimic pregnancy symptoms. Has anybody had a negative outcome using this drug?
1169053 tn?1278116232 I agree, I had a hard time with the suppositories until I switched to Endometrin. I would highly recommend them if your doc will prescribe them. I felt so much less stress about having to use progesterone after I started using Endometrin. It's super easy, no mess, no irritation.
1451776 tn?1294612670 s the regular discharge from the endometrin inserts. My beta is on the 30th Sep. Has anyone had this type of spotting just one time??
Avatar f tn As such I dont see any blood outside but when I insert endometrin I see blood on it. happening from past 2 days. Also there is a white mucus kind discharge I am not sure wht it is. I am just so afraid nw. feel something bad is going to happen.Did anyone face this? I am about 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant now. All my levels are good. No pbm with tht. Also on 5 weeks scan saw Scan so not even ectopic.
359142 tn?1321120923 I thought about vitex, but did research and decided against it. I have regular cycles and ovulate, so I'm worried it would mess up my cycles. I am on progesterone...I've had 3 m/c and low progesterone with all, tho probably more of an egg issue I'd assume bc of my age.
377493 tn?1356502149 I was going to suggest the same as Christine...right before work, right after work and at bedtime. As for how far in, i would try to get it as close to the cervix as possible. I used prometrium vaginally once after an IUI (and crinone in my IVF cycle), and that's what I did. And yes, I would wear a pantyliner, because it can cause some creamy, yellowy discharge. Good luck!
166487 tn?1351905651 Yea I had the Hsg in sept of last year and it didn't bother me at all. But the saline sono was a little crazy. Kinda bummed I didn't get any answers. Have you used Endometrin 100mg Pregesterone suppositories. I start those this week as well. If so did you have any side effects from them. Thanks for your time and info.
Avatar f tn Yes I am taking medications endometrin 3x daily and vavelle patch as well as prenatal vitamin. They took blood yesterday to check the estradol level haven't heard back yet. I was told that endometrin can cause spotting but as the days go on it is getting slightly heavier and I am getting more nervous.....I'm afraid that IVF didn't work...
901431 tn?1242066034 ) also ive been feeling cranky is that a good or bad sign ?
