prometrium vs clomid

I am taking prometrium to help support the pregnancy (if i am). I usually take provera to start my cycle because i am irregular. I believe you can take prometrium to do the same. I am wondering if i am not pregnant if my af will start while i am on the prometrium. I am not sure if the test they are doing is quantitative. Maybe they are just interpreting the numbers and telling if i am pregnant or not.

They have done ultrasound, pap smear and it says i having pco with fibroid. I still bleeding with 3-4 clots per day.I'm 29 now,I think I am too young to be in menopause.How can i stop this abnormal thing? Do i really need D&C or i should take one more course of prometrium 200 mg until it stops? Can you please tell me what is going on? Thanks in advance.

Another question.... can Clomid be used on someone that has irregular or absent periods??

I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes. I stopped taking the prometrium th week before I called her.

Hi guys, so I am currently at 8dpo, I took 50mg clomid cycle day 5-9 and have been on 200mg x2 daily of prometrium orally since 3 dpo. I know that sore boobs and nausea can be from the prometrium, and fatigue, which I have had plenty of... But today I got up to let my doggies out, and as I was moving around I felt really dizzy... Is this the prometrium or could it be an early symptom?

I would have to say yes. I took Clomid and then after I o'd I started on 200mg of Prometrium. It made me feel like a basket case, but it did the trick! Be careful with progesterone I just found out I have a cyst because of it. I am worried that the cyst will cause me to miscarry. Why can't it be easy??? We need a large amount of progesterone to sustain a pregnancy but yet it can still back fire, this just crazy to me! Good luck!

I am understand what you are feeling right now because i am in the same boat as you. I have my 2nd IUI done on 5/8 and since 2DPIUI i don't feel good at all. feeling tired and cranky. I want to hope that i am pregnant, but dare not to think about it because i have been thinking about being pregnant each cycles and turn out to be a BFN. :-( Today is my 5DPIUI and i don't have any symtoms yet except feeling tired and irritablity. Do you take Prometrium? could be from that.

iam on 3rd cycle now...my doctor give me 50mg clomid for 2cycles and for 3rd cycle also she is giving me clomid 50mg.......iam taking clomid 50mg from 3rd day to 7th day of my cycle and from 22nd day of my cycle to 28th day iam on prometrium...my doctor asked me do pegency test on 29th day and if it is negitive she want me to stop prometrium and wait for my periods...this is what ihave done for last 2 cycles and i doing the same thing for my 3rd cycle also.......

For the last few months I have been super late getting AF and have had to call my doctor about getting put on prometrium..Well he said if I am still not having my peroid with out prometrium he will need to put me on Clomid! I thought that was a fertility drug! I would love to get pregnant but have never heard of that being used to help get peroids regulated! I am agian late for AF this month. Due on the 18th and no sign of it comming! light crampiness but nothing else!

Hey Girl, first of all did you do any hormones with your IUI .... clomid/fsh shots/ trigger shots.... Is your ovulation being monitored via Ultrsound and LH levels???

my 5th IUI (3rd on Clomid) ended with a BTN, but still no AF. wondering if the prometrium might delay my AF. I stopped it 2 days ago but still no sign of AF. I did blood test today but won't know the result till tomorrow, just to confirm the failure. I am really fed up with the trying and no knowing what could've gone wrong. I remove them in Nov. 09 and have been trying to concieve ever since. I was on clomid briefly last year and decided to stop for a while because I needed a break. I went back to the same RE in Jan 11 and started clomid again which I have been on for the past 5 months. He does monitor me with 2 blood tests per cycle, one at ovulation and one a week later and an ultrasound at ovulation (always found 3-4 follicles on each side and said my uterus looks good.

I was also on estradiol to help with my cervical mucus which Clomid tends to dry up. I was also on prometrium to make sure baby had a nice lining to implant into. Is your doctor going to monitor you with labwork and ultrasounds to ensure Clomid is working for you? You can test for preg the first day of a missed period. Clomid works great for some women and not at all for others. Do not be disappointed if it takes time.

We've been TTC for 10 mths and I started with Clomid and Ovidrel in December. I had a Progesterone test on Day 21and my levels were low so my RE started me on Prometrium (3 doses of 100 mg). My cycle is typically 28-30 days. Today is day 33 and still no AF (I had a blood test yesterday and it was negative). Does Prometrium delay AF?

Hi your temp will spike with the clomid because of the hormones, you didn't miss ovulation. most people o between cd13-16 . I do not temp while i'm on clomid or prometrium it gives you a false high. I start temping four days after my last pill, that's when i start taking opk's too. I take it cd3-9 though. I know this is very frustrating!

last shot on may 1st,2009 and my ob/gyn dr told me to start clomid on june 1st. now the question is, when can i start trying to concieve at this point... i know that the week after taking clomid is the expected time to try, but knowing that i havent had a period yet, is that possible. or when is it gonna be possible? after my first period maybe? im confused.

I currently start taking prometrium right after ovulation. For those of you that took baby asprin, I am wondering if you took it just after ovulation, or waited until you knew you were pregnant. I ovulated this week, so I don't want to hold off taking it until I see her if I should be starting it right away. My old OB wasn't very clear on the "when to start".

hi everyone i have a question for you guyes i am trying to get pregnent and my doctor give me 100 mg clomid day 3 to 7 i ask her to low dose she said thats not too much and she also give me estrodial and prometrium estrodial day 8 to 13 prometrium day 17 to28 i am using clear blue easy digital ovulation kit today is day 12 on my period i am taking early morning test can any one tell me when to cheak please help me this is my first round and i also have a very regular period

Some get their periods anyway, but other have to stop taking prometrium before AF shows. They usually tell you to take it until you take a pregnancy test, then if positive, you'll continue to take it, and if negative, you'll stop. Best of luck!

This is my first time posting a question so bear with me. I'm a 24 y/o F who has been trying to get pregnant since last April. I have very irregular and missed periods so my Dr. put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet.

Gave up all hope quit all meds got divorced lost 60lbs found someone new told him we would never have kids i was preg 8 mnths later rushed to a high risk obgyn had every test in the world done found out i dont produce enough progesterone gave me vaginal prometrium i have a healthy 11mnth old son. I am also currently 11wks preg on prometrium again praying all works this time as this is my last one im getting to old now.

Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!

Right now I am CD45 and just put on Prometrium. I had blood work done and found I have no HCG levels and progesterone levels were below 10. I am really hoping for an AF visit but I was wondering has anyone used Prometrium to get pregnant? I was thinking if it is for increasing your progesterone level during pregnancy and it can also be used to help you ovulate. Can you get pregnant by being on Prometrium?
