Prometrium levels

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium levels

prometrium

I had an intrauterine insemenation done on saturday morning. The doctor prescribed prometrium because my progesterone levels were low with my first child. My daughter is 14 mo old and I'm still breastfeeding (supplementing) her about 2 hours per day. Has anyone else been put on prometrium after an IUI and still breastfeeding? Any experience/advice would be helpful.
Hello, Prometrium is a form of progesterone. Progesterone plays a key role in supporting the development of an early pregnancy. It is secreted by the corpus luteum from the time of ovulation till the following 35-47 days. Thereafter, the placenta takes over the job of progesterone production. Some ob/gyn's will give progesterone to women who have had recurrent losses, although there is no evidence in the literature showing it is beneficial.
Thanks a lot.
I have a quick question why did my doctor put me on prometrium (which i've ALWAYS taken in the past to basically force a period out of me when i hadn't had one in months) recently to help w/ my progesterone levels? I am about 6 weeks along and had a miscarrriage in june due to deathly low progesterone levels hints why they look action so quick and put me on this pill.
prometrium most likely didn't cause the problem doctors put ppl on it for numerous reasons i am taking it now and was told to help keep the pregnancy but it can only help with a healthy pregnancy if it's in danger of a mc or a mc has already started the prometrium is isn't going to work.
She ran a complete lab profile on me and everything was pretty normal except my hormone levels. My progesterone was very low as was my testosterone. She started me on Prometrium 100mg 12-28 of my cycle. I felt great on my 1st round, slept great, confident, no more foggy brain. So now I'm on day 4, not on anything and all the previous symptoms are returning with a vengeance. Is this a side effect or do I just need to buckle down accept it and count down the days to 12 for relief again.
HI everyone I am 3 weeks pregnant and my doctor said my progesterone levels are low and prescribed Prometrium for me to take vaginally until I am 10 weeks pregnant, I am worried because I read up on the drug and there seem to be some serious side effects. Can anyone share their experiences with me?
For my irregular periods my doctor told me to start taking the prometrium 2 capsules 200mg for 10 days every month. I have being doing this now for 7 months and have had very regular periods. My question is because I am now having a period every month does that mean I am ovulating? Could the prometrium be helping me at all with my fertility?
My ob/gyn has put me on Prometrium to help regulate my menstrual cycle. My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels. This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant. I still have not gotten my period, and I am 3 days late.
If your miscarriages are in fact from low progesterone then the prometrium will help. My levels were 13.8 for progesterone. Not sure how much the prometrium helps. I'm actually on something called Crinone which is taken vaginally. I only take it at night but I know that some women take it twice a day. I'm not sick at all either. Just sleepy and a little dizzy. Hang in there and stay positive.
my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?
Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at 2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week.
this is my fourth pregnancy and have one child who will be one next month. i have taken prometrium every pregnancy and again now. my doctor told me my levels were hcg 698 but prog was 6.3 not good. i hope it will be ok. can't handle another loss.
Hi Everyone< I found out I am 3 weeks pregnant, my doctor said that my progesterone levels were down and prescribed prometrium, I am a bit worried because I was reading up on it and saw some possible bad side effects. As far as Cleft and heart problems with the baby. Is there anyone that can share some info with me who have taken prometrium while pregnant.
Does anyone know what your progesterone levels should be while on prometrium? Mine at 8 DPO was 36, and I am thinking I don't need to be on as high of a dose??
I am freaking out now, because my doctor called and told me my progesterone levels were low and that he wanted to prescribe me a supplement to boost it up and that I would need to take it into my 12th week until my placenta took over. I was cool with that, but then I pick the prescription up and the bottles say do not take if pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day. I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
I would defentily ask them to check your progesterone levels when you go back. Keep in mind that these inserts do not usually register in your blood.
I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes. I stopped taking the prometrium th week before I called her.
My progesterone levels are low so my doc puts me on progesterone (prometrium suppositories) right when we do the IVF transfers and wants to keep me on them for 3 mos into a pregnancy. It does help support a pregnancy with keeping the lining thick enough if you're having low levels. You may want to check into a fertility specialist if you haven't already. Good luck!
Many, many women on these forums have taken prometrium in early pregnancy to increase progesterone levels. I read the warnings too and was concerned with the pregnancy warning but my doctor assured me that it can be taken if prescribed to sustain a pregnancy. It turns out that I didn't need it but my fears were the same as yours.
Anyways, I promptly started prometrium last month and unfortunately I wonder if I took the suppositories to late because I ovulated on the 9th and did not start prometrium until the 11th at night (200mg). This is when I found out about my progesterone levels. Well I waited and waited and my period was delayed I took 4 pregnancy tests and all read a neg. So I stopped taking prometrium and by night I was bleeding.
As some of you remember I posted a question about prometrium last week. I got some blood work done and this is my update. Tomorrow I will know if I am going to start on Prometrium or with something else. I just got my blood work results today and they read as follow: 10/23/2008 Test Results Units Flag Low High MT Progesterone 10.
So I have now been on Prometrium (orally, 300mg a day) for about a week. I have looked it up on the web, and all the sites related to it say to take it before you are pregnant, but not to take while you are pregnant. I am completely confused. My OB prescribed it knowing absolutely I was pregnant, and has me on it up until the end of the first trimester. Also, it seems the symptoms mimic pregnancy symptoms. Has anybody had a negative outcome using this drug?
I won't get the results for a couple of days (have to send it out of state because of insurance). In the mean time my dr gave me a perscription of prometrium, 100mg per day oral form. I have done some reading and I guess my concerns are that she didn't perscribe me enough and that I may be starting it too late to save this baby. Does anyone know if my perscription is too low.
The nurse called and said the dr would like me to take prometrium 200 mg sup. 2 times a day. I picked the prescription up and was a little worried when I started reading through the info that accompanied my prescription. The side effects don't bother me as much as the possibility of stoke, heart attack or blood clots. Also I'm in the tww and may possibly be pg. I know the RE would not prescribe anything that she didn't feel necessary but I am still nervous about taking it.
I am going to ask the dr if I should continue taking the Prometrium.
As for how far in, i would try to get it as close to the cervix as possible. I used prometrium vaginally once after an IUI (and crinone in my IVF cycle), and that's what I did. And yes, I would wear a pantyliner, because it can cause some creamy, yellowy discharge. Good luck!
0 or lower your at risk for a preterm delivery. I am measuring 2.2. So she started me on Prometrium that I insert vaginally every night. Has anyone else had to use this and what are the effects? Did it stop your shortening of the cervix? It doesnt effect the baby at all, right??
I have been taking a vaginal dose of prometrium at night before bed now for about a week . My husband was not too shy to mention to me that on a romantic evening together while having an oral sex moment that I happened to taste different. Has anyone ever been told that this medication could make them taste like a copper penny? That would be the only thing that has changed in my daily routine, I just wanna make sure that there is nothing more serious going on with me.
