prometrium late period

My ob/gyn has put me on Prometrium to help regulate my menstrual cycle. My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels. This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant. I still have not gotten my period, and I am 3 days late.

I talked to the doctor today who told me to stop the prometrium and I should expect my period in 2-3 days. I had my hopes up that perhaps I was pregnant because I know some women who have not gotten a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week after the expected period. I think I had my hopes up too much when the period was late when in fact it may have been the progesterone that was delaying my period. Has anyone had experience on progesterone like this?

my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?

I think it did delay when my period started but not that I would get it. Also - the side effects of prometrium are the same as implantation bleeding and PMS - drove me super nuts. I would have sworn I wasn't pregnant the third go round with prometrium but in fact I was - due to deliver in July. Good luck.

m on the last day of my 2 weeks of taking Prometrium to get my period back after Lupron. This morning while I was at a hair appointment, I started to get really dizzy and nauseous, and I felt really weak and faint. Then like 2 minutes later I ended up getting sick in the bathroom and lying on the bathroom floor in the salon with horrible lower stomach pain feeling like I was dying. She had to take the foils out of my hair and wash it out and my husband ended up having to come get me.

Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely. Sunday afternoon had cramping and bleeding. Did not take Prometrium the night before due to being told I was having m/c. I called my OB Sunday. He said to keep taking the Prometrium and have my hcg rechecked Monday. I did. Monday my hcg was 44. My bleeding was only light spotting by then. My Doctor said I was still pregnant-could be tubal, molar, or normal. He did not know.

For the last few months I have been super late getting AF and have had to call my doctor about getting put on prometrium..Well he said if I am still not having my peroid with out prometrium he will need to put me on Clomid! I thought that was a fertility drug! I would love to get pregnant but have never heard of that being used to help get peroids regulated! I am agian late for AF this month. Due on the 18th and no sign of it comming! light crampiness but nothing else!

If you were my patient, I would give you a prescription for Prometrium to take for 5 days. I like Prometrium because if you are not pregnant, it will bring on your period. If you are pregnant, and all the tests are somehow wrong, nothing at all will happen. I would then ask you to wait and see what happens with the next few cycles. Most likely those incredible ovaries will step back up to the plate and your normal cycles will resume. If not, I would start an investigation into why.

I'm 31 days late today. I took a pregnancy test (clearblue digital). it said not pregnant. I took it in the morning. My breast are sore,I have a fluttery feeling in my stomach,I feel sick at night. I have no stress. I also have no insurance to go to the dr. what do you suggest??

When I took prometrium 3 years ago, it took about 12 or 14 days to get my period. I only had one cycle since I got pregnant with my son on the second round. Good luck!!!

Yes, Prometrium does delay your AF. First time when i was on prometrium, i didn't get my AF until CD40.

I was also on Clomid+Metformin+Prometrium. 15 dpo I would have a preg test, if it was negative then I would stop taking prometrium and after 2-3 days af would show up.

My dr. just put me on Prometrium 200mg at bedtime with hope to get my period. Has anyone taken this for similar reason and what was your outcome? We are trying to get pregnant.

t thrilled to learn I had started using a cream, and she prescribed oral Prometrium after my first appt, which I took through week 13 of pregnancy. Just for the record, I'm not advocating doing anything without a Dr's supervision; I'm just telling you what I did. ;-) If you went the official route through your OB/GYN, if you explain your concern and give them reason to believe you may have LPD, I think they would test your progesterone levels at Day 21 of your cycle.

I have taken several HPT where they have come back negative... I took a Blood Test which was negative a well.... and the doctor "says" that everything is normal but I am 6 days late for my period and I STILL have pressure on my lower abdomen??? Can u please help with some suggestions on what to do...

I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

I know Prometrium is more of a natural progesterone and Provera is synthetic, but I have already done 10 days of prometrium and no period came. Ugh...so frustrating! I have not been diagnosed, but I have heard of Metformin. Of the symptoms of PCOS, the only one I have is the absense of a cycle. I will for sure ask about it...it's worth a shot!

Hi! What your doctor told you about your IUD and your cycles and your fertility is exactly what I would have said to you too! And I would have expected your period right on schedule. It may be just an unlucky coincidence that it didn't happen that way. I would also try Provera or Prometrium as a next step to induce a period if it doesn't happen spontaneously and the test remains negative.

I got mine the next day, as soon as I stopped prometrium I started spotting and the next day I got my AF.

I stopped taking birth control pills on June 10th, 2009. I had a period directly afterwards (June 12-17) and then again in July (15th-21st). It is now August 27th... 2 weeks after I expected I would have started menstruating again. I have taken 6 pregnancy tests total (including one at the doctor's office yesterday). All tests are negative :( . I know that it is possible I didn't ovulate this month, but could it be that I am pregnant even though the tests say otherwise?

Often times a very delayed period or missed period can indicate that ovulation did not occur which in turn causes your hormones to be wacky for that month. Your doc can prescribe prometrium to bring on your period.

My doctor put me on Prometrium pills for 10 days to start my period because I was late but didn't ovulate last month. Once my period starts I'm supposed to call the office so they can call in a prescription for Clomid. My question is I'm on day 7 and still no period. I was spotting yesterday but that's it. Should I call the doctor or wait until day 10 to see if it starts? (Day 10 is Saturday.) Has anyone else had to take medicine to start their periods?

Since my IUI i have been on Prometrium twice a day. My question is... will i get a period if not pregnant while taking Prometrium?
