prometrium for missed period

This is my first time posting a question so bear with me. I'm a 24 y/o F who has been trying to get pregnant since last April. I have very irregular and missed periods so my Dr. put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet.

I had an IUI a few weeks ago and then started taking prometrium for ten days. I finished up last Wednesday so it has been 5 days. How long until I should expect my period after my last prometrium?

My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. Can someone help and offer advice? I am going for a 2nd opinion in December with another Ob/Gyn.

My cycle is nowhere to be seen (not totally uncommon for me) and my last period was in mid-December. My OB was fine with giving me an Rx for BC pills to induce a bleed, but when I called the RE's office, she said that I shouldn't start them and that we will talk about an alternate route at the appt. Now I'm just curious what types of drugs they would put me on? Are there stronger injectibles to induce a period?

Often times a very delayed period or missed period can indicate that ovulation did not occur which in turn causes your hormones to be wacky for that month. Your doc can prescribe prometrium to bring on your period.

I took Prometrium for 10 days ending Saturday, and I was wondering how long until I should begin my period? I am so ready to be able to start TTC!!

I have had 2 miscarriages. One in Oct 06 and the second one was in May 07. Both resulted in d&c's. However, I also had to have a repeat d&c's for both because of missed tissue. So, I have had four d&c's in the past year. The last d&c procedure was on Aug. 1. They also did a hysteroscopy to see if there were any abnormalities in my uterus. My dr said everything looked good. There was a very tiny piece of scar tissue that he cut out.

Hi! You have most likely had an anovulatory cycle. This happens to most women from time to time due to stress or for basically no reason at all even. It simply means that you didn't ovulate on schedule, and therefore didn't have your period. The fact that you are having pain is somewhat worriesome for a cyst on your ovary. It is possible to develop a cyst on the ovary that produces hormones and throws your cycle off. An ultrasound would tell you whether this is the case.

I usually test positive as early as 2weeks before my missed period. But I am not preggers yet. I should be ovulating in the next 5 days though... Take fish oil. It is meant to help us conceive. (and make healthy babies) Also, drink lots of water. It can greatly reduce your fertility if you are dehydrated!

I am now pregnant again and have been taking prometrium for 2 weeks now ( I am 5 weeks) and so far so good. we go for an ultrasound in 2 weeks so we are keeping our fingers crossed. Good luck to you all.

My dr. just put me on Prometrium 200mg at bedtime with hope to get my period. Has anyone taken this for similar reason and what was your outcome? We are trying to get pregnant.

my doctor put me on prometrium. 1st month 10 days later i got my period. 2nd month 10 days later i only spotted for a day and no period. Did this happend to anyone? What could it be?

I talked to the doctor today who told me to stop the prometrium and I should expect my period in 2-3 days. I had my hopes up that perhaps I was pregnant because I know some women who have not gotten a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week after the expected period. I think I had my hopes up too much when the period was late when in fact it may have been the progesterone that was delaying my period. Has anyone had experience on progesterone like this?

Hello everyone! I am new here, I hope that you don't mind me posting. I had a missed miscarriage in October followed by a D&C, following that I bled on and off for a month and then got my period. My period has since been very heavy and has quite a bit of clots in it. I also get spotting at randomn times in my cycles. I went to see the doctor today and she prescribed some progesterone tablets to sort out my period.

I am on prometruim on days 14-28, my understanding is that it helps thicken the lining of your uterus and makes you have a period. If I actually get pregnant during a cycle obviously I won't know it until cycle day 28 or so - My question is will taking the prometruim make my cycle start even if I conceive therefore causing an abortion?? Does the prometruim function like birth control causing your cycle to start or will my period only start if I don't ovulate or conceive?

My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels. This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant. I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

My menstrual period is delay for 8 days, I had already three negative pregnancy test and my doctor recommended a blood test, which was negative also. My doctor wants me to wait another 2 weeks and if I don't get my menstrual period, do another round of blood test. I thought the blood test was definetively, if it was negative is because I'm not pregnant. Does anybody have any comments?

I'm 36 and this is my 3rd pregnancy since 07....the other two pregnancies stopped developing at 8 weeks which is call a missed abortion. I opted for the medication instead of the D&C. But anyways here I am again and on the day my period was due I spotted then the next day it stopped. By the third day I had food aversions and nausea so I took the test it was positive.

While taking Prometrium for luteal phase defect, I got several faint positives on home pregnancy tests. But then I began bleeding (light but steady full flow). So I stopped taking the prometrium. I've been bleeding for a few days now--still more than spotting though less than before. But I decided to take another home pregnancy test anyways because something felt funny. Two different brands of test were positive, darker than before but still quite faint. What do I do now?

I got mine the next day, as soon as I stopped prometrium I started spotting and the next day I got my AF.

I have had 3 past m/c, but 3 healthy children since the last one. I found out Thurs. I was pregnant. I called my ob. He started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally per day. I started that Friday night. Sat. afternoon I had some brown spotting. Was checked at ER and everything ok. hcg was 17-they said was very early.They also checked my progesterone level. Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely.

Since my IUI i have been on Prometrium twice a day. My question is... will i get a period if not pregnant while taking Prometrium?
