prometrium and provera

I know Prometrium is more of a natural progesterone and Provera is synthetic, but I have already done 10 days of prometrium and no period came. Ugh...so frustrating! I have not been diagnosed, but I have heard of Metformin. Of the symptoms of PCOS, the only one I have is the absense of a cycle. I will for sure ask about it...it's worth a shot!

I am 58 years old, have had an endometrial ablation, D&C and polypectomy in 2010. I've had 4 biopsies (latest one end of January 2014, 2 sonohysterograms, countless pelvic/TV ultrasounds since. I was given Provera (10 mgs for 5 1/2 MONTHS) last October (2013) to thin the lining. All biopsies no signs of cancer, pre-cancer or hyperplasia. I bled heavily and was so anxious that I felt paranoid. I came off of it mid-March of this year.

I stopped taking the pill a little over a year ago because my husband and I decided to try for a baby. We tried for 7 months with no luck. I went to my ob/gyn and she put me on provera 10mg for 10 days. I started 2 days after my last pill and then started Clomid 50mg days 3-7. I went on day 21 to have my levels tested, found out I did not ovulate. So we tried again the second month, same treatment, started 2 days after my last Provera pill and did the Clomid cycle. Did not ovulate.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in like 5 months. If you don't know me, my husband and I have been trying to have a baby for over two years. I haven't been on because we stopped trying for a little while. But I'm back. This is something I want so bad I can taste it. I'm not ovulating and my OB won't give me anything to induce it. I'm on provera which is supposed to induce my period and that isn't working either.

I am taking Prometrium (extract from yams)....i have also taken Provera and didnt really like it due to side effects....

you take clomid usually cd5-9 or cd3-7, so you have to have a period to know when to take it. you can use prometrium or provera they both induce af. the side effects of prometrium are horrible, i have never taken provera but i have heard good things. you might want to start tracking your bbt to see if you are ovulating.

Hi I take prometrium which is like provera, when i take it anything and everything makes me cry! even if it's not sad or i get so angry i can feel my face get red and my blood pressure go up.

It just finished my last pill on Sat, so now a waiting game. A friend took prometrium for 5 days and had her period 4 days after she took her last pill. Heard it can take up to a week? This is only my 2nd month with RE and 1st time I'm taking any type of meds besides BC. Then RE said she's going to put me on Estrace one my cycle comes? I'm hoping for the best? We also are trying to get pregnant. Isn't so frustrating! Good Luck.

Provera and prometrium can help stop your period, it's the withdrawl that causes a period (so when you stop taking it). I think it depends on your hormones as to how long you cycle is mine only lasts 3-4 days. Really anything over 7 days is abnormal and you should be seen by a doctor. Good luck I hope it gets better.

The next time I needed to go on it I took Prometrium and it worked like 2 days after the last pill and I had no side effects like I had with Progesterone.

daily low dose asprin, 100X3 per day prometrium (progesterone supplement), fish oil and prenatal vitamins. I take all except the prometrium even while not pregnant (we plan to try again as soon as possible). I know it's hard, but stay strong and keep believing. I got to the point I never thought it would happen for me, yet here he is. It's scary but just take it one day at a time!

hey ladies... so I took my last Provera pill 2 days ago and I swear if I didn't have a negative pregnancy blood test last week I would think I was pregnant. I am so nauseous and my boobs hurts! Have any of you been on Provera and had similar side effects? Also, how long did it take for your withdrawal bleed?

2 days again I had to inject myself with Ovidrel 2 days ago and need tomorrow in need to add Prometrium to me. Has anyone use these and gotten success?

I am on my first round of provera to bring on my period so i can start clomid. I have PCOS and i took my 5th provera tablet on the 19/01 and it is now day 8 after the 5th tablet and i still have no period, is this normal or should i go back to the dr. I read that it can take up to 10 to 14 days but my dr said it should only take a week. So im a little confused please help. I really want to start trying for a baby.

I've had 3 miscarriages in the past and my boyfriend and I have den ttc for the last 6 months with no luck. My Obgyn diagnosed me with PCOS and then I did blood work on day 21 of my cycle and they said I didn't ovulate. She wants to start me on prometrium on day 21 of my next cycle. My periods are irregular and sometimes my cycles can be 40-50 days apart. Has anyone been on this medicAtion before? Does it help ovulate?

Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?

I just started seeing a new doctor and she did the same tests and told me that I am not ovulating and my chances of get pregnant are slim to none unless I take fertility medicine. She put me on Provera(the 10 day perscription) and then when I start my period, she wants me to take Clomid days 3-7 of my cycle. I guess my question is has anyone had any luck with this or have any advice? My DH and I have been wanting to get pregnant for almost a year.

She said this could be a cyst or I could be pregnant. She put me on 200 mg of prometrium. She did a Beta and it came back negative but she thought it could have been too early. I still have no af ...So i went back CD 36 for another Beta. I am now awaiting the results. I am wondering if this Beta comes back negative again... should I feel confident that I am not pregnant?

I am not sure about whether or not the cause of the miscarriages were due to the Depo-Provera but I did furthur research and wanted to share some info with those individuals that don't know. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone. I was very young when I took it and didn't get all of the details (ignorance). If I would have known that fact alone, I wouldn't have taken it. If you have a low Progestrone Level it will more than likely cause you to have a miscarriage. Now.....

I have had frequent, irregular periods for over two years and recently (4 months) my husband and I have been trying to conceive but have had no success although I have normal fsh and amh levels. Been tested for PCOS and had a number of ultrasounds. I have taken provera and now have been sent to an infertility specialist for further treatment. I've had a consultation with the REI specialist while I started my 3rd cycle of provera.

I took it like i was supposed. It has been 14 days after my last Provera pill and still no period. What does this mean? I read somewhere on the internet this could be a sign of early menopause. I am 24!! I have also taken a dozen pregnancy test and their negative. I need HELP!!

I was on Provera last year and my AF came 3 days after my last pill. Should I expect the same time frame on Promedium? Has anyone had experience with this. I'm not sure when I O'd for sure so It's hard to know when to stop by that. I started it a couple of days after I thought I O'd. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have always wondered if the suppositories affect the eggs and she thinks that prometrium caps are better. Any thoughts about this ladies? i still have prometrium left over from months ago (100 mgs), and they told me to start that right away and my lovenox. they told me to take one prometrium, but i am nervous so i am taking one in the a.m. and one before bed. i am freaking out ladies! this is so unexpected...i just have the mentality that i am going to miscarry again. i keep going to the bathroom to check for blood all the time. im really trying not to stress about it. i havent told anyone but my best friend.

I seen a OBGYN and he put me on Provera, Clomid, and Metformin. I started Provera and Metformin on 1/15/2011. On 2/7 AF still hadn't showed her face. I called my OBGYN and he told me if AF hadn't shown by 2/9 to take a HPT and if it was negative to start taking clomid. On 2/9 the HPT was negative. I am on my second day of clomid today. My OBGYN said it was possible but not likely to get preggos this month. My question is has anyone else went thru this and conceived without having AF?

Does Prometrium delay or start AF? I've read conflicting things on the web. I took a hpt this morning and got a BFN. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH Sorry had to get that out of my system. I just thought it was a for sure. Folly measured 21mm on the Friday 2 weeks ago...I BD's Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sun.....I'm jreally upset right now. And friggin' TIRED. I dont get my periods unless i take provera and my doc. said that you dont have get your periods to take clomid. I took my 1st dose 2 months ago to get jump start my system and hopefully get pregnant but no luck. Since then no periods... so i was just wondering if anyone has just taken clomid w/out being on their periods.

If you have a "normal" pregnancy then you shouldn't take it if you're pregnant because your hormones are balanced properly to maintain the pregnancy and altering them could be damaging, however if your doctor is using it because you don't have enough progesterone to maintain the pregnancy and/or you need to lengthen your luteal phase then it is actually replacing something you're lacking in the first place so you can get pregnant.

Hi all well 17dpo and no AF in site. I got a BFN at 15dpo. Last time I took the prometrium was 14dpo. This morning my temps are still up. Any idea on how long it takes for AF to show once progesterone is stopped?
