prometrium and pregnancy side effects

A much better product for me with a lot less side effects. It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!

HI everyone I am 3 weeks pregnant and my doctor said my progesterone levels are low and prescribed Prometrium for me to take vaginally until I am 10 weeks pregnant, I am worried because I read up on the drug and there seem to be some serious side effects. Can anyone share their experiences with me?

My progesterone dropped during my 4th week of pregnancy and the doctor prescribed prometrium. I am currently experiencing brief but horrible cramping accompanied with some minor bleeding. I've read the prescription information pamphlet over and over, and that is apparently a side effect. But with my history...I just need to know if anyone else experienced the same while taking Prometrium but still was able to have a healthy baby.

put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet. My breasts hurt and I'm nausous now that I'm NOT taking Prometrium. Wondering if these are normal post medication symptoms or if I might actually be pregnant.

im 11 weeks pregnant and im sick about 3 times a day every one i talk to says sickness is a really good sign of a healthy pregnancy but i cant stand it fingers crossed it goes at 12 weeks like my last pregnancy good luck 2 you xxx

I used it with 2 of my pregnancies and the oral kind with one pregnancy. I didnt have any side effects from any of them. And they are messy, I did mine at night before bed so it didnt leak out and you get the full benefits. Good luck to you.

ve been taking prometrium vaginally twice daily for 13 days now (started the day after my IUI) and on day 10, I started noticing a headache, a dull gnawing sensation on both sides of my head. It is day 14 of prometrium now (CD32) and I am still feeling this. If I bend over to pick up something it hurts even more.

Good Luck to you! I asked my dr. about some side effects when I was on Progesterone and he laughed and said, NO! About the only thing the progesterone will do is make you hungrier. Hope you get your BFP!!

HI Mel, Cramping is normal, are you taking Prometrium? I always had lots of side effects, felt preg, so I switched to Endometrin which has less side effects. My side effects with Prometrium was bloating, cramping, sore breast, etc. I think you should take two, one every 12 hours, because with only taking one, my AF does arrive, but taking two, it stays away like it is supposed to. Then you have a beta and if beta negative, you go off of progesterone and af arrives in 1-2 days.

I'm taking prometrium (200mg) once a day at bedtime post ovulation. I should be 9 or 10 DPO. I've been taking it 9 days. I know that taking this can cause pregnancy symptoms, but my question is: does it build up and intensify as you take it day after day. Ex: my breasts are larger but the tenderness has been very mild, then disappeared, until last night. They were very sore on the sides mostly last night, but then this mornng they are tender all over.

Hormones have all sorts of side effects. The weird thing is my side effects change each time I am on them. The estrogen has made me nausiated once - even on a low dose. I guess this is why every pregnancy is different. My AF was a little delayed but I think that it was because it takes a few days to get those higher doses of hormones out of your system. You can't start until the levels drop to a certain low level.

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

My ob/gyn has put me on Prometrium to help regulate my menstrual cycle. My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels. This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant. I still have not gotten my period, and I am 3 days late.

The only thing that I know about Prometrium is that I was prescried it when I was four weeks pregnant, and then taken off after I was 3 months pregnant. However I have also read that the medication shouldn't be taken at all during pregnancy and I did express these concerns to my doc. I was taking a pill once every night. My doc said that I needed the meds because the baby would not survive if my progesterone levels were not right.

It is my 2dpiui and I started to take prometrium two times a day starting yesterday. I have noticed that my color of urine is different now, its bright yellow...Did this happen to anybody else who takes Prometrium? I think it is because of it, I can't think of anything else though. Thanks! Anya.

I am a bit unsure about the provera due to some side effects? How did you find the prometrium I think its similar.

low progesterone and wants me to take 200 mg of prometrium by mouth at night. I am VERY sensitive to meds and pick out all side effects...I am concerned that i will feel dizzy and that will make me panic-I know i need to take the med for the preg but, if I am dizzy I will be a complete mess-anyone out there NOT get dizzy because that is all I read about it on the internet!!!!!!!

Wow, actually, I had no side effects from Clomid as well, and I had u/s where they saw one mature follicle developed and then trigger shot and then IUI...so I guess I ovulated.. and my lining was good but I guess they still give you that prometrium pill just to keep lining good..

Any side effects? I am waiting on my test results and hopefully they will be open Wednesday so I can get the order and go in for my 2nd Beta as well.

I was on prometrium suppositories until my 8th week to enrich the environment. Both my IVF dr and my OB said it can be discontinued after 8 wks when the placenta takes over. I just went off of it last week and haven't noticed a difference. The dr said it can also interfere with the blood test for nuchal transparency and d/s testing. Good luck!

I took prometrium as well, and in my case it was taken orally. There are still a few side effects - made me a bit sleepy is one that comes to mind, but at least no irritation. In terms of effectiveness my RE says its no different. That might be a good alternative for you to ask your Dr. about. But as Christine says, I wouldn't reduce them or stop them without consultation. The good news is most Dr.'s will have you stop prometrium around 13 weeks.

-( The doc now has me on 5 days of prometrium, I think to facilitate a period and start the whole process over. Anyone know about prometrium being used to facilitate a period? How many days later should it start? Any side effects? Thanks for the help.

s a day though. It brought my progesterone up a lot and the only side effects I had was the headaches. My ended in m/c but not because of the prometrium it was because everything stopped developing probably bad egg. Good luck and I have read lots of women on here that are taking it w/out any problems.
