I am currently 6weeks 5 days pregnant (3rd pregnancy - other 2 ended in miscarriages). We have been having my hcg levels and progesterone levels monitored due to my history with miscarriages. HCG levels were going through the roof for a while with a doubling time of 48 hours. This last hcg test was much lower than I had anticipated due to the others. It had a doubling time of almost 100 hours.
They only took my progesterone levels once after I started the Prometrium to make sure it was theraputic and it was in the 20's don't remember exactly. But they haven't taken it again. But I've had 4 ultrasounds where we have seen baby's heartbeat and everything is well.
Progesterone levels wouldn't have an effect on your hCG levels. They are two different hormones. For example, with my current pregnancy, my hCG levels continutally rose, but my progesterone levels were on the low end. So, during weeks 10-13 I was told to take 200mg of Prometrium orally to help maintain a within normal range level. By taking additional progesterone, this had no effect on my hCG levels.
How far along are you? Did he tell you what your hcg levels were? I had a mc back in Sep ending in a d&c and a natural mc Feb 8th. The levels are supposed to double every 72 hours. If the levels aren't doubling as they should be, then that could be an indication that there is a problem.
But yeah, 24000 hcg is high. I am on Prometrium 200 twice a day and also taking Folgard (high dosage of Folic acid).
Do you have any symptoms? I don't have any, except for some cramps.
215 progesterone:23.5. Then on Feb 10 they were HCG: 1850 progesterone and 32.5 and yesterday Feb 14 they were hcg: 8880 progesterone: 28.5. My doctor called today and put me on the prometrium capsule in the morning as well. Is it normal for progesterone to fluctuate like this.. My doctor likes to see it above 35.. On the most recent blood test my doctor told me my hcg was rising, but my progesterone was had dropped from 12 to , 9 and then 7. I am really worried now. I went in for an ultra sound and they a saw sac but no fetal pole yet. The nurse said I am at where should be at 5 weeks, but I just have to wait and see. My doctor prescribed 200 mg of prometrium once a day. I am miscarrying. Any Answers Would help thank you.
I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago at 3 weeks. My hcg was 60 and then 153 two days later. Progesterone went from 40 to 35. My ultrasound on Tues at 5 weeks showed gestational sac and yolk sac. My hcg is now 8200 which it has been a little more than doubling but my progesterone is 26. My doctor is not worried and said I can take The progesterone suppositories if I wanted to, just so I don't have to worry. Any feedback?
Did not take Prometrium the night before due to being told I was having m/c. I called my OB Sunday. He said to keep taking the Prometrium and have my hcg rechecked Monday. I did. Monday my hcg was 44. My bleeding was only light spotting by then. My Doctor said I was still pregnant-could be tubal, molar, or normal. He did not know. He said Progesterone levels taken previous Saturday would tell if it was tubal or molar. Monday night my bleeding became heavier and red like period again.
I had labs drawn last Thursday September 22 to confirm the pregnancy. My HCG levels were 215 and my proestrogen was 24. They drew my blood again yesterday September 26 as they are planning to watch my numbers more closely this time. They called earlier and my HCG level had went up quite a bit to 1100 but my progesterone dropped slightly to 17. They are having me take Prometrium 200mg twice a day to try and bring the levels up.
A progesterone level of 15 is consistent with viable pregnancy, so your number does NOT rule out pregnancy per se. If you conceive on this cycle, the embryo should implant and start producing HCG at about 10 days, so you could consider doing pregnancy testing as soon as 10 days after the IUI date.

I went to get my HCG and progesteron checked. it was HCG 130 and progesterone 45.8 which is good. But they put me on it just in case. I started seeing a new doctor now and she she is sending me to a specialist for the medicine to see if I really need to keep taking the medication, because it could be harmful to a developing fetus. My appointment is Friday. I am confused and worried about harming my baby. The doctor that prescribed it said I should take it my entire pregnancy.
Hi, I hope someone can answer this question. I am 6 weeks preg., via IVF and have HCG that has doubled and progesterone has been increasing, but the last test my pregesterone went down. Is this a normal fluctation or should I be worried... here ar my numbers:

Nov 08 I was pregnant and my progesterone was very low, I started to bleed so that is why we checked the progesterone levels. They put me on prometrium and my P4 levels went up into the 30's however the outcome of that pregnancy wasn't very good. There have been lots of women with low progesterone levels put on supplements and have carried to term though. Prometrium won't keep you from m/c but will delay it sometimes.
I had my beta HCG done at that time and the levels were 350 and progesterone was 28.5 at 3 weeks and 5 days. Due to some confusion in my OB facility, they did not schedule my next beta until a week later. Then the results were HCG: 4380 and Progesterone: 18. I went back after a week at 5 weeks 5 days for an ultrasound and the doc did see a gestational sac. She was telling she expected to see a Yolk sac by this time. I was devastated.
