Prometrium and drowsiness

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium and drowsiness

prometrium

Oh, I see! Well, this is what it says about prometrium and dizziness online: "Prometrium may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. If you experience extreme drowsiness or dizziness, the doctor may tell you to take Prometrium at bedtime." So I guess it's considered a normal side effect. I hope it works for you, so you can get "back on track" and stop taking prometrium once the five days are up!
My doctor said that this route eliminates some of the drowsiness and other symptoms that could come from taking 200 mg Prometrium orally for 12 days. I have no problem inserting the round pink pill, but I am experiencing some vaginal itching - more on the outside than on the inside. I faxed my doctor with this information and she said that if the itching continues, I need to switch to the 200 mg orally.
I've not had a night of sleep for over 1 year and I've tried everything I can think of to get some help. I read an article which said 300 mg Prometrium every night would help and would be safe. I've been on that regime but feel kinda dizzy all the time - and I'm worried about blot clots etc. My doctor put me on Ogen (estrogen) just last week as I still don't sleep and my hotflashes are making me miserable.
If it keeps my baby alive, then i'll take the chance. I know other people who have taken prometrium throught their prengnacy and had beautiful and healthy babies.
I have now been on prometrium from day 9 - 28 to extend the luteal phase and ensure proper implantation (and will continue on it with positive pregnancy test).
So i had the dip at 97, 97.6, 97.8 and now the 98.2. We bd two days before the dip, the day of the dip and last nite before the 98.2. Do you think i have a chance? and did i definitely ovulate since my temps have been up for 3 consec days? Even if i dont get the BFP...i ovulated!!!! Woohoo!!
I o'ed on either the 25th or 26th of Jan....so I'm 16 or 17 DPO..and 14 days to that and I guess I'm 4 weeks 2 or 3 days...is that right?
Tylenol with codeine is a very common prescription because we have a lot of experience with the agent; it seems to work against a lot of pain types; other than constipation and drowsiness, the agent is well tolerated. A few agents used in the treatment of migraine headaches (ergot compounds) are known to be harmful to pregnancy. Progesterone has a quieting effect on blood vessels and may be helpful to migraine headaches.
I had a problem with oral Prometrium, too, and switched back to the cream.... More later. I totally get the weight issue. It stinks. Hopefully we can resolve that problem....you don't need that for sure.
She gave me prescriptions for two forms. One is the less effective Prometrium, which is very much like natural progesterone and has little in the way of side effects. I experience some slight weight gain, but I also feel better while taking the medication (it is recommended to be taken at night as it can cause drowsiness - which it does, and I sleep like a baby!) There is the added benefit that my menstrual cycles are much more regular while taking this drug.
I am now 9 wks and and also had very low progesterone levels and am now on prometrium (progesterone supp) my levels at the last blood test said 40.3 up from 16 so Dr is very happy with those #'s. At my U/S he said depending on your levels there is a certain % that could miscarry with out the supplement. I think he said below 21/70%, 16/50%, 10/20% etc. So I have just followed his requests and so far so good!
I had my hydrothermal ablation last Thursday (3/25). Today is 4 days post surgery. I had bad cramps for the first few days and took Vicodin for pain management. I have a light discharge but no bleeding. I am experiencing mild to moderate cramps and have switched to Aleve as my pain is not as severe. I am starting to get my energy back. I have a 7 day follow-up appointment this week and will make another post then. I am hopeful that this procedure will work for me.
I took prometrium for 7 days to start my period, and then I took the clomid days 5-9 of my cycle. As soon as my period stopped I BD every other day. I went for progesterone check on CD21. They called and said that my progesterone level showed that I had definately ovulated. I also used OPK's and I did the whole BBT thing.
no symptoms and last time I had symptoms. I was bloated and had cramping and very swollen breasts. This time nothing. I feel like any second I could get AF and should on Monday or Tuesday. Anyone else never have symptoms but test positve with the Dr. Pinkpanter-there is really no knowing when the IVF will work. My worked on the first try but I know people who have tried 9 times. Go for it!
I've had no side effects other than maybe (and I say maybe) a little drowsiness. Other than that, I can go itch free for the night. I can take up to 2400 mgs a day, but haven't reached that dosage yet. During the bad times I take about 1800 mgs a day. Also, during real intense times, I gob mineral ice on my arms before going to bed. I also carry it around with me in the event I have an "itch attack" while I'm out. It's messy but it does the trick for me.
