Avatar n tn Remember, all vegetables are carbohydrates, and carbohydrate foods are the main sources of most of our nutrients other than fat and protein. And by the same token, if someone is taking medication, does it also prevent the absorption of that? Some herbs can do this, particularly those that treat digestive problems, and must be take apart from food and medications for this very reason. So are you creating another problem to treat blood sugar with this method?
594189 tn?1386916607 If you eat a low-fat diet in the hope of losing weight, you unintentionally make the problem worse. If, like millions of women, you have eaten a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet for many years, or followed fad diets, the odds are good that you have become at least partially insulin resistant. Insulin is responsible for maintaining stable blood sugar levels by telling the body’s cells when to absorb glucose from the bloodstream.

Avatar m tn Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks. As for where calories come from... You can find products that have zero carbohydrates, but are still pretty high in calories. A calorie is actually a measure of energy. Basically, everything you eat requires a certain amount of energy to "burn" it completely.

Avatar n tn the thing that helped me the most was something called the specific carbohydrate diet, which is quite strict. i was on it for 5 months -- big improvement in digestion. however, i lost too much weight (i'm quite thin) and it was very incovenient for me. if you can commmit yourself to it, i would highly recommend it. also, water fasting has helped me in the past temporarily. i've done it from one day to about 4 days.
Avatar m tn Digestion problems can be one of the symptoms of hypothyroid as the digestion process slows down and there can be less stomach acid produced. But you do not say that you are tired or easily fatigued, most hypos will notice this first.

Avatar n tn Hi again Abeybaby, Yes, oats are carbohydrates (as are all breakfast cereals like wheat, barley, rice, rye, corn). While all carbos affect our blood sugar (even folks like you without diabetes), "whole grain" carbos are easier on our systems and don't typically cause spikes in blood sugar, because they have fiber to slow the digestion process. Your blood sugars after eating sound normal to me.
Avatar m tn It may be gastritis or ulcer, these are actually two stages of the same process. They both usually start wit H. pylori infection, what causes increased acid secretion and leads toward gastritis or ulcer. It can't be said from the outside, if it is ulcer or not - only upper endoscopy would show that. But before this, just go and have breath test for H. pylori. If positive, it is treated with 2 weeks antibiotics. You can continue with omeprazole, but speak with the doctor about it.
Avatar m tn i agree with ricobord and i want to add that too much water can cause vomiting
Avatar f tn I usually go for a protein shake with a little oatmeal, or 4 ounces of chicken with some quinoa. Some people choose a simple protein bar, but be careful of excessive sugars and fats. Quest bars are usually the best choice since many can pack either a ton of sugar or worse, fake sugars.
Avatar m tn My symptoms also include depression, sleeplessness, and being exhausted, even while I stick to a strict diet of eating no carbs. Symptoms of sever diarrhea have been resolved by taking digestive enzymes. Recently I have had relief from my eye allergies for about 9 months by taking large does of digestive enzymes, but the effects have since worn off. History: I have been tested for parasites many time and results were always negative. Tested for celiac disease, negative.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar m tn I have been overweight for some time and peaked at around 275. I am currently 250. My exercise routine consists of weight training and biking (stationary) for 20 miles 2-3 times a week. I have seen minor differences in my body, such as lost inches on the waist. But lately, it has been hard to lose the weight...I'm staying around 250. I want to focus primarily on losing the fat. I'm already pretty strong (bench 275) and don't really need to get stronger.
Avatar m tn It is however very important that you start with the intro diet, and most of the things during the first phase of the diet (for the phases look on pecanbread.com) is cooked to mush for better digestion, so it should be most gentle for your stomach. Good luck, hang in there!
Avatar n tn I also wanted to add, I hope they are soaking the corn flakes? Anything made into a saluable solution can cause the food to expand in your horses stomach therefore creating numerous digestion/gastrointestinal issues, such as frequent colic.
4630695 tn?1357357910 Just recently, i was diagnosed with slow digestion which gave me bacterial overgrowth. I had extreme diarrhea everyday and sometimes vomiting for 7 weeks before i was prescribed Xifaxan. I immediately started feeling better after the first dose. About two weeks after Xifaxan, i woke up with diarrhea again but just for a day. I was told to take Florastor, i am. After that i was constipated for 6 days until today that i have been going to the bathroom all day.

7628588 tn?1392763151 Your initially stomach aches from carbohydrate hunger. You will urinate copiously as your body wrings out every gram of carbohydrate it can use. But then you'll begin to feel better, more alert, the carbohydrate haze is gone. I felt sharper, less tired in the afternoon. You blood sugar will plummet and the weight will fall off of you. Establish a consistent diet. For instance, fill a snack baggie with various nuts, and when they're gone, that's it for the day.
Avatar f tn Increased water absorption by colon slows down the process of digestion. This decreased appetite can affect the nutrition of any woman and hamper the growth of the fetus. It is recommended that you consult your gynecologist about this loss of appetite and start taking a healthy diet. Do keep us posted with more queries. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar n tn if not that would probably help you. One way to find out for yourself if it is a intolorence is the process of elimination. example: dairy products, onions, garlic, etc. intolorence is different from an alergy and is harder to pin point and most doctors would rather just give you a pill to bandaid it instead of finding the cause. It wouldnt hurt to get checked out to rule out heart problems but once that has been done.
