Avatar m tn Do your symptoms occur at the same time each year? If so, I would think that you are having allergy issues triggering your breathing problems. If that is the case, you should discus starting treating allergies at least 2 weeks before you allergy season starts with your doctor. As Tammy said, the treatment plan your dr has prescribed is standard for an asthma flare. The symptoms won't go away on their own. As you have seen this year, they escalate with neglect.
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
959034 tn?1253671476 I take Prednisone, Symbicort, and Theo-Dur all daily. I use my ProAir only as needed. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Also, dry powder inhalers are hard to use. I would suggest that if you really need a maintenance med that you ask about an Hfa version and get a spacer to take it with. Take care and feel better.
Avatar n tn Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that will slowly worsen. There is evidence to suggest that the regular use of Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol may slow the progression. The best way to slow progression is smoking cessation. The rate of loss of lung tissue in COPD is roughly 3 times as fast for smokers as it is for those who quit. Good luck.
Avatar n tn are you able to get combivent... my doc changed from combivent to Proair which has only one ingredient Albuterol Sulfate...I understand that in July 2013 Combivent will no longer be available...
Avatar f tn Oh yes I have very bad asthma. I have rescue inhaler and a controlled inhaler, proair and dulera. I had to really use my inhaler around 16-25 weeks... I would feel short winded.it's fine. My doctor me it's safe as long as I'm getting oxygen and my baby is getting oxygen there's actual limit.
Avatar n tn Hello Terrikatt, It states you posted your comments 16 hours ago. I think it's time to get a second opinion. Don't know what proair is. I'm guessing it's an asthma medication. Asthma as you know can get quite serious. Perhaps you should seek medical attention for your daughter. By this I don't mean taking her back to the pediatrician. I think you might consider going to your nearest hospital and going to the emergency department.
Avatar f tn Try to relax and know that the meds will work. If I start to get stressed, it takes sooooo much longer to relax and recover. Get a peak flow meter and use it before and after you use the inhaler, this helps to give you a visual that the medication is working and all the feelings are due to stress and anixety. It took me roughly 4 months of that to lose the anixety I felt when I started to get asthma symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have asthma as well and I can't use mine bc it's ranked a C class which could harm the baby.
Avatar m tn Hydrofluoroalkane, or HFA, inhalers use a different form of propellant compared to the older CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) inhalers. CFCs have been found to damage the ozone layer and cause other environmental problems.
Avatar f tn it seems anymore i have trouble being outside and just walking normal without stopping to allow my body to get use to the temperature and getting my breathe. it feels like my throat just swells up or tightens up. the mornings i cough with lots and lots of mucous and i also get these fits when the sun goes down. i also will get them if i take a nap and wake up. it is like the mucous is just building up and i need to cough to get it out.
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
Avatar n tn What will happen if you don't rinse your mouth out after you use the Proventil HFA inhaler?
Avatar f tn Hello ahsas, How do you know you are allergic to asthma medication? If you are asthmatic, you need to be on some sort of asthma medication as the asthma can get worse. See your family doctor asap. I have asthma and I have two kinds of asthma medication that I have to take daily. The ones I take are called Pulmicort ( 2 x a day) and Bricanol as needed. Don't fool around with asthma. Go to your family doctor and get looked at, get evaluated for the proper asthma meds. Good luck.

Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the long-acting bronchodilator has the potential to cause some of the symptoms you experienced due to the Pro-Air™ HFA (salbutamol sulphate) Inhalation Aerosol. This may require some patience on your part. Good luck Be sure that all doctors you see, as well as all family members, are aware of your severe reaction to the antibiotic so that you never again are given an antibiotic remotely related to the one that caused the reaction.
Avatar m tn I got in to see my doctor and he said it was probably asthma and gave me an Advair inhaler to use if this ever happens again. A month later I had a similar episode and I used the inhaler and it didnt seem to help. At least not soon enough. My symptoms eventually subsided. I went back to the doc and he ordered a chest xray, blood tests and heart tests which all came back ok.
Avatar f tn I to am in the same boat as you, i am 50, my husband lost his job in may of this year, and no insurance since the lost, but did sign my daughter up for medicaid for children, and they sent me one too!...
Avatar f tn t want to start prednisone again because 10 day before I finish my pills of prednisone, and even simple exercise also exerts me , how to lose weight ?can someone help ? please..........
Avatar f tn If yes and you are using a dry powder inhaler - you may be like me and react to the lactose they use as the carrier molecule to get the medication into your lungs. Advair HFA, alvesco and any HFA inhalers are lactose free. Puli org, symbicort, any disk inhalers or rotatable ones a Have lactose in them. I did have to fight to get my doctor to believe me and switch my inhaler but proved it once I was off for a few months - improved and then did spirometry before and after taking symbicort ...
