Pristiq withdrawal cold turkey

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq withdrawal cold turkey

pristiq

Avatar n tn Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads. It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head. Frequency varies along day. For 6 hours or so the spasms occur 2 times every minute. I am going insane. Somebody feels like this? I can´t take this anymore and wish I never tried any of these ADs.
983155 tn?1248700406 My cold turkey withdrawal lasted 12 months off Zoloft. You should get back on Paxil and slowly wean off. Anybody coming here telling me it wasn't withdrawal and was reemerging depression can try cold turkeying after 6 yrs use and see how they feel about their perfect pills.
Avatar f tn ve never gone thru this, but you should NEVER stop these types of medications cold turkey, not only is the withdrawal bad....it's dangerous. You need to call your doctor and tell her you want to get off the medication, and she will give you a tapering schedule.

Avatar f tn re probably suffering some kind of withdrawal or side effect. Quitting Effexor cold turkey is pretty nutso, but maybe the psychiatrist felt switching to Pristiq wouldn't present the withdrawal problem because the two drugs are so similar, Pristiq being basically Effexor with some of the molecule cut away. If this is your only side effect so far, it could also be your brain just shedding some stuff, which is what nightmares are.
Avatar n tn If you are weened slowly .Then there isn't a fuss many people not realize you cant cold turkey off of it .That is very dangerous .

I tryed cold turkey and was seeign things that were not there I have headacks from this medication insomnia and very painful pains in my neck and body, I am tired literally and can no seem to sleep enough. Avatar f tn I know quite a bit about butalbital withdrawal. I know it's dangerous to stop cold turkey due to the seizure risk. You've been off for 8 days so you may be beyond a risk now. Rebound headache is a major symptom, along with anxiety. That's why I asked you about Xanax. That would help the anxiety and cover any risk of seizure.
Avatar n tn But did you wean off of it as you introduced the Pristiq? If not you may be having with withdrawal from the Prozac combined with the side effects of starting a new medication. Or it may just be that Pristiq is not for you. Talk to your doctor about these side effects, they're pretty scary and you need to know what to do at this point where medication is concerned. What works for one may not for another. I wish you all the best with this.
3038261 tn?1340919409 Unfortunately my cold turkey quitting of Effexor is theresult of dr error, and is not being monitored because I don't trust a doctor who prescribes antidepressants without a stabilizer for a BP patient even after the patient says he should know better and that the mania has gotten 3x as worse. The reason I'm in withdrawal is because he wrote me a 3 week prescription with no refills and went on vacation.
Avatar f tn I tried tapering and was in withdrawal the whole time. Has anyone gone cold turkey and have advice to get through. I feel like I would rather bite the bullet than spread it out over time.
Avatar f tn Can I quit taking Celexa cold turkey? I have been taking 20mg of Celexa for almost 4 weeks and want to quit taking them cold turkey.
Avatar f tn Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.
Avatar f tn dont stop taking any medicine cold turkey because you could go through withdrawrals and loose the baby.
