I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!
Should I keep taking Pristiq and hope that my weight will stop increasing at some point, and take all the laxative paraphernalia, which I read is also bad for your digestive system if you take it for a long time, or should I stay with 80 mg Prozac and wait to see if I get results? Is it dangerous to change abruptly to Pristiq after 2 weeks of 80 mg Prozac? I have read Prozac stays in your system for over a week, and am concerned that Pristiq will cause serotonin syndrome.
I have gained weight, have a bigger appetite, and now am more depressed than ever.
I came off Lexapro 20mg (was not working anymore) and my doctor put me on Pristiq 50mg and xanax. The pristiq is working good but after a couple of months now I am not so sure. I take the Xanax at night because it helps me sleep.
I am a 45 year old male and suffer from GAD and mild deppresion. Should I try something stronger or seek therapy or what? Has anyone else experienced this or on Pristiq? I feel like I am sputtering out here. Any help very much appreciated.
Your general doc is wrong, of course. This is why you see a psychiatrist. And my guess is, if these drugs are working, your problem very well may be depression, especially if wellbutrin worked -- it's one of the most stimulating of the antidepressants which is why it doesn't cause the weight gain that most antidepressants cause.
t feel it is working for me, I have gained so much weight since I started taking Pristiq and have carb cravings when I did not before. I will be laid off at the end of next month and will no longer be able to afford the doctor visits or medication. I have been waiting for my Dr to get back with me and am looking for alternatives.
Gained lots of weight on Effexor. On Pristiq kept gaining weight plus my period never came back (2 months). Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads.
It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head. Frequency varies along day. For 6 hours or so the spasms occur 2 times every minute.
I was on sertraline for 3+ years but was switch to pristiq and began to take it today. I would like to know what to expect because I tend to panic when I experience any changes in my health. I have also been suffering from allergies for a week and a half and wonder if this will have any effects on the switch.
My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. t on it at all, the only bad side effect was loss of sex drive and libido etc. no weight gain or loss that i noticed. I have bipolar 1, and was on other medication at the time. as you probably know everyone is different when it comes to these types of medication so please don't be discouraged by my comment. My dad was on it for 10 years and said it was the best thing he had ever tried for depression.
on Monday,Sept 5th had an appoitment with Psychiatrist, and after i explained her my symptons,( i also cried,was overwhelmed) she said I had a severe depression, so she also prescribed me Pristiq 50mg one tablet per day in the morning after breakfast. I never took the Pristiq i am scared of the side effects,So all this time since September 3rd until ,now October 13th, I've been only on Clonazepan,I am scared of becoming an addict as I have read these pills tend to be addictive.
That is a side-effect a lot of people have a hard time with when taking anti-depressents; weight gain. Generally the weight gain is limited to 2-3 lbs, if that will ease your husbands mind, but sometimes just knowing about the side affect makes the paranoia about it worse. Zoloft I've heard is actually supposed to be one of the better anti-depressants to be on for weight gain, but it does depend on the person.
special RAPID weight loss diets (few got diagnosed with cancer after successful rapid weight loss), oral contraceptives and secret intense sex life (many girls were living with “amazing boyfriends”) and makeup ingredients (many girls with thyroid disorders are owning “Beauty channels” on Youtube). In my opinion, it is way too much to wear full scale makeup every day for going to school, instead of spending time on healthy and or learning activities.
I went to the pdoc and told him I was interested in trying the new Pristiq, he said it was longer lasting, which is a good thing in my book, but he said thats all he knows about the drug, I was stunned he didnt know any other information!!! So he told me to just stop taking my Effexor xr of .75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .
