Pristiq side effects anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq side effects anxiety

pristiq

Avatar n tn That's a tough question since many drugs can have many different side effects on people. Some more common and some less common. While this might be caused by the Pristiq there's no way to know for sure. You could always call the pharmacist and ask if That's one of the side effects of the drug, but even if it's not listed under the drugs side effects list in the pharmacists directory doesn't mean it's not possibly.
Avatar f tn Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.
Avatar f tn Five years ago, I took Zoloft for anxiety for 6 months. I remember feeling good on it, but the initial side effects and sexual side effects were awful. So, my new doc recommended an SNRI instead. I also have POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). This basically means that my autonomic nervous system does not function properly and my heart rate accelerates when I stand or stand for long periods of time.
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin made me horribly agitated all the time. OMG! I hated it! Paxil worked, but I hated the sexual side effects, like most SSRI's. Buspar is a drug approved for anxiety, without the sexual side effects.
Avatar m tn This was in the hope that maybe I could reduce or get off Wellbutrin (memory problems) if the Pristiq did not cause sexual side effects. I have been on Pristiq for a month and a half now. The transition was seamless. Within two weeks, I was no longer clenching my jaw and stopped using the mouth guard. I am also seeing a lessening of the sexual side effects. I did not have any of the sweating or dry mouth, but that may be because I have been on an SNRI for awhile and my body was used to it.
Avatar f tn is anyone taking pristiq? my depression is lingering on since my fathers death in sept. the doc added abilify 1mg and i felt better. then i felt the depression slipping back. the abilify was increased to 5mg. but i developed serious side effects. so now i'm on pristiq 50mgs . i've been on lexapro 20mgs for about 5 years. the doc has me down to 10 mgs lexapro for 1 week then stop it completely. my concers are. i know nothing about this med.
7650348 tn?1393006631 He acts like the side effects are made up, yet I have been prescribed alprazolam for the anxiety ? When the anxiety was why I was seen by him! How long until I can safely lower my intake of alprazoloam? I have called him twice, still no call back. I told myself at 30 days to cut the .5 in half in the am, and 1.5 mg of alprazolam at bed and after that nothing in the day, 1 mg at bed. After that lowering my alprazolam every 30 days by .25 leading to no drugs at all.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.
Avatar n tn Hi- I am currently withdrawing from Effexor, which I was given to taper off Pristiq. Because Pristiq comes in the 50mg dose, there is no good way to come off it. It is essentially the same as Effexor, which is notoriously hard to withdraw from. My psych said that 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. If you jumped from this dose or higher, I would expect to have withdrawal for at least 3 weeks, maybe longer. At least you will probably have depression and anxiety.
744415 tn?1243953376 m not anxious all the time, my mood swings are way better and I can focus and remember things more now. My dr. also said that the Pristiq has the least amount of sexual side affects than any other anxiety med out there, but that is the ONE thing I'm having the worst side affects with. Is there anyone else who takes this and how do you feel about the med?
Avatar f tn You have to look at anxiety as being like any other medical condition requiring daily medication to control the symptoms and not dwell on any side effects. These are the only medications we get so hung up on the side effects with. If you were diagnosed with another condition like Diabetes...you wouldn't worry about the medication needed to control it and this is no different! None of us want to take medication but for many...
Avatar f tn Either medicine (bupropion or pristiq) works for me for my anxiety, its just the side effects are the issue here. My doctor told me with pristiq, most people don't have issues with side effects.
1497650 tn?1289233125 I would highly recommend Buspirone for anxiety, it hasn't given me any side effects and has completely eliminated my morning panic attacks. I also added a trcyclic antidepressant called amitriptyline to combat some of the depression. I've gone away from SSRIs and SNRIs to get away from the crappy sideeffects. This combo really helped my anxiety.
1390847 tn?1344657468 I think your just nervous about taking it because you dont know if your going to have any bad side effects from it. If you get worse then you could go to the ER or look up the possible side effects or allergic reaction symptoms. I think for now you just need to try to relax and wait atleast 30 minutes to see how you feel.
Avatar f tn ve had to wean off of other antidepressants to keep from going through withdrawal. The symptoms your having could very well be side effects from this med. Usually side effects happen in the beginning but they can happen at any time. Hopefully someone that has experience with this med can give you better advice. Hang in there though. If you feel like you need an antidepressant you have others to choose from that might work great for you.
Avatar f tn ed first line medication treatment for people with anxiety disorders, aside from the anti-anxiety meds (benzodiazepines). I would guess that perhaps you were dealing with some side effects on the Zoloft (which is common during the first few weeks, many times you have to feel a little worse before you feel better)...and rather than the doctor brainstorming with you, maybe adding an anxiolytic, like Ativan or Xanax, to help with the initial side effects, you were just taken off of it.
Avatar n tn But did you wean off of it as you introduced the Pristiq? If not you may be having with withdrawal from the Prozac combined with the side effects of starting a new medication. Or it may just be that Pristiq is not for you. Talk to your doctor about these side effects, they're pretty scary and you need to know what to do at this point where medication is concerned. What works for one may not for another. I wish you all the best with this.
Avatar f tn i hope so too as i dont want to have to start a new med to go through all the side effects again. i want to get to the 8 weeks.
Avatar n tn Effexor makes it even worse. So the doctor changed me to Pristiq and said side effects will not be as bad as with Effexor. After taking it for 1 month I kept eating and gaining weight. And my menstrual cycle went crazy (one and a half months thinking I started an early menopause!). So I panicked and stopped Pristiq, but next day felt the horrible withdrawal effects (dizziness and nausea that kept me in bed). Next day I started taking 80 mg Prozac and withdrawal effects diminished.
407790 tn?1397761026 My doctor just put me on Abilify, which I'm not very happy about considering the side effects. However, I have treatment-resistant depression so I'm running out of options. I will be taking a very low dose, though: 2.5 mg. Does anyone know if you're less likely to get side effects if you're on a low dose? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
603543 tn?1255294450 I found taking Pristiq with a big glass of water in the morning before eating worked the best. Although almost 3 months in im going to the doctors to find out options of what i can change to. My biggest self esteem issue is my weight & in the 3 months ive been on Pristiq i have watched what i ate & even started working out 5-6 days a week & ive climbed another 6kgs. I dont need it! Otherwise Pristiq worked beautifully (as long as you dont forget to take it).
Avatar f tn Topamax has a few side effects that are not the greatest (makes me a little tired, reduces my sex drive, thinning hair, very expensive) but for it to HELP tame the beast inside me its been worth it. Are there any long term side effects I should be aware of? I have tried to go down in dose but my cravings and desire to purge comes back.
1390847 tn?1344657468 For those clients I have worked with who have experienced some of these side effects, the majority reported that the side effects went away on their own after a few weeks. Withdrawal symptoms should not be a major problem. Another positive of Wellbutrin is that compared to other antidepressants, it tends to not cause any sexual side effects.
Avatar n tn I have a script for Pristiq..has anyone taken this antidepressant? I read too much and it states on drugs.com that side effects can be nausea (which I am totally suffering from), dizziness and scared to start taking it...have been diagnosed with PTSD, GAD and am a nervous wreck. Would starting Pristiq now cause even more uncomfortable stuff? Doctor does not know about hydro addiction which I stopped 4 days ago...very proud of myself...but feel totally alone...no one in family knows.
Avatar f tn I take 10mg of lexapro once daily but its not enough. My dr tried having me take it 2x's a day but I had VERY bad side effects, so im back to just 1x a day. I don't want to switch the lexapro all together because its def. helped more and has had less side effects than anyother I have been on. I have also tried zoloft, prozax, paxil, and wellbutrin xr. Anyways, I was just wondering what expeirences anyone else has had on abilify? I know it effects everyone different but.....
