Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

I tryed it lastnight n nothing happened... i felt alil diff this morning but nothing changed.

I went to the pdoc and told him I was interested in trying the new Pristiq, he said it was longer lasting, which is a good thing in my book, but he said thats all he knows about the drug, I was stunned he didnt know any other information!!! So he told me to just stop taking my Effexor xr of .75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .

Does anyone know anything about pristiq? I was looking to see if anyone has had any experience with this medication or if anyone knows anything about it.

Ahh Pristiq, The new SSNRI. Actualy just a slight tweek on Effexor XR. Interesting fact about Pristiq..... Wyeth's newest Antidepressant medication Pristiq, is actually kind of a sister drug of Effexor XR. In fact in terms of the active ingrediants molecular structure they are about 98% the same. You know why the Drug Company Wyeth would produce a drug so much like Effexor XR?

I hate to see you have to switch from Effexor XR if it was working well for you. You are correct that Celexa and Effexor XR are very different in terms of what neurotransmitters they effect in the brain. Celexa being an SSRI and Effexor XR being an SNRI. For depression has heavy symptoms of fatuge and exhaustion, then an SNRI is always a better bet becuase they tend to be more energizing.

i Started taking Lexapro, that did not work...so I took Pristiq. For a couple months I called it my miracle drug becuase it seriously reduced my anxiety. Because I felt as if my anxiety was taken care of, I decided to tackle my depression problem but doubling my pristiq dosage and start taking Welbutrin. All of a sudden my anxiety started increasing again, so after about 2 months I stopped Welbutrin...and here we are months later and my anxiety is getting worse and worse.

recently stopped taking ProzaC BECAUSE IT SEEMED TO LOOSE ITS EFFICACY..{oops} I'm a psych RN and noticed a lot of Pristiq being ordered. I thought I'd give it a go. It's been about 3 and1/2 wks. The regular G.I. probs have gone away. The bizaare side effect I now have is like a psychotic break. I cant talk because I cannot remember what I have said sentence to sentence. I become aware that I am rambling to the poor other person. I dont even remember what i have just said.

After being on Effexor XR for about 7-8 years, my psychiatrist switched me to Pristiq (which is Effexor Lite) last year because it was cheaper for me to get than the Effexor was. I can tell you this, it is the best medication for me. I'd been on Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Zoloft, and some old-school MAOI's. But nothing, nothing, worked as well as the Effexor for my anxiety disorder.

My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.

Lexapro has great success and is not a real aggressive drug meaning that its not really addictive and side effects do occur, but they usually go away within a week or so. Currently, I am taking Pristiq. Pristiq is my miracle drug. I've had anxiety since i was 2 years old and it got REALLY severe. Now I'd say its 95% gone. I went from having anxiety 24/7 to almost never in the matter of 4 weeks on it. Unlike Lexapro, Pristiq works with 2 chemicals: Seratonin and Norepinephrine.

hey all...i was just put on an anti-depressant called Pristiq..i was put on it for anxiety rather than continue on w/ xanax which is not good for me.so far it's been amazing...it's non-narcotic; (supposedly) non addictive; gives you energy; it'sdifferent. just thought if anyone was interested in a possible alternative, check into it? it's brand new so no generic (expensive!!) but doc may have samples-mine did.

i take 50 mg of pristiq which has really helped with the usual aches from fibro, so much so that i don't have to take the prescribed 800 mg of lodine cept for a couple times a month. it has also helped me be more energetic!

Im trying to figure out the best time of day to take pristiq....when does everyone take it??? plus what dosage are you on, ive been on 50mg for almost a month and am still feeling sick and tired all the time and not any better...

hey everyone, today my psychiatrist switched me from 50mg of Pristiq to 37.5mg of Effexor XR, he said the 50mg of Pristiq was too much, anyone ever done this switch or have experiences on the 37.5mg of Effexor?

I just had a doc appointment today to increase my pristiq (my antidepressant) and was hoping to get on something else to help with my severe adhd. My friend takes adderall and I have taken that before which I found worked awesome for me at helping me focus and what not. However, I am having a hard time getting the doctors to understand my issues. I have been on nine hundred different anti-depressants and nothing really has helped which is why I often relapse back to the opiates.

Im sorry to hear about your troubles. Unfortunatly, thats what happens. At times life comes crashing down on you and you feel stuck and helpless...but somehow, life does start to turn around..keep that in mind. Things can and will get better...your in school and thats great becuase when you finish your schooling you can get a better job. Its tough now, but it will all pay off in the future. I am on Pristiq.

I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?

n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I know I posted a question about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) a while back and people replied with mixed reviews. I was at a Lyme support group last night and the speaker has a son with chronic lyme who responded remarkably to HBOT. I don't know all the details, but he has no more pain and feels normal again. I just thought I would share this with everyone. I have read in the book I have about Rife machines that HBOT may drive the infection deeper. I am not sure what this means exactly.

I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?

ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.

My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.

I am a 51 year old female and need to stop pristiq and go back on paxil .
