pristiq not dissolving

My partner has just stopped taking Cymbalta (60 mg after 3 + years) and started taking Pristiq (50 mg). She has been on it for 6 days and she has had diarrhea and vomiting for 3 out of those 6 days. Has anyone experienced these types of side effects on Pristiq? I know everyone is different and we're hoping that her body will adjust to it and start working. I'm also wondering if she is sick due to abruptly stopping the Cymbalta (her dr.

Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.

I went to another doctor because it was the weekend and my regular doctor was not available. She prescribed Elavil because the Pristiq was not helping. She told me I could continue the Pristiq though. I got home and felt hopeless. It dawned on me though to read about Pristiq on the internet. Sure enough I had every side effect listed. Hi. Pristiq is usually prescribed for people who haven't done well on other medications, so I feel it's worth a try. Unfortunately it is trial and error as to which drug will work best for us, but once we find the right one....it's well worth it! I think therapy will do you a lot of good, but it can be a lengthy process and the medication will help during this time. If therapy doesn't help much you will already be on medication to ease your symptoms.

For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

Right you are that (at least chemically speaking) Effexor XR and Pristiq are 99% the same drug. I also tried a switch from Effexor to Pristiq. I had 4 good years on Effexor at 300Mgs a day before it stopped working at which point Pristiq was chosen. I took 100MGs a day of Pristiq becuase I am medication resistant. Pristiq was horrible. Next to Cymbalta the worst SNRI I had ever taken. Even after months on the medication it only covered maybe 20% of my symptoms.

Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.

I think it would be a good idea to talk to your Dr about this. You may or may not need to taper off the Pristiq. I know this is your question but I'm really not sure. Both of these meds are antidepressants but in different categories. Sometimes the drug companies will help with your meds. You would have to fill out paper work and they would go by your income. My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.

Effexor and Pristiq are not the dance thing. Sane family. Venlafaxine vs desvenlafaxine. Pristiq had added benefit of norepinehprine uptake inhibitor or something. Weird that everyone is getting prescribed 50mg when the added benefits dont kick in until 100-150mg. Before swapping drug altogether (depending on non mental side effects) try upping dose first maybe.

Have you ever been on an anti anxiety med before? I'm kind of surprised your Dr would have you on Pristiq alone for anxiety if you don't have depression. It's true that antidepressant meds can help with anxiety but Pristiq is usually prescribed along with an antidepressant if it's not helping much. Can you get in to see your Dr to talk about getting off the Pristiq and getting on an anti anxiety med?

I recently switched from Pristiq to Effexor XR in order to taper down. 50mg of Pristiq=150mg of Effexor. I found Pristiq did not cause as much low libido as Effexor has for me. I also didn't gain weight on it. Same might be true for Effexor for me (who knows?). I gained weight on Celexa and felt significantly more blunted emotionally by it.

5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

I was not really sure where to post this but as it relates to my circumcision I thought perhaps I should ask it here. I had a circumcision 6 weeks ago, the wound has healed and I did not have any problems with infection but I am left with 2 problems. I still have some swelling just behind the glands, it is sort of a ring of swelling, with one side being more swollen then the other. It is not painful but it is fairly hard and feels weird.

I just had this procedure 6 weeks ago and am experiencing the same symptoms. The packing is not dissolving. Smell is awful and bright green. Surgeon put me on antibiotics and steroids and tried sucking it out but it’s still there. Did you improve? This is awful!

I thought there would be no problem, so I was upset, I called the pdoc back and explained what was going on, he said well I guess you can take a 75mg effexor and your pristiq, why would he not know this? Why wouldnt he warn me? I understand the drug is from the same company but going from such a high dose of one to the new one killed me.

I stopped taking Effexor XR four months ago and I've been on Citalopram for the past 2 months. It's not helping and I want to go back to Effexor which helped me a lot more. For both meds I had to go through a month of hell before they started to work. Will I need another month for Effexor to start working again or will my body remember it and therefore will allow it to start working straight away?
