Next day I started taking 80 mg Prozac and withdrawal effects diminished. Also stopped gaining weight but cannot lose the pounds I gained during Effexor. After 3 weeks with Prozac I feel very tired all day, even after sleeping 15 hours or more. And depression came back and hit me. I don´t know what to do.

I have general anxiety with a tendency towards social anxiety. I used to have panic attacks but haven't had one in a couple years. I also suffer with depression. What drug has helped you? I am now taking Klonopin for the anxiety and Prozac for depression. I would like to cut the Klonopin or at least cut down (now taking 1 mg/day). The Prozac isn't helping my depression at all and I have given it months to work.
I have gained weight, have a bigger appetite, and now am more depressed than ever.
Your general doc is wrong, of course. This is why you see a psychiatrist. And my guess is, if these drugs are working, your problem very well may be depression, especially if wellbutrin worked -- it's one of the most stimulating of the antidepressants which is why it doesn't cause the weight gain that most antidepressants cause.
t feel it is working for me, I have gained so much weight since I started taking Pristiq and have carb cravings when I did not before. I will be laid off at the end of next month and will no longer be able to afford the doctor visits or medication. I have been waiting for my Dr to get back with me and am looking for alternatives.
Gained lots of weight on Effexor. On Pristiq kept gaining weight plus my period never came back (2 months). Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads.
It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head. Frequency varies along day. For 6 hours or so the spasms occur 2 times every minute.
I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!
My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
I came off Lexapro 20mg (was not working anymore) and my doctor put me on Pristiq 50mg and xanax. The pristiq is working good but after a couple of months now I am not so sure. I take the Xanax at night because it helps me sleep.
I am a 45 year old male and suffer from GAD and mild deppresion. Should I try something stronger or seek therapy or what? Has anyone else experienced this or on Pristiq? I feel like I am sputtering out here. Any help very much appreciated.
I went on it due to having some extra anxiety, and I feel it stopped those nagging worrying thoughts. I did lose weight, which wasn't a bad thing, as I had put on a little extra. I looked great, and felt great. I have some sexual symptoms, but nothing compared to what I had on zoloft!!! \
I am at a point now where I want to wean off of it. I have 7 pills left, and I read what others posted. I'm dreading going through withdrawals and not feeling well.
t deal with the weight and found it almost impossible to lose. Recently, I stated Pristiq and am heppy with it. This is not a recommendation, but I have tried most of the meds available. Look up all medications available for deression, on the internet, and read all reviews before asking your doctor to change. Look at all the symptoms, other meds, combination meds and specific comments on side effects to make your decision and discuss it intelligently with your doctor. Good luck.
I went to the pdoc and told him I was interested in trying the new Pristiq, he said it was longer lasting, which is a good thing in my book, but he said thats all he knows about the drug, I was stunned he didnt know any other information!!! So he told me to just stop taking my Effexor xr of .75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .
I have a script for Pristiq..has anyone taken this antidepressant? I read too much and it states on drugs.com that side effects can be nausea (which I am totally suffering from), dizziness and scared to start taking it...have been diagnosed with PTSD, GAD and am a nervous wreck. Would starting Pristiq now cause even more uncomfortable stuff? Doctor does not know about hydro addiction which I stopped 4 days ago...very proud of myself...but feel totally alone...no one in family knows.
Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.

What I've found the best way to lose weight is to find your maintenance level (you can find a rough calculator online) that will tell you about how many calories you burn in an avg day. Subtract around 250 calories and you've found your ideal calorie amount! Keep in mind you should take exercise into account as well. You should be shooting around -2 lbs a week.
