I switched mostly because of the cost. $80/month as opposed to 15. What other drug is similar to pristiq without the high cost?

I went to the pdoc and told him I was interested in trying the new Pristiq, he said it was longer lasting, which is a good thing in my book, but he said thats all he knows about the drug, I was stunned he didnt know any other information!!! So he told me to just stop taking my Effexor xr of .75mg x 3 pills a day and start taking pristiq .

I was prescribed Pristiq but i found out it was going to cost be around 140.00 for the prescription. I wanted to know if it was worth paying this much for?

I take 24mg suboxone daily. Iam bi-polar and was prescribed pristiq and abilify, after i went on the suboxone, which i did not tell the doc i was on. I took my first dose of the meds, the abilify and pristiq, (which i had been on before) and got deathly ill, for about 6 hours, then i felt drugged until the next day. I have not tryed it again. Iam only on the suboxone, but i want to get off of it, it has changed my life for the better, in every way, except the cost.

hey everyone, today my psychiatrist switched me from 50mg of Pristiq to 37.5mg of Effexor XR, he said the 50mg of Pristiq was too much, anyone ever done this switch or have experiences on the 37.5mg of Effexor?

I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

how much this may cost I would know whether or not I should travel back to Australia where I can have it done for free there. I have a complex nodule on my Thyroid gland measuring up to 2.6cm. Any input into the cost of these procedures would be greatly appreciated.

t know where in the world you live and will presume you are in USA. Here in Australia it cost me around $300 per treatment. I had two treatments done about 6 weeks apart You can't have it done sooner, it takes that long for the veins to collapse. The stockings are extremely expensive too, over $125 a pair. I don't know how much they would be in USA. I can't recommend anyone unless you live in Melbourne, Australia! Cheers!

n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? Effexor makes it even worse. So the doctor changed me to Pristiq and said side effects will not be as bad as with Effexor. After taking it for 1 month I kept eating and gaining weight. And my menstrual cycle went crazy (one and a half months thinking I started an early menopause!). So I panicked and stopped Pristiq, but next day felt the horrible withdrawal effects (dizziness and nausea that kept me in bed). Next day I started taking 80 mg Prozac and withdrawal effects diminished.

Hi. I tried Pristiq in an attempt to help with menopausal symptoms. I was (and am) on Effexor XR, and Pristiq is almost identical to Effexor XR. I think the only difference is in their molecules. I didn't find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.

My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. 5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

Hi jethrosmom2784, I'm not familiar with the drug Pristiq. I'm assuming it was your doctor who prescribed Pristiq for you. If it's not working for you, only your doctor can help you wean off this drug safely. As with any drug prescribed by a doctor, it is essential that you not stop this drug by yourself . That can be very dangerous. My best advice is to go back to your famly doctor. Tell him or her that you feel Pristiq is not working for you.

If you're doing well on Effexor, I don't see any reason to switch. I've never been on Pristiq, but side effects when taking PRISTIQ 50 mg may include nausea, dizziness, sweating, constipation, and decreased appetite. In clinical studies of the recommended 50-mg dose, the percentage of people who stopped taking PRISTIQ due to side effects was similar to placebo (sugar pill).

Ive developed headaches and am severly tired...Ive been off the pristiq for three weeks....should i have tapered off the pristiq first even though they are suppose to be the same??? help please i dont know what to do and i cant take it anymore...

I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!
