Pristiq brain zaps

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq brain zaps

pristiq

Avatar f tn I was on 100mgs a day with Pristiq for a year and when it came time to switch meds, I honestly thought I was going to die. The withdrawl and brain zaps were much stronger than I had ever felt before. It took 6 full weeks for them to go away and I tapered slow too. I would rather chew on tin foil than go thru that again.
5433238 tn?1367893298 I have what I would call a quick disorienting feeling in my brain. It's hard to describe; it seems to have a bit of a sound associated with it. It has two quick zaps. Sometimes when it's worse, my eyes seem to want to move. I used to get this before a migraine was going to come on, but now I have it everyday. I recently, very carefully weaned myself off of Pristiq. It is a drug for depression. thought I was going to go crazy on that stuff. And that's what it is.
Avatar m tn Hi there.I can't believe I came across this site? I've been on pristiq for about 10mnths? When I read "brain zaps" I froze.Thats what I get from pristiq, and they are horrible.I didn't know how to explain them to people? I know they are worse if I miss a dose or forget? It's like your brain saying where is my next dose? It's seriously like a crunching electric jolt. Really really not nice.I do want together off them but,say I start to taper off,I get these Zaps!
7650348 tn?1393006631 I admit that looking back at my journal, my stymptoms are getting better, I hate to take the alprazoloam but I know it kinda helps with me. Any suggestions on how long the brain zaps and waves of panic stop? I have had a headache for over a month, off and on. These are easing up but I need to know the truth. Why when I told my Dr about the side effects from antidepressants he looks at me like im crazy! Why?
Avatar f tn He seemed confident that paxil was not working so no need to wean off any slower. But I had an anxiety attack 2 days after stopping the paxil. I have brain zaps and stomach cramps. Have been crying for 5 days now and can't stop crying. Has anyone had an experience like me and will it get better with time. I feel scared all the time. I am a male 35 years of age. Would love to hear from anyone who can help me.
Avatar n tn If Pristiq is like Effexor, I'd avoid it. I had the night sweats and soon, apathy. When I tried to get off Effexor, I had the worst brain zaps I've ever had. I'm sorry to hear that Lexapro didn't work for you. I haven't tried that one yet. I am very interested in Valdoxan since it sounds so different.
324184 tn?1308076203 I came off Cymbalta pretty quickly. I had nausea, what other people call "brain zaps", which I felt as intermittent static in my brain and my eyes didn't track as quickly as my head turned. It lasted about 3 or 4 weeks although it wasn't that bad.
Avatar n tn Hey, I was taking effexor for around a month after tryin many other medicines but decided they dont work, so I weaned off effexor about a month ago, I am STILL having the brain zaps, like overwhelming rush of light headedness. I went to my doctor and told him that. He says its possibly because of it. HOW LONG will this last?? I've been off for a month like I said, even tried imitrex painkiller, it helped alittle but I don't want to rely on that anymore!
Avatar m tn I had been reading a bit about pristiq as was on it for a few months myself. Ive since stopped taking it and thought i'd share my experience in case it is of interest to you (trust me, i was so interested in hearing others experiences and couldnt find any information at all online!) 1) Would anyone who has ever taken this medication please tell me about their own experience on Pristiq? What do you feel like? Can you describe how you feel?
Avatar n tn s having me take a 75 effexor xr and my pristiq 50---I guess a ween off of it, no more brain zaps for now, I dont know what will happen after I stop taking effexor all together, we shall see in a few weeks. As for the comment above, I too have seen people have to pay out of pocket for perscriptions and its usually elderly and people like me, who had been laid off and take medications and are put into a situation of having to pay out of pocket, what to do?
3038261 tn?1340919409 I recently stopped taking venaflaxine ("Effexor") because it has been making my mania symptoms worse. As part of the withdrawal, I've been experiencing something I've come to find is known as "brain shivers". I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before, and if so, has any advice on how to cope.
Avatar n tn I am 23 years old and since I was roughly 12, I have taken various SSRI medications, including Paxil, Zoloft, Cylexa, and most recently, Pristiq. In conjunction, I have taken Xanax or Ativan. Each time I would take a medicine for a few months, I would begin to notice that it no longer seemed to "help", resulting in multiple switches/changes recommended by Psychs. Most recently, I missed a few doses of Pristiq.
1042487 tn?1275279899 I'm suffering with the brain zaps after coming off of Lexapro. I tapered off the Lexapro, incrementally and very, very slow. The withdrawal symptoms didn't start right away with my last dose which fooled me into thinking I would miss that part. But, alas not to be. Anyway, it's been 28 days with the zaps, shakiness, and irritablility. I started taking Primrose Oil and doubling up on my fish oil (2000mgs) around 10 days ago.
Avatar n tn I am writing because my poor husband has been suffering with "brain zaps" for 14 months and I just need to find out if the brain zaps ever STOP. He was taking effixor for just one month and went off the drug "cold turkey." Ever since that day he has had the brain zaps daily. Some days they are so bad he is nearly knocked down and days when he can't even go to work. Othr days they are mild, but he NEVER has a day without the zaps.
Avatar f tn Dear Doctors A week ago I have stopped my therapy with Cymbalta. I have had anxiety's problems. I have took off the medication in 3 months from 60 mg to 15 mg..to 10...to 5....to 0 mg!! Now I'ts a week that I have brain zaps...here in Italy all the psichiatrists told me that it's an anxiety's symptom. I know that it's not true...because in all the time that I have not took antidepressants (3 years)...I haven't had IT!!...
Avatar m tn I've felt these EXACT same "brain zaps" WDing from both Tramadol and Lortab. YES, you CAN feel them even when you don't take antidepressants. They are awful and I felt them intensely with just the slightest movement of my head or limbs.
Avatar f tn t go back on antidepressants - but am wondering what to call this - maybe brain zaps work. Equally, I am wondering how long THIS is going to happen.
116881 tn?1189755823 --- I have experienced this sensation several times in the past few months. I have been describing it as brain spasms but when I goodle brain zaps it appears a lot of people have them. Seems to coincide with coming off SSRI's which I have never taken. I am having an EEG on Thurs because I am worried it may have been a mild seizure -- now im not sure.
Avatar n tn I never knew how to describe what I was feeling till I read about brain zaps. They come and go, may have them one day and the next day they are gone. Had them for all ten years. Why do they come and go? and is their anything I should do?
Avatar n tn Please, please, please can the thousands of people suffering from brain zaps have some answers from the medical profession???? Doctor's dismiss our complaints as very few doctors have even heard of brain zaps and the associated headaches, tinnitis, etc. Why are they happening and WHAT WILL MAKE THE BETTER? So many thousands of people are blogging and googling-away trying to find answers.
Avatar n tn I have read a lot about individuals coming off medication (antidepressants and such) and experiencing brain zaps but I have them and am not taking any of those medications. I had a bout with them about 3 years ago which lasted daily -numerous times a day - for about 2 months. They are back again and have increased each day for the last week. I had spoken to my doctor about them the first time around and she didn't have an answer nor did she pursue it.
Avatar n tn How long should my husband expect to suffer from "brain zaps" or electric shock like symptoms while withdrawing from paroxetine and introducing fluoxetine?
Avatar m tn There was a thead on this elsewhere but it would not allow me to post as it had reached its daily limit. I've seen a lot of posts where people are complaining of brain zaps while going through SSRI withdrawal. I'm actually experiencing them while I'm on one! I've been taking Lexapro 20mg or about a year now and have been experiencing ocassional brain zaps. Anyone having this problem while under current treatment -- not withdrawals?
Avatar f tn Dear All. A week ago I have stopped my therapy with Cymbalta. I have anxiety's problems. I have took off the medication in 3 months from 60 mg to 5 mg....to 0 mg!! Now I'ts a week that i have brain zaps...here in Italy all the psichiatrists I have asked..Say that it's an anxiety's symptom. I know that it's not real...because in all the time that I have not took antidepressants...I haven't had IT!!... What can i do to exceed this effect of suspension?...Thank you!!
Avatar m tn Wow so relieved to see others having issues with brain zaps. It's scary and sometimes I feel like my eyes have pressure and want to pop out, but its not a pain, just a constant numb sort of annoyance. My fingers and toes are cold most of the time as well.
