WELLBUTRIN (bupropion hydrochloride), an antidepressant of the aminoketone class, is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, or other known antidepressant agents.
PRISTIQ is an extended-release tablet for oral administration that contains desvenlafaxine succinate, a structurally novel SNRI for the treatment of MDD.
Pristiq is an SNRI while Wellbutrin is not. Abilify is not in either class, it is totally different.
m worried that the combination of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin can cause this. Is the combintation of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin safe?

Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.
I have been on many different antidepressants over the last 25 years. Cymbalta was the worst experience of all, Prozac, paxil Effexor, all worked for a while but after about 7 to 10 years they just didn't help much and I would switch to another one. My psychiatrist finally put me on Wellbutrin about 7 years ago. OMG it was a life saver, literally.
50mg zoloft, 200mg wellbutrin, 1mg klonopin 4x a day, 50mg PRISTIQ. after 10 days i stop zoloft and wellbutrin and start 100mg PRISTIQ WITH THE KLONOPIN . SHOULD THIS WORK?
I take lithium Wellbutrin pristiq and clomping. I am going through menopause. I take about 6 six 7.5 hydros a day. I have taken the meds for 20 years, but the hydros about 2 years. Lately I have become morbidly depressed, and I need to know if you guys think its the hydros. Sometimes I do take more, but never more than 10 hydros.
Wellbutrin is the only AD that doesn't make me go nuts. If you would have asked me 20 tears ago how it made me feel, I would have said stoned, but who knows because I was on other meds then too. Today it (and the Lamictal) doesn't make me feel like anything, except better, which is a good thing.
Wellbutrin is for depression, not anxiety, and as such can be stimulating. Drugs like Effexor are for both, but all can cause weight gain. You won't know until you try. The least problematic are probably Prozac, and then Lexapro, but even Lexapro has been known to cause significant weight gain and Prozac isn't usually that great for anxiety, but who knows? They're weird, these drugs, and affect everyone differently.
I just started wellbutrin for my depression and it made my anxiety sky rocket. Cant sleep and shaky hands. Im in a training program for a job and I was doing well, I have completed 4 weeks, i think clonazapem was keeping me going. I started wellbutrin and all of a sudden i got thoughts about being a failure, I will fail the training, I will get fired, I will be homeless. Then I started feeling suicidal.
I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
One problem is you will be taking meds that affect the same neurotransmitters, and that can cause an overload. both Pristiq and Elavil affect serotonin, and while Pristiq does so more profoundly than Elavil you could still theoretically run into the problem of serotonin syndrome. You don't say how much you're taking, it could be tiny doses of each, but the risk exists though it's probably not common.
I'm thinking about talking to my PCP about going back on an anti-depressant medication. My dysthymia (chronic depression) is getting the best of me, and I'm nearly to the point that I don't really want to do anything anymore.
I've taken Effexor in the past, and it seemed to work well for me, but I really don't like the sexual side effects.
This was in the hope that maybe I could reduce or get off Wellbutrin (memory problems) if the Pristiq did not cause sexual side effects. I have been on Pristiq for a month and a half now. The transition was seamless. Within two weeks, I was no longer clenching my jaw and stopped using the mouth guard. I am also seeing a lessening of the sexual side effects. I did not have any of the sweating or dry mouth, but that may be because I have been on an SNRI for awhile and my body was used to it.
I am kind of the exception because I am medication resistant and my depression and anxiety is a tough nut to crack. I am currently on a Pristiq, Lamictal and Lithium combination and it seems to be working ok, but the add on of the Lamictal and lithium is only in it's second week so I should know more later on it's effectivness.

Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!
When I saw my doctor again, he gave me samples of Pristiq to take in conjunction with the Wellbutrin. This combination worked extraordinarily well for me and I finally saw purpose and meaning in life again. I saw my doctor a couple of weeks ago as I had nearly finished the samples he had initially given me. We discovered that my insurance does not cover Pristiq and he had no remaining samples at his office.

If you are looking for names there is Prozac, pristiq, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, cymbalta, etc.... Just speak with your doctor first.
When I was perscribed Pristiq my psychiatrist didnt even know I have depression, she was just treating me for anxiety. And let me tell you, Pristiq changed my life the first few months I took it...as in my anxiety went from 100% every single day to barely getting any anxiety over the course of a month. Everybody handles meds differently, so give Pristiq a try as it may be your "miracle" drug as I used to call it a few months ago. Good luck!
I did Gene site testing and it told me Pristiq was the only pill that would work well for me so I’m taking that now. They also have me on BuSpar and believe that the BuSpar is giving me the rash they just told me to take an allergy pill. Had I known that I never would’ve complained about the rash, and been happier on Zoloft. But I never had the rash on my neck or face. Good luck. It took me about six weeks for any of the anti-depressants to get out of my system.
