I saw a urologist, who did a cystoscopy and he said everything was fine, my bladder was fine, and my urinary tract was fine, and that as a urologist he could no longer help me. He suggested that I speak with my psychiatrist because of the medication I am on. I take lamictal, concerta, pristiq, seasonique, and zyrtec d everyday. But i'm just confused because I have taken these medicines for over 6 months now and have not had these problems.

I really dont feel depressed at all,I feel ok when i had my clonazepan dosage,but what if I become an addict, how can I start taking pristiq and not being scared? Like I said above , i feel more anxious and panic than depressed. So Pristiq will work with my anxiety? What about Clonazepan withdrawals?

I am a 52 year old female. Post menopause and on hormones. Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?

Although Pristiq and Wellbutrin are both antidepressants, Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic which can be used to augment antidepressants. Is there one pill that will replace all of these, no. They each tap different things in the brain.

I am wondering if anyone can help. I am on Armour Thyroid for Hypothyroidism, Pristiq for depression, Protonix for GERD and HRT. I know the Pristiq can cause it, but the dry mouth started years after I started the Pristiq. I just sent my doctor an email questioning whether Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth. Anyone have any ideas or answers? Thanks!

I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?

Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.

One problem is you will be taking meds that affect the same neurotransmitters, and that can cause an overload. both Pristiq and Elavil affect serotonin, and while Pristiq does so more profoundly than Elavil you could still theoretically run into the problem of serotonin syndrome. You don't say how much you're taking, it could be tiny doses of each, but the risk exists though it's probably not common.

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

I will only add one thing to Ryan's otherwise very good post. People do have different reactions to different drugs, even to Celexa and Lexapro or Pristiq and Effexor. While it's true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.

t processing things the way it used to. I still have the urinary frequency and severe pain on both sides of my spine in my lower back. Any suggestions about what might be causing this? I'd like to have some ideas to talk to my urologist about, because he seems to think it's just overactive bladder, even though the meds aren't helping.

Hi I'm a 19 year old college student with a boyfriend for about 4 months and I drink about 2 to 3 times a week. We have been in a somewhat sexual relationship for about 2 months (I am still a virgin, but have given a ********, been eaten out, and fingered). My parents do not know that I have a bf or that I drink and I have to hide that from them because its not really acceptable with my middle eastern culture. About a month ago, my doctor diagnosed me with a UTI.

such as daily tremors, hyperreflexia, leg and arm spasms with burning sensations, change in gag reflex, pressure in my head so bad I can barley sit or stand and even laying down hurts, eye twitching, urinary and bowel problems. All of this without light or sound sensitivity! We will see what she has to say. I hope she doesnt pass my bowel problems up to constipation or IBS. Drs seem so willing to throw a diagnosis and not look more into it.

Overactive bladder symptoms are urinary urgency, frequency and sometimes getting up at night to void. 5% of 25 yr olders have overactive bladder. You either have a structurally small bladder or its a functional problem where low volumes of urine in your bladder trigger the urge to void. Patients with overactive bladder "tend to urinate frequently".

I called the pdoc back and he's having me take a 75 effexor xr and my pristiq 50---I guess a ween off of it, no more brain zaps for now, I dont know what will happen after I stop taking effexor all together, we shall see in a few weeks. As for the comment above, I too have seen people have to pay out of pocket for perscriptions and its usually elderly and people like me, who had been laid off and take medications and are put into a situation of having to pay out of pocket, what to do?

50mg zoloft, 200mg wellbutrin, 1mg klonopin 4x a day, 50mg PRISTIQ. after 10 days i stop zoloft and wellbutrin and start 100mg PRISTIQ WITH THE KLONOPIN . SHOULD THIS WORK?

I am just curious to hear about any personal experiences you may have had with Pristiq and/or Effexor. My doctor has been favoring Pristiq but with no real valid reasons why and when I researched the two, based on clinical findings, I'm not sure that Pristiq is really better than Effexor. Thoughts?

I am also taking Pristiq. Wonder if that has anything to do with it? Anyone else taking Pristiq and Topamax? Had the same issues? Would love to know.

I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say, "hello", but I also have a question and a few comments. I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!

Is there any connection that anyone knows of between gastric problems and urinary problems. My son has both and we are becoming increasingly desperate to find out whether there is a link between the two. It does appear that when he has a urine infection that his gastric probems get worse, but we are getting nowhere trying to find answers other than him having loads of tests and appointments.
