1559289 tn?1294749613 hello i am 34 years old and suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. Avatar f tn I had severe serotonin syndrome last August. My old doctor prescribed imitrex and pristiq together (there's an FDA Alert to not mix the two). I had burning in my occipital lobe, right side of face, right shoulder, upper back, and burning down my right arm. I also had muscle weakness, nausea, confusion, a delay in my speech, and hot flashes that traveled up and down my body. I called my old primary and they told me to wait off the side effects of the imitrex instead of going to the ER.
Avatar n tn I’m on 75 mg Pristiq and have a lot of anxiety. Would 100 or 150 mg help with anxiety?
Avatar f tn i have had generalized anxiety (severe) for 12 yrs. currently only on 5 mg of lexapro only because i couldn't get off the last 5mg. i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa, effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych.
Avatar m tn I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.
Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
Avatar f tn If mainly anxiety, followed by insomnia, then daytime fatigue, inability to concentrate, increased anxiety and stress from a non focused mind, and a broadening gap between your ideal self and where you are, then reevaluate. An inexpensive ssri such as celexa, with a longer acting benzodiazapine as clonazepam may save a lot of money. If daytime hypo arousal is present, get a trial of Nuvigil. Get the 250 and try 1/3 in the am.
Avatar n tn Therapy has done wonders for me to understand the way my mind processes anxiety symptoms and has taught me how to deal with them. Also the frequency of my panic attacks have decreased since going through therapy and coming to this forum has helped . My concern for you is your need for a Dr. you can trust. Maybe you should consider going to a Dr. that has a good reputation. Now take good care of yourself and keep us informed of how you are doing.
Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and severe depression but the dr. wasnt 100% sure if i was or was not bi polar one...so she prescribed me 50 mg pristiq and 25 mg lamictal. she told me if i was in fact bi polar that the pristiq would make me go totally manic. just 3 days in and i am totally manic. totally completely it is scary. unless i am doing something at all times i am losing it. my body is 10 steps behind my brain. nightmare....
Avatar f tn I have OCD with panic disorder and was in a bad way with horrible panic and anxiety. The Pristiq worked well but slow. My Doc raised my doses in 50 ml increments until I got up to 200 ml. I felt better little bits at a time but it really kicked in at 200 ml. It goes slow but it does work. Don't give up on it too soon. Don't be afraid to go up in dosage a little bit at a time. I've heard of people going up to 400ml.
1460652 tn?1340248730 I have been through every ssri in the past 20 years. I am now on pristiq 75mg and lamictal 300 mg in addition to Ativan as needed. My anxiety is coming back unfortunately. My psychiatrist wants me to take gabapentin. It seems like she is just guessing at this point. Any suggestions? I know we are not doctors but I figure someone may be going through something similar. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is defined as chronic, excessive worry and fear that seems to have no real cause. Children or adolescents with generalized anxiety disorder often worry a lot about things such as future events, past behaviors, social acceptance, family matters, their personal abilities, and/or school performance. All children and adolescents experience some anxiety. It is a normal part of growing up.
398624 tn?1266269449 Me again!! I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I have a SEVERE case of both!! Can anyone here tell me the best fast acting anxiety pill (like xanax or ativan-ive tried both, my body i think is immune to those now!!) I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and would like some ideas!!
398624 tn?1266269449 I have generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. The Lorezapam BARELY takes the edge off. I haven't left my house in over 2 yrs except to go to the doctor or to the store. My psychiatrist recently changed me to Lyrica since the Lorezapam is not working. I haven't started taking the Lyrica yet tho. New meds always worry me. Has anyone taken this for anxiety? If so, how well did it work for you?
Avatar m tn I recommend purchasing (or borrowing from local library) a work book on Generalized Anxiety/Panic disorder to work through your history and past experiences, and to give you something to work on for the future. there are a lot of people in the world who experience the same feelings you do. The best things you can do for yourself is learn about the disorder and, since you already know the triggers, learn how to control the anxiety/panic attacks.
Avatar f tn Generalized anxiety disorder for me is the same, except sometimes I feel like I'm dying when I wake up, and I get afraid over the smallest things.... I would like to feel normal..
Avatar f tn And I should add, though anti-depressants such as pristiq aren't technically addictive, they can be hard to quit for many people. That's why I say, if you need them you need them, but if you don't, you don't.
1131217 tn?1260291231 i had blood work done to rule out physical health and i finally went to see a therapist and then a psychiatric nurse. the out come i have general anxiety disorder, depression and bi polar one disorder or so i am told. i was prescribed pristiq and lamictal low low doses....50 mg pristiq 25 mg lamictal which of course i will keep upping and upping and upping until what my brain is totally fried and i am a hollow shell of myself????
Avatar f tn That basically is one reason why I do not want to take it. It also doesnt say on the pristiq website that is treats anxiety and/or panic disorder as it does on the Effexor XR website because the FDA has not even aproved it yet for this.
Avatar m tn Benzodiazepines have robust efficacy in the short-term management of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), but were not shown to be effective in producing long-term improvement overall. Although benzodiazepines are much safer in overdose than their predecessors, the barbiturates, they can still cause problems in overdose.
Avatar m tn I had tests that all came back negative so I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety attacks. I found a good medication finally and I have not had an anxiety attack for a while...knock on wood. I remember as far back as being 8 yrs old and always being worried and nervous with hand tremors and racing thoughts. I feel they didn't get extremely unbearable till I was in my teens and 20's. So, yes the condition can gradually come on.
