blood-sugar

Avatar f tn That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.
577285 tn?1706032371 Blood Sugar Tracker for us diabetic's out there please. It would be an invaluable tool for us to track this VITAL READING. Not only could it be based on those little log books that we all gotta carry around getting all dog eared and full of blood stains as well as getting more expensive to buy , but we could easily make a copy and bring the professional looking and easy to read Chart / Tracker to our Doctors.
Avatar f tn There are a million free printable chore charts available online. I was using an online one for awhile where the kids would log in and click what they did, but that one didn't work for us after awhile. Now we use a paper one that i customized for the girls. They have the opportunity to earn $5 a week, but they have to save $1 and donate $1.
Avatar f tn I have had T1D for 9 months now. The last week or so my blood sugar had been between 240-340 mg/dl and I can't get it to come down. What should I do?
Avatar m tn Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial]. You do have a home glucose test meter, right? By comparing preprandial with postprandial, postprandial will inform you which foods elevate your levels and which ones do not. You need to make a concentrated lifestyle change starting with foods.
Avatar f tn I got blood tests done...i haven't gotten the results back yet, but I looked at the sheet before I gave it to the lady who took my blood, and they aren't doing any diabetes tests! Should I reccomend it if none of the tests are positive?
Avatar n tn You could work it out, I guess. Test your blood sugar. Then inject one unit of insulin and test 2 hours later to see how far your blood sugar has fallen. One unit is not likely to cause any dramatic problem. Please make sure you monitor your blood sugar closely when you are taking insulin as an overdose can be dangerous and and an underdose won't get your sugars down enough. Do you have a past log book as recommended by diabetes86? How high is your sugar?
Avatar n tn not including the original price) but if you have severy lows during the day, or especialy at night i highly sugest this unit. You have to chnage the sensor evey three days and imput your blood sugar evey 12 hours, and carry the thing around, but it is well worth it. I am a mountian bike racer and do hours of trainning with tones of lows and this system helped a lot. The only reason i didnt; buy it was that It was way to expensive for me...(rememeber bike racer...
490398 tn?1319940717 A blood sugar of 239 two hours after eating is too high. It should be no higher than 180.
Avatar f tn For the past few years, I get really shaky and weak and my heart pounds right after I eat. It lasts a good hour and then I feel better. I told my doctor and she did a fasting blood sugar on me and it came back fine. But I feel fine if I don't eat. However, I have to force myself to eat because the longer I go without eating, the worse I feel after I finally do. I don't have other typical diabetes symptoms. What could this be?
683231 tn?1467323017 I wonder if people would respond to a log. We should probably put together another log type comment to ask people how soon it showed up on their formulary, how they're paying for it, what country or part of USA they're from. All that interesting stuff.
Avatar n tn I am not an expert either, but from general knowledge as a nurse I would expect you to follow your diet plan as given, eating perhaps 4-5 small meals a day (if that is what your doctor has instructed you) and keeping near the 20 gm net carb limit, no matter what your blood sugar is. Just keep a log of what you eat and when, and a log of when and what your blood sugar is. That may help the doc figure out what YOUR body needs.
Avatar n tn Net carbs doesn't take into account the fiber in foods, because some types of fiber don't affect blood sugar. For more on fiber and why it's health in a diabetes diet, read this from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app: http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Natures-Blood-Sugar-Secret/1822 But, the simplest way to count carbs is to just use the numbers on the label, as in this article: http://www.medhelp.
483733 tn?1326798446 I would like to not only agree with Trudie's suggestion to make the PHR printable, but also could you make the trackers printable, so we can take them to the doctor?
Avatar f tn I had to change the way I ate to keep my blood sugar more even.. avoid foods that spike your blood sugar such as grains and sugars.. A piece of whole wheat bread will raise your blood sugar more than eating a chocolate bar...I changed to a paleo way of eating and it has done a world of good for me. More energy, perfect blood sugar, blood pressure and lost weight..
Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
Avatar m tn I don't have the lab result sheet. All I saw on the sheet when he showed it to me was 1400. No log or E within the number, so I'm pretty sure it's not 1,400,000 or 14,000. My lab result the year before showed <160. My ALT is 14 and my ultrasound came back normal.
Avatar n tn An insulin pump is something you need to ask your endocronologist for help with. Blood sugar log books can be sent to you from the company that you have your meter through; just call them. Your local Diabetes Charity could probably point you in the right direction too. I'm assuming you already have a pump, but they are all different & you need to be taught how to use it properly.
2094297 tn?1345389093 increase protein, good fats and veggies, decrease bad fats and sugar/starch. This will keep you satiated, reduce your blood sugar, reduce your inflammation markers. Here some meal ideas: unsweetened low fat yoghurt with LSA or nuts and apples for breakfast, some eggs. A handful of nuts for a snack. Lunch: huge salad with mixed veggies and greens with thuna or a grilled steak. Celery with almond butter or carrots stick with hummus as a snack.
Avatar n tn So you tested 5 times, if each test covers 1 minute of blood sugar. A day has 1440 minutes in a day and you tested only 5 of them.
7543158 tn?1391978069 That little test he does apparently keeps showing an average blood sugar of 130 when I know that to be untrue. I have a glucometer and check my sugar regularly throughout the day. I've even shown him my meter's log and he still won't believe me about my spikes and crashes. He believes I'm just overly worried and that it's all in my head. What do I do?
Dog If you were my patient, I would advise you that Metformin typically does not drop blood sugar. If you are on a combination of medications, it could be that the combination was responsible for the drop, OR that your lack of eating caused the sugar level to dip. It will be important to report all of you sugar levels to your doctor, but I would not recommend stopping or changing medications. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am not saying to stop your meds and see but check the patient info sheet to see if it can affect your blood sugar or call your drs office and talk with a nurse to find out.
Avatar f tn My dad who is a diabetic said he was a little worried and to have him come over and he will check his blood sugar. It was 249 about 2.5 hours after eating. He gave us a glucose monitor and he have been checking it regularly. Some times it gets about 110 and then other times it will spike. The highest its been so far is 269. I have no idea what this means. Im so new to all of this. Is this normal? I called the pedi and they told me to keep a log and call them in a few days.
