Prilosec otc is great. In a pinch warm water with a tsp of baking soda is also good.
She has also been diagnosed with gastritis, and for the most part has it under control, lately though she had a pretty bad flare up and we ve tried, prilosec and mylanta, which have definitely helped. Today though she woke up with a sore throat and when she went to eat, she couldn't, her tongue would sting. Has anyone experienced this before too? If so what are some recommendations?? Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole).These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids.
If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician.

No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end. We just want to get back to our normal life's.
If your doctor said it was ok so there wont be no problem...but i wont take it Mylanta is good is what my doctor prescribe me.

Me and you both! It started out small, like I could control it with tums. But then that wasn't enough so I switched to mylanta. And by this past weekend that wasn't enough! So I tried zantac but it only took the edge off for a few hours. Yesterday I had enough, and called my doctor, he called a prescription for prilosec. And as of this morning, so far so good.

He has prescribed Pepcid, Prilosec, and Mylanta. She is no longer in excruciating pain, but feels bad and is just lying down trying to sleep. He said that if the pain starts again in the morning to take a swig of Mylanta and the pain will subside - and she is going to try that - However, I am afraid that something much more serious may be going on here. I'm trying so hard to relax. I called my Gi drs office today and they said heartburn has nothing to do with h pylori. She told me I have to have something else going on in there. It's funny I never had heartburn until I got sick Christmas day. I have been watching what I eat so carefully. What else if it's not h pylori would cause this? I'm taking two 20 mg Prilosec everyday along with my two antibiotics. I thought while taking prilosec I shouldn't get heartburn. Thank you.
s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
The doctor had mentioned Prilosec and another medication as being ok to take, but I forget the other one. Anyways, I went to the store to get the Prilosec and the only thing they have for Prilosec is a 14 day treatment which may not work for 1-4 days. I want something with immediate relief and wondered if the anyone took the other ones like Zantac or whatever else is out there. Tums does NOT work for me. Any input as to what your doctor said was ok, please let me know.
I'm 23 weeks and recently started getting heartburn. I never had it before I got pregnant. Whole milk works for me. I don't have tums. Mylanta and rolaids are safe for pregnancy. Maybe those will work for you.
Since then, yesterday morning I woke up with pain in my neck. At first I figured they were unrelated and thought I just slept the wrong way on my neck. I was okay through most of the day and the abdominal pain subsided. But in the evening my neck started hurting more and I also started getting a minor headache. The ab pains were very slight and I concentrated more on my neck and head. Plus I also realized I had a loss of appetite.

Went to an ENT and he didn’t even shove anything in my throat, just told me it was acid reflux. Took mylanta, tums, and Prilosec, none of them worked. I had a sort of flu recently and the whole time I was sick and stuffed up, the pain was gone, but the day I woke up feeling better, the throat pain returned. The pain is worse than others at times, but I can always feel it in some capacity. No other symptoms, just throat.
