Prilosec with advil

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec with advil

prilosec

Avatar f tn Aleve and Advil are both considered NsAIDs and both help with pain and inflammation. I can't remember the numbers on what not to exceed. Both need to be taken with food and if you take regularly, your doctor will tell you what to take to protect your stomach, some are OTC and others are prescription (I take prescription strength Prilosec.) Tylenol works on pain but not inflammation. It is easier on your stomach except for weirdo me ... it gives me terrible nausea.
Avatar m tn Yikes, You really need to stop taking the Advil and find another form of pain relief. With Your Doctor being forgetful (old age??) it is in your best interest to find another Doctor. I don't know of any competent Doctor who would let you take that amount of Advil on a daily basis for that long of a period. Common sense will tell you that taking medication in that amount is harmful.
Avatar f tn I agree with the ibuprofen/Advil. But that can also bother your stomach. Taking over-the-counter Prilosec can help with that while you're taking the meds sort of constantly. Also, eating will help a little. Taking oxycodone or other meds can make you feel sick initially but can sometimes go away but taking it with food can make a big difference. Feel better.
786879 tn?1236881905 The liver (even with Hep C) is tough,so dont be afraid of medicines which say not to be used with liver disease. Virtually all medicines have a liver disease warning which, within reason, you need not take too literally.
Avatar m tn Hi, Doctor diagnosed me with slight stomach inflammation back in april from upper GI. Been on Nexium off and on the past six months. I still feel the burning sensation off and on. Has anyone here actually cured there stomach inflammation? should I tried other herbal medicines? btw, no sign of bacteria or ulcers. I was talking advil for a week prior to the stomach inflammation. My dr. say I was probably on the borderline prior to taking the advil. I am also feeling nausea at times.
Avatar f tn I have had this terrible burning and extreme nausea for 6 months. I am a healthy active 19 year old female. I am not stressed out before anyone tries to tell me that's what's wrong with me. I have had a cat scan, which was as normal. Blood tests and stool tests all normal. I had an endoscopy and a biopsy and was tested for stomach cancer and h pylori both for negative. I have a breath test scheduled but it's not for over a month. They found gastritis in my endoscopy.
Avatar f tn The advil/tylenol flip-flop is when you would take advil, then a few hours later, take tylenol, and then advil, then tylenol - all overlapping doses. this keeps a steady does of them in your system, without the risk of overdosing on either.
Avatar f tn Hi. Welcome to the forum. Everyone here is a chronic pain patient so all responses are just our own experiences. But there are many people on here who are very knowledgeable in a variety of areas. But of course, always check with your doctor on everything. Right off the bat, though, I could suggest making sure you eat before you take advil (ibuprofen) or aspirin. Yogurt is a good base when taking any NSAID or narcotic.
Avatar f tn She does not take advil, drink alcohol, or drink anything caffeinated. With the aid of the acid reducer, she is able to eat, but she throws up every single morning. She has dropped a lot of weight, but her doctor does seem concerned and is not coming up with anything new to help her. What could cause ulcers to last this long??
1394601 tn?1328032308 I began taking my Rebif shots without taking Advil in advance. Am I playing with fire?
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
Avatar n tn Earlier I Was In Extreme Pain Due To A Tooth Ache I Took Advil Because I Tried Tylenol Earlier In The Day && It Did Nothing Could Me Taking Advil Hurt My Baby I'm 28 Weeks Already!
Avatar f tn Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
Avatar m tn I cut my advil back to 6 a day and a couple tylenol, plus i was told to take prilosec twice a day. After 2 days of the advil cutback, the antibiotics and the prilosec i have been feeling better, but i have to wait and see. If you are in alot of pain tramadol is a joke, you need to get some real pain medicine. The person above is right if your gallbladder isnt working right, it can cause tremendous pain, i am getting that test next if i still have the pain. .
Avatar f tn Prilosec and a late period have NO correlation nor is it common.
Avatar f tn I have been to my family doctor with the rib pain and he thought it was muscular or a pinched nerve since I had been moving and was lifting boxes. The rib pain is a bit better but not gone. During the intense rib pain, I took a lot of Advil --- did this start up GERD? Honestly, I've never had heartburn regularly except when I was pregnant until now. Could the rib pain be gas-related because sometimes it will hurt and then I will burp and the pain subsides a bit?
212161 tn?1599427282 hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.
Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar f tn I see my surgeon tomorrow and want to know if anything worked for some of you with the same issue so I can ask him to prescribe something similar---thanks---
Avatar n tn I wanted to get your opinion on something. I was in the ER with my fiance the other night because he has had these bad chest pains for a couple of weeks. It finally got to the point where he couldn't take it anymore and it was starting to worry me because it was in his chest so I didn't want it to be his heart. I will try to break it down for you...
Avatar f tn ( had a CT scan and some back investigation(mri etc) 3 years prior to this and it showed herniated disks, spinal arthritis and some degeneration) This time my internist did an abdominal ultrasound, CT scan of abdomen, small bowel barium study,x-rays of chest etc,and sent me togastro dr for an endoscope-all completely normal except endoscope showed inflammation-then he had me do a HIDA scan on which a had an ejection fraction of 29%-also I had blood work to test everything---liver profile, pancre
Avatar n tn Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining. People get this condition when they take pain relievers like Aleve, Advil, Motrin with just a sip of water. Directions on bottles of these pain relievers say to drink a glass of water with the pills. If not, the pills can settle on a spot in your stomach lining and burn a sore into the lining. Ulcers have the same symptoms, but is more severe that has caused an ulceration on the stomach lining.
Avatar m tn I have multiple degenerative discs so if Advil, Aleve, heat and rest don't do the trick I end up in the doctor's office with another script. I would love to hear what others have to say because this is my problem in a nutshell. We have pain.. but get addicted.. what to do?
