I take prilosec. It's the ONLY thing that works for me. Tums is a temporary fix and milk is not good at all. Milk is actually acidic which makes it worse in the long run. But one prilosec daily I could eat whatever I wanted! It is pricey though but I promise its worth it! Tums is cheaper but there is a reason for that you know?

You can get Prilosec OTC, they sell it at Walgreens, and cheaper at Costco, it is for fourteen days, if you want something that works faster than Pepcid AC, they are 20mg and work in 20-30 minutes, Stay away from Tomato, Tomato sauce, citric fruit or juice, garlic and onion, and carbonated beverages and alcoholic beverages, including wine, A little chiken broth is always good and smoe caffein free tea. and toast. You can google for a full list of foods to stay away from with Acid Reflux.

If you were my patient, I would advise you that you could try Prevacid or Prilosec for a week or so to see if it makes any difference. Sometimes reflux disease (which is much more common in pregnancy) can cause nausea/vomiting in the early a.m. If you don't notice an improvement, it could be just related to the pregnancy, and not to reflux. It is possible that you will just have to count down the days til the baby is born.

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.

I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.

You may want something like Prilosec or Bentyl for the stomach too. Try drinking yogurt type smoothy shakes ... avoid caffeine and carbonation. Warm flat 7-UP is good (open and sit out).. Use ensure or Walgreens brand liquid nutrition ......... ice yogurt ..... heating pad on abdomine ...... the benzo's will relax stomach muscles ... push fluids - H2O especially - renal kidney failure would be like cardiac heart attack!! Post again if you have problems getting the appetite back in gear ...

I have been for a entire year now (thank God for that) so I just had a sonogram done on my stomach which takes about 3 days but in the meantime doctor gave me Prilosec and told me to stay away from caffeine and asprin and ibuprofen but in the meantime...I am scared to eat or drink so what could these pains possibly be?

exactly. I was surprised to see it at walgreens, I guess. i would never put total faith into it, but I thought it would be fun. Wanted to talk to others who have used it. Once you put the word "scam" with something, it doesnt seem nearly as fun anymore. haha. thanks for saving me $30!

I was curious to know if anyone out there has or is taking this new drug that Walgreens is using to replace the Armour? I was taking Armour 90mg 5 days a week and 60mg the other 2 days. In August my numbers were: TSH 0.51 (0.34-4.82) FT4 0.43 (0.6-1.6) FT3 2.45 (2.3-4.2) 2 months ago I up medication to 90mg ea day, also about that same time Walgreens switched Armour to this new generic natural thyroid drug. I just had tesst done: same ref range TSH - 0.04 FT4 - 1.03 FT3 - 3.

Besides the cost, is their truly a difference between Nexim and Prilosec. The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.

Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past.

I been taken prilosec otc for 14 days for heart burn.its the best med out there.so i finished the 14 day trial and i dont have heart burn any more but i still feel a little small burn so i asked a pharmacyst if its safe to take more than 14 days she said yes it is but the resson the box sais to consult a doctor is to make sure its not self medicated .

Is there an appropriate way of getting off of Prilosec? I have been taking it for almost two months and starting to think that all the symptoms I am experiencing are from the Prilosec. After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?

my doctor will not let off prilosec i am scared i been on this medicine to long i heard alot of bad things if you take it long time you can get esophaus cancer .

Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.

I've been taking Prilosec for a month now, it started helping but then stopped. Then when I went to my doctor Thursday, she switched me to Protonix. Prilosec made me feel weirded out and almost out of it like depressed... my husband says it turned me into a zombie... it worked wonders for my acid reflux though.. you defintly have to watch what you eat as well though.. I had an endoscopy as well as a mannometry test done and my lower esophogus is weak... since the prilosec worked but gave me weird side effects my GI dr put me on Aciphex which works just as great and no weird side effects from it.
