Prilosec vs pepcid

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec vs pepcid

prilosec

I took that for 4 months until my health insurance ran out. Now I have tried Prilosec OTC and Omeprazole OTC. They are both 20mg and I just now realized the prescription Omperazole is also. I have been having burning throat in the morning and stomach upsets for a few months now. I was also getting symptoms with the prescription Omeprazole and is one reason I decided to try the OTC drugs.
I have a script for Protonix and it works wonderfully but the script is very expensive so I've been taking OTC Zegerid and Prilosec whis is actually Omeprazole. Both of those drugs cause me severe side effects..quite scarry actually. Is Protonix and Nexium the same thing? Are Protonix and Nexium considered H2 Inhibitiors instead of PPI's? I see that I can purchase nexium at Wal-Mart and Wal-greens at a reasonable price. Thanks in advance for any help or direction.
I do not have severe acid reflux however, as I suspected I do have abnormal levels of acid in my throat. I have tried Pevacid, Prilosec and Protonix and none of those helped. If this doesn't help, I am told there probably is nothing that can be done. That leads me to this...what is the success rate of Nexium vs the others and will it interfere with any natural supplements that I am already taking? I was also told that it is possible that i do have a floating hiatal hernia.
Lastly, for maxium absorption, don't take antacids within 2 hours of the ribavirin. PPI's like Nexium, Prilosec and Aciphex are OK to take with the riba, as are OTC H-2 pumps like Zantac and Pepcid AC. Pepsid Complete, on the other hand, contains an antacid, so it should also be spaced away from the riba. Same with Gaviscon -- space it away from the riba.
Can she take pepcid or prilosec? I was ok'd for them, but you might need to check with her dr.. Maybe on foods baked chicken, creamed or baked potatoes, popsicles, sherbert, light toast, soft scrambled egg, some vegetables like cooked mashed carrots, asparagus (tender like in can). I could tolerate cheerios after they softened in milk. Try eating small portions several times a day vs. meals. No fatty, fried, spicy foods. Hope she feels better soon.
Just my two cents as a patient ... I take Prevacid w/o a problem that is very pricy vs generic for Prilosec. I'd ask your Dr and see what he/she thinks, too ?
Yesterday however, I had a visit with my OBGYN who is completely against nexium, prilosec or any other drug except for zantac. I tried taking zantac, but I do not feel any relief whatsoever. I consulted pharmacists and other doctors who clearly state that it is safe to take nexium during pregnancy. I am sure I am not the only pregnant woman with this problem, can someone please advise as to whether nexium is safe to take during pregnancy and if you actually took it and your babies are healthy.
Oh I did take Prilosec for about 8 weeks but was able to taper off that using Pepcid. If you want more info on that, let me know.
4 at night, and have had this plus terrible stomach pain and gurgling ever since. Doc had me start on Prilosec OTC for 6 weeks, and discontinue the Naproxen on Feb.5 as well as Immodium but have had no relief from diarrhea or stomach pain yet. I was unable to take either ribasphere or Levothyroxine on Feb. 5. Doctor insinuated that the 2 days of Naproxen could be source of my stomach problems, and could have caused an ulcer, which Prilosec is to treat.
//healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex/ I think it completely answers question #1. Question #2. One thought is that since V has to work in the digestive system, and since Pepto-bismo coats that system, it must stop it from working. But let me go off an a tangent here. You mention how V is now causing you anxiety. While that can happen, something like adderall is much more prone to do so.
I can have it in the middle of the night or day. There is an improvement when I take Pepcid or Diovel, but the best bet is Ovol extra strenth or Gax X. If I don't take anything it can get pretty scarey and last a long time. My entire chest throbs, my esophogus feels tight and I feel a pressure on the back of my tongue. Also feel a sudden fatigue.
I don't have an infection that I know about--no glands are swollen. I am on statins for high cholesterol and take OTC Prilosec for GERD. I am also on birth control continuously (for the estrogen). I am in the process of trying to find an internal medicine specialist since my latest blood reports show my cholesterol not improving & a HS-CRP of 10.19. I wonder if this isn't all related.
Google these on line - they will help - I will put the names in English vs. sanskrit - wind-relieving pose (or child pose if you prefer kneeling), lunge posture, half pigeon posture or sleeping pigeon both sides, prone twist both sides, corpse pose with support under the upper legs. All can be done on the floor. Spend at least 1-3 minutes per posture. Crawl out of bed 20 minutes early and start the sequence.
