Avatar n tn There can be side-effects with the use of PPIs - no drug is without side-effects unfortunately. They can include changes to bone density - more ease of fracture - and anemic states due to loss of B12 uptake. Changes in bowel habits and loose stools can be a result of the use of PPIs. If you cut down on acid, you cut down on the amount of food that's thoroughly digested and able to be absorbed. Those materials will cause changes in the output of the digestive system in a number of ways.
268911 tn?1213744781 If so can you tell me if you are having side effects from them? I currently take one 20mg Prilosec tablet and they seem to make me dizzy and light headed. I also notice pain in my lower abdomin.
268911 tn?1213744781 I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.
568812 tn?1379165794 Hi i am on 40mg of Omeprazole for acid reflux. Has anyone here had side effects from it like loose stools? For the past two weeks or so my bowel movements have been rather odd...loose in the morning but ok towards the end of the day...no blood, but causing soreness around my anus afterwards....
Avatar f tn There are a lot of side-effects when PPIs are taken. Constipation and diarrhea can be two of them.

711158 tn?1229544700 To best try and answer some of your questions, we need to know what blood tests for thyroid have been run and what were the actual results. If free T3 and free T4 have not been run, along with the usual TSH, then that would be a good idea to have done. I have no experience with BP being affected by thyroid, so I'll leave that for other members.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?
709686 tn?1277432159 I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.
Avatar m tn With a dose of clopidogrel + Aspirin (150 mg) for the past 3 years following an MI I find little side effects to bother. Will it be safe for me to continue on this medication for a more long period to come without adverse side effects?
Avatar n tn It has no reported interactions with weight loss 4 pills but it is not advisable to ue weight loss 4 pills without a doctor’s guidance. It has plenty of side effects like diarrhea, oily stools, gas, flatulence, and other systemic side effects. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
1387175 tn?1326400997 Saw an endo doc and she told me to not take the Nexium or Omeprazole (Prilosec) due to the possible side effects. Called my doc the other day because I have had stomach pain and feeling of nausea. He tells me to take the Omeprazole!!! Next day, no better so asked the pharmacist if I could take it 3 times a day instead of twice. He told me I was already on twice the dose and should only be taking it once a day (20 mg).
Avatar n tn I have been on reflux meds for the past 5yrs and have had numerous side effects from hyperhydrosis, a tremor in my hand (which I was on propranolol for about 1yr 9mths for), and most recently a tic has developed in my eyelids. The hydrosis has finally went away (4.5yrs later) and the hand tremor is minimal but my eyelids are going nuts. I am assuming its the drugs for reflux (I am having surgery for that soon). Does anyone know of anything else that would be causing this?
581954 tn?1223391496 m not really sure of the side effects of Omeprazole (Prilosec). But I do know you might be able to find some info on it in the Health Pages Tab. Were you tested for Thyroid problems? And I'm not talking about them just pulling a TSH value on you. You would need FreeT3 and FreeT4 values for it to be sufficient info to see if you have a Thyroid issue. The fatigue, light headedness, nausea, and heart burn/ GERD are all symptoms of Thyroid issues.
Avatar f tn Until two days ago, I had been taking Prilosec OTC, 40 mgs. daily. I'm now taking the generic Omeprazole capsules, prescription. I switched to the generic version because it's covered by my insurance and it's a lot cheaper. I was told both meds were the same. However, after taking the generic Omep. capsules, I got bad side effects. I've never had any side effects from the Prilosec OTC. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a significant difference in the two.
Avatar f tn Read the side effects to the prilosec, I know Nexium and others can have side effects that include diarrhea.
Avatar f tn re definitely gonna experience those serious side effects in which you are talking about. JMO.
Avatar m tn t work, then you can try something stronger like Prilosec. Keep in mind, Prilosec may come with a lot of side effects that can be just as bothersome as the GERD. I was prescribed Prilosec and took it for six weeks until I couldn't take it any longer. Too many side effects for me. It basically blocks acid from the stomach, and while it is effective at getting rid of heartburn, you may experience a rebound once you stop taking them.
Avatar n tn I feel straight up like I have a demon inside me pushing acid and food to the edge of my throat. I feel like I'm choking to death, seriously! Does it get better after taking the PPI's (Omeprazole)? I am against taking any kind of medication and I have refrained from taking medication for years for such things as headaches, or any type of aches or pain but this seems to me life or death. I am seriously choking when I lay down.
