prilosec safe during pregnancy

t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. I have a doctors appt. on Thursday and hate waiting to know if prilosec is safe or not. I'm going to try and not take it till I see the doctor.

Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.

Just like anit-depresssants(some) are not recommended but the dr prescribes it bcuz it may harm the mom if she stops them and again, go with the low chances of something possibly could happen to baby, but again, going my statics My best friend has high blood pressure, and needed to continue to take her medication while preggo, and the drug was not recommended, dr needed to weigh outcome, take her off the meds, or risk her having a stroke, heart attack or other problems associated with high bl

i "believe" you can take it....the only i could find online, says to let your dr know you have/are taking it....the key ingredient, ranitidine, can be passed through breastmilk..... most dr's give you a list of "approved OTC meds", and most of them show what can be taken at different stages of pregnancy.....idk if prilosec has been "ok'd", HOWEVER i do know that for normal people, it can cause huge stomach issues, so def stay away from that!!!!!

Nexium is a category B heartburn medicine and safe to take during pregnancy.

Noo ask ur doctor first!!

Hi ladies , I have been getting allot of heart burn recently and I would like to know if tums is safe to take when u are pregnant . My pharmacist says it's ok but I want to be sure before for i take it.

The first time I had heartburn I took Prilosec. It works wonders! It's a 24 hour medicine. I highly recommend it and it's safe during pregnancy.

My GI doc has put me on Prilosec daily 20 mg from now on. Is it safe to turn this acid production off for the rest of your life??

Zantac is great for a 12 hr fix when sypmtoms start, but Prilosec is also safe during pregnancy & prevents symptoms from even starting. My doctor put me on once daily Prilosec in the morning on an empty stomach & I haven't had one bout of heartburn in 5 weeks.Check it out & see if it's something for you.

Thanks for you comment, tea causes heartburn when i drink it, ranatidine is not safe during pregnancy that's what the doctor told me, Dramamine didn't work for me....

Elevate your head while you sleep and drink mylanta. Both that and tums are safe during pregnancy but tums don't work as well.

I had it terrible with my daughter and I have it again! I'm 17 weeks. I've had it for several weeks now. If I drink a glass of water I get heartburn. Lol. I take tums, but will probably switch over to something a little stronger soon. I can't remember id it's Prilosec or Zantac that is pregnancy safe and I took with my daughter, but I'm going to ask my Dr at my appt this week. I have tried milk... I hate milk... didnt work for me.

i had to start takin prilosec 1x a day and its safe for.

I had allergies really bad at the begging of my pregnancy i got allegra d 24 hours and it helped out allot and my baby girl is healthy as can be

u can take prilosec its safe during pregnancy but there are special mommy to be teas and remedies ate your local organic produce stores or herb shops that do wonders. Don't eat anything high in acid or spicy foods obviously :) no fast food! No Mexican or Italian, nothing with tomato sauce, no oranges, melon fruits will not give u heartburn. Green veggies can reduce heartburn if u eat with din. Goodluck!

I have had a lot of heartburn during my pregnancy. Pretty much all through. I've taken Zantac for it all throughout my pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks today.

I have posted this a couple times so it may be a repeat for people who have already read it...but my cousin had really bad heartburn and acid reflux when she would try to go to sleep at night but hated taking medicine, so she would mix about a tsp of baking soda with a small cup of water, just warm enough to help it dissolve and just enough water to chug. She would chug that then wash it down with a glass of regular water.

He took me off the others because they are harmful to the baby during pregnancy and said that if any problems arise he will put me on something safer but most of the safer meds are only safe after the first trimester. Every time I have been pregnant though they always take me off my metaformin and put me on insulin saying it is safer for the baby.

You can find it at walmart with the zantec it is completely safe during pregnancy ive had to take it with both of mine.

My doctor told me I could take Zantac or Prilosec. It helps, but I dont' take it on a regular basis, only when I know I am going to need to eat something and the acid is really bad. I don't like to take medications unless necessary, but sometimes the acidity is so bad I can't eat (which isn't good either). Yogurt helps a lot also. Usually in the middle of the night if I wake up with bad acidity then I eat some yogurt and it soothes my throat a little.

There are other things that are safe to take during pregnancy for heartburn and the doctor is a doctor for a reason. I deff say listen. I wouldn't wanna find out any known risks either. Do u really know what a class c drug means?? Just because it says that u think its safe? I would rethink that. Good luck to you.
