It will clear up for a day or 2 & then its back again. Abd us showed mild increase in gallbladder polyp & mild fatty liver. I already take prilosec 2x day for reflux. I am at a complete loss at what to do.Any suggestions would be appreeciated.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar f tn I was also told to take the Synthroid in the am and Prilosec in pm. I had not considered Prilosec as a possible reason, but I had noticed that my temp. had gone down and I felt the need for more thyroid. When I understood the need to check free T3 and the doctor checked it, I found that I was not converting T4 to T3 very well. So starting 4 days ago, I was switched to a T4/T3 type of med.---Armour thyroid. I felt better after the very first day and now I feel great.
Avatar n tn s esophagus wherein the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by a lining more like that of the stomach or intestine. It is thought that this replacement may be an attempt by the body to protect itself from further injury by acid. The risk of esophageal cancer appears to increase significantly in patients with Barrett's esophagus. The only way to diagnose Barrett's esophagus is by endoscopy. http://www.querycat.
Avatar n tn Besides the cost, is their truly a difference between Nexim and Prilosec. The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past.
1943416 tn?1324166761 I been taken prilosec otc for 14 days for heart burn.its the best med out there.so i finished the 14 day trial and i dont have heart burn any more but i still feel a little small burn so i asked a pharmacyst if its safe to take more than 14 days she said yes it is but the resson the box sais to consult a doctor is to make sure its not self medicated .
Avatar m tn Is there an appropriate way of getting off of Prilosec? I have been taking it for almost two months and starting to think that all the symptoms I am experiencing are from the Prilosec. After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?
Avatar f tn Noo ask ur doctor first!!
572731 tn?1217200491 Ok I'm no expert, but I grew up with a Mum who suffered/suffers with severe GERD. Her throat is smaller than the size of a pencil! She's been suffering now for 15 years continuously. So I can understand your concern. I also have a child (20mo) who suffers with GERD. His seems to be genetic. Here's what we're going through: --Prilosec was given at 2mo old to stop seizures. At 6 mo old the seizures stopped.
Avatar f tn Anyone with HepC taking 20 mg. of Prilosec? My dr. said ok to take, but I'd feel better if anyone else is/has used it. Either a prescription or OTC.
Avatar n tn I chose this topic because i've had pain, moderate to severe, for at least 5 years But at this moment my main complaint is not being able to get a deep breath for about 3 days now. Back in Aug.of 2008 I had an endoscopy done. I didn't hear from them and assumed all was ok. Mid Sept. I was accepted into a Johnson & Johnson disc replacement study and had T6/T7 disc replaced in hopes of some pain relief. The surgery was a success and the main pain in my arm is gone.
454221 tn?1259445739 t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. I have a doctors appt. on Thursday and hate waiting to know if prilosec is safe or not. I'm going to try and not take it till I see the doctor.
Avatar m tn Now I am worried and trying to understand if the Prilosec caused it. The blood pressure is also higher especially the systolic at 140 to 150. Is Prilosec known to have an effect directly on urine albumin or indirectly through blood pressure? I have read warnings about kidney disease being associated with the long term use of PPIs. I have to take Prilosec for another 3 weeks. Any insights or guidance will be appreciated.

1387175 tn?1326400997 my doctor will not let off prilosec i am scared i been on this medicine to long i heard alot of bad things if you take it long time you can get esophaus cancer .
Avatar n tn I have been taking Prilosec OTC and my Doctor prescribed Nexium. It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.
Avatar f tn Mtgoat, I really hesitate to say this but reglan is not a replacement for any PPI. It's a pro-motility drug and it needs to be taken in a specific manner and it cannot be continued for long periods of time. PLEASE fully discuss the correct use of this med with your doc. As the other poster mentioned, reglan can have some very, very serious drawbacks.

Avatar f tn Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.
497348 tn?1283436066 So I was wondering if you had any oppinion about this.... You sound like you know what is going on... So I was prescribed Prilosec for heart burn, so when my doctor wanted me to go off of celexa I took it 5 days in a row at night with my prilosec.... Because this weekend that just got over was the weekend of me meeting my inlaws... So I wanted to keep taking celexa to avoid any anxiety... But first let me back up.
2169899 tn?1354674056 Omg this heartburn indigestion is killing me! Ive taken prilosec and yum...neithers,working...any advice.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Prilosec for a month now, it started helping but then stopped. Then when I went to my doctor Thursday, she switched me to Protonix. If they are basically the same, could Protonix work for me if Prilosec OTC didn't? I'd really like to know because I've had this problem for almost 3 months now and I'm tired of eating plain food.
1387175 tn?1326400997 Prilosec made me feel weirded out and almost out of it like depressed... my husband says it turned me into a zombie... it worked wonders for my acid reflux though.. you defintly have to watch what you eat as well though.. I had an endoscopy as well as a mannometry test done and my lower esophogus is weak... since the prilosec worked but gave me weird side effects my GI dr put me on Aciphex which works just as great and no weird side effects from it.
