Avatar f tn Does anyone know if pepcid is safe to take for indegestion and heartburn? At night I can barely sleep because of the burn I have in my stomach. I'm 6 wks so they told me to take tums. I took one and I had a bad chest pain so I called again and my OBGYNs nurse said to take pepcid. But she also said all medications aren't 100% safe. Should I take it anyways?
Avatar f tn Rolaids, Tums, Maalox, Mylanta, Simethicone, Zantac, Pepcid, Prilosec
Avatar m tn If so are H2 meds like Pepcid and Zantac ok, or are PPI meds like Prilosec and Prevacid better? Thanks and have a great day!
7797471 tn?1397188658 I'm 32 weeks and have been having the worst acid reflux and heart burn. I told my Midwife and she said Prilosec I think or it could've been Pepcid. I forgot and am not sure which one. Does anyone know?
Avatar f tn About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago. I stopped the Prilosec and lo and behold the PVC's are gone or at least back to the minimal occurance that they were before.
Avatar f tn They had me on Pepcid and Prilosec before but my side effects were too bad
Avatar f tn Pepcid AC works in 30 min
Avatar f tn After I was out of the first trimester, i was given a script for Pepcid. I was allowed to take OTC zantac, pepcid, etc... but it was cheaper to get a prescription. My daughter did not have any problems at all with reflux. I am now pregnant with #2. I was surprised that the first trimester wasn't too bad with the heart burn. It came back full force in the second trimester, and I am on pepcid again. My OB is very cautious with meds, and my DH is a pharmacist.
1387175 tn?1326400997 my doctor will not let off prilosec i am scared i been on this medicine to long i heard alot of bad things if you take it long time you can get esophaus cancer .
Avatar f tn Omg, I thought I would never find anyone else who has cramps that feel like labor as I do. People would think I was "faking"... wow. Now I am thinking it maybe caused by stomach uclers, I was told last year I COULD be in a "pre-ucler" stage because of my chest pains I always have, but not really in my chest, but below my breast area in the middle. I was also told to take prevacid or prilosec and told to stop taking naproxen.
Avatar f tn Famotidine is Pepcid which works in the same way that Zantac works...I didn't have much luck on Zantac so now I'm on Prilosec and it works wonderfully...but famotidine is considered safer for pregnancy then prilosec...
Avatar f tn Pepcid is a life saver!!! Tums don't work for me and make me nauseous.
Avatar f tn Pepcid ac works wonders...I love that minty feeling it gives right after you take it!
Avatar f tn Taking OTC meds would help you to find relief and know if reflux is possible. Pepcid, Prilosec and others are common in the Rx stores. You should ask (phone) your doctor about otc brands. They should not be a problem if taken as directed. Pepcid types are quick acting, Prilosec will kick in a bit further in the day (hour or so), both should be taken daily. I find PPIs are more powerful, so you might start with the others. I take mine before evening meal so it will last thru the nite.
Avatar f tn I was put on 10mg of Pepcid 2x a day. My trial Dr. said that Prilosec didn't let you have enough of the acid. They said with the Pepcid there is no time barrier to take it. Said I had better chance of trial meds working if I stay away from the Prilosec. I am into 8wks of trial and totally undetected. I am on sofosbuvir 400 & GS-5186 100mg no riba, 12 weeks. Geno type 2a/2c.
2170099 tn?1364144503 I do not like taking medicine because i do not think it is good for you, but I had heartburn so bad it was making me ill. The Dr. told me to take pepcid, and I did and I am soooo much better now. The heartburn should go away when the baby comes and then i hope to stop the pepcid. It was so bad I wasn't even eating. I figured that was worse then taking the pill twice a day. You can take the off brand version too.
168348 tn?1379357075 m ready to go to the Vet she is fine) and $103 later we know she has a bacterial ear infection cause he swabbed/microscoped the ear and probably reflux that has been flared on by the ear infection. I have to give her Pepcid AC at night (5.0mg) and make sure she goes to sleep with a treat or two so as not to sleep on an empty stomach! I post a lot on the Ped GERD board .. but now my dog? Two of my 4 kids suffer from GERD .. now my DOG, too? My daughter had her gallbladder removed in January .
Avatar n tn I too have GERD, and I take the same medication as you. I have never had any problem with Prilosec, 20-mg. The OTC Prilosec is 10-mg, and I take two capsules a day if my prescription at the VA is late. I have never noticed my bowel movement smells any worst than it normally does. There is a test you can do to judge whether Prilosec is affecting your bowels. There are about 4 or 5 competitors to Prilosec. Examples are Zantac, Prevacid, 15-mg; Pepcid 20-mg.
7714818 tn?1394784539 You can take Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta, Simethicone, Zantac, Pepcid, Prilosec. I've gotten heart burn bad the past 2 weeks but lately haven't had it.
Avatar f tn Maybe one of the antacids like prevacid, prilosec. Another one is Omeprazole that you can buy over the counter. Two more, Pepcid and Zantac. Otherwise, go to the doc.
Avatar f tn My Dr. told me to get on pepcid because mine was so bad I was getting sick and nauseous. I thought I kept getting the flu but it was all from my heart burn. I do not like taking medication, especially while pregnant but because of how sick I was I had no choice. I am now feeling 100% better and even feel like I have more energy.
