"...Patients using clopidogrel should consult with their healthcare provider if they are currently taking or considering taking omeprazole, including Prilosec OTC" but then, there's also this: http://www.

Avatar m tn 17, 2009 - The FDA today warned patients not to combine Plavix with Nexium, Prilosec, and nine other drugs -- including Prozac and Tagamet. The drugs may make the anti-clotting drug Plavix dangerously less effective, the FDA says. They block an enzyme in the body that turns the drug into its active form. Plavix is the second most-prescribed drug in the world.

1654177 tn?1319838494 In addition, I was told that I must take Zantac OTC (150 x twice a day is ok) no closer than 10 hours before dosing with the study drugs and no sooner than 2 hours afterwards. This is according to protocol. I have heard before that some drugs interfere with the actions of other drugs. There is also another question you may ask your docs and yourself. If I can take my other meds, when is the best time to do so?
Avatar n tn My husband is on so many medications, that i am truly worried about his health and the interaction of all these drugs. I will list them all and can you please tell me if they are safe to take with one another? My husband is only 38, he had a stroke last year he had a stent put in, now he is on plavix, atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, last week his doc added niacin 500 mg, simvastatin 20, flexeril and tramadol, also his one aspirin each day, these are just so many meds, are they safe?
Avatar f tn ve been through some pretty stressful things including having serotonin syndrome from a rare drug interaction between lexapro and Prilosec. I thought I was going to die. Since than my anxiety has been 100 and they had me start taking 3 .5 Xanax a day and it wasnt working. So my doctor suggested Klonopin. I took it yesterday all day and than had insomnia all night and don't know if my body is going through withdrawals from no Xanax. I was steady 3 times a day for about three months.
497348 tn?1283436066 I vaguely remember that my Omeprazole and Citalopram are not a common drug interaction, but a psychiatrist that I know and work with told me that it has been heard of when someone takes celexa and prilosec together that the prlosec can multiply the dose of celexa in the liver and instead of taking 10 mg its like taking 20... So once this panic attack happened it was almost like the diagnosis of Serotonin Syndrome, to know that for sure is merely impossible ,but a logical guess.
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
1210142 tn?1266077031 The miracle of statistics makes this sigfnificant. With that small a real reduction, those smaller still inflences from other drugs may not really show up unless they are impressive.. And pantoprazole isn't as impressive as omeprazole. Mind you, even the NSRI class of antidepressants have some effect on bleeding to you have a higher risk of bleeding taking them with clopidogrel -. Don't hear much about that, though.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if there are any long term effects on your memory from any of these drugs or mixing these drugs? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Rankett is right on, DO NOT DRINK WHILE YOU ARE ON DRUGS. Especially on certain antibiotics - drinking can cause dangerous interactions with the drugs. I don't know if yours would have this kind of interaction, but for God's sake why even chance it? How long's your drug regimen? A week? Two? Surely you can go that long without drinking.
1904872 tn?1325822415 Hi, How are you? As long as you do not have allergies with the medicine, there is nothing to be worried about. If you had finished your anti-Koch's medications already, there is no possible interaction with the previous drugs you took. Take the antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor to make sure that the throat infection is cured. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn If you have been taking the combination together for a long time there is no risk of overdose. The problem with certain drugs is that they reduce the ability of the body to metabolize the drug, usually by oxidation but in some cases by reduction. This, initially the drug does not completely metabolize and has an extended half-life. This why it is dangerous to take grapefruit juice with certain medications. Follow me on this.

Avatar f tn I was shopping in the grocery store when I started feeling stomach pains in my upper middle stomach. I felt light-headed also & hot. I quickly got done/headed home. Now I am having stomach pains that come like waves & middle of chest also (spasms). Last time this happened, I ended up in ER with pain meds & it was the gerd as I had not been taking the prilosec every day to save on pills. Well this time, I haven't been skimping, so am concerned.
