Prilosec in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec in dogs

I have been on Prevacid and Prilosec. I LOVE my Prilosec, it allows me to feel like a normal person. Without it I am in pain, not only in my chest, but in my arms, neck, face, and various weird places on my body.It took about 3 months before I had true relief and you MUST take your pill at the same time every day. You should never miss a dose because it will set you back to square one. I hope you find results!
Is there any reason why I can't carry him in? They're both tiny breeds and are not good with the other big dogs, so I have to carry them. This one, the Maltese, is very small and needs to be carried for sure.
I have two dogs that will vomit stomach acid if they aren't fed right when they first wake up in the morning. Instead of giving them pills, I give them a few oyster crackers or a small dog biscuit and they're good to go till it's feeding time an hour or two later. Works every time. Just a thought if you want to save some money and avoid giving your dog medicine.
Hi, there are a whole bunch of postings under "chronic cough" which seem similar to this. And some good ideas I am going to try I have had a constant cough for 3 plus years and for last year it has been phlegmy like yours. I am always coughing and clearing my throat at meetings like an old man. Worse in a.m. when I wake up or out in cold walking the dogs. Or.... talking on the telephone or in a meeting. Always have a "frog" in my throat.
Prilosec, 10-gm x 2, is good to keep your stomach in check. I have GERD, and I take Prilosec, 20-mg, once a day. I know that guys whose wifes or girl friends have Human Papilloma Virus(HPV)can contract the virus from sexual relations. You should confirm whether your regular doctor thinks you can get your wife's yeast infection. Your liver makes bile and it is stored in the gallbladder. The gallbladder empties bile into the digestive tract to assist with digestion.
I wake every morning with horrible pain in lower back (kidney area) that radiates to the front of stomach (rib area). I have had battery of tests and found nothing. I am only able to sleep 5-6 hours before pain wakes me, also unable to take a deep breath until I get out of bed (very painful just to roll over), once I stand and get out of bed the pain almost immediately starts to ease. After about 20 minutes of walking around and after first morning void, pain disappears for remainder of day.
I don't have allergies of any kind and I'm in excellent health and I can learn to live with the smell of fresh baked bread in my nostrils.. I mean it could be owrse.. still I think I should get someone to check this out especially as I read about Phantom smells being a possible side efect of brain tumors...
About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
I had to take another capsule of omeprazole and eat some hot dogs to relieve the extreme discomfort. Whatever I have, I have just learned never to stress out with it. I had about twenty minutes of the worse discomfort ever! It makes the normal stuff pale in comparison. I have made a list of of all my symptoms to give to the doctor - last time I went in there I forgot to tell him just about everything in the 20 minute appointment I had - and this is going on it.
They are very random and can occur when she's sitting, walking, running or laying in bed. They also can occur once in a day or week, or several times in the same day. She has had ultrasounds, xrays, mri's, vein tests, nerve tests, etc., and no doctor yet has diagnosed her problem. It scares the heck out of me sometimes because it comes on so quick that there is a violent jerk reaction followed by cries of pain and agony.
That's his OWN experience and doesn't mean you'll get the same. Once again, it's not proven yet except in dogs. It hasn't proved in humans (who would give cardiopoison to humans?!?) so it's not known if it'll do the same for humans.
There is a medication called Cerenia, which is highly effective for vomitiing in dogs. It is also expensive. Beyond that, I have a doberman who has been vomiting now for more than a year and a half. He's had every test known to the veterinary world, without any abnormalities. My dog vomits only when his stomach is very empty, though. The Cerenia really, really helps. He's been on it for about 3 months now.
The problem of dogs eating their own, or other dogs', stool is fairly common, and most dogs outgrow it. In the meantime, you must deny him access to his stool by cleaning it up immediately. There are no dietary supplements that have been shown to prevent this problem. 2. Most dog owners cut their dog's nails too short, possibly hitting the "quick" and making future nail trims a rodeo of sorts. Nails should be trimmed even with the bottom of the foot pads.
That unilateral tonsillar enlargement, especially in the presence of negative bacterial cultures, is rarely on the basis of allergy, and should be approached in the same way as any other mass in the body. Assuming your tonsil is still enlarged, you should have it re-examined by the ENT.
One thing about pepcid - I haven't found it helps with nausea in my dogs either, and sometimes it causes them to lose their appetite altogether. Just something to watch out for in the future.
He has been to an allergist and was told he was allergic to so many things but didn't take that very seriously b/c he has never had a problem with all those things in the past. He is scheduled to see a dermatologist in January. We really need help. This is driving my poor father crazy and makes him miserable. We have two small house dogs for 8 years now....he couldn't have developed an allergy to them could he?
If you have gerd, SAY GOODBYE to pizza, Mcdonalds, hot dogs, white bread, gaseous beverages, kentucky fry chicken, chicken wings, mexican food, etc and Say hello to green leaves, salads, olive oil, fish, lean chicken , whole wheat bread and purified water. and exercise.
Also dogs eating a raw diet can shed these bacteria in their scales which can affect humans. As a vet tech whenever a dog on raw diet comes in we ALWAYS suit up with protection. When I was pregnant my ob-gyn advised me to steer clear of raw diet dogs because humans with weakened immune systems like pregnant women, children or anyone with autoimmune issues can easily contract harmful bacteria from their shedding. Be careful!
I had to consider now that their food might be the culprit, although I tried changing it once before without success. When 2 dogs in a household have a vomiting problem, it HAS to be something they both are exposed to that is causing it. So I looked again at food. They are on a very high quality dog food, and have been since we moved here 2 years ago. To me, it doesn't make sense that it would be their food, since the puking happens on an empty stomach, and not after eating....
I never gave her the Pepcid AC as I only had Prilosec in the house and wasn't sure and the reflux is gone anyway ..
The doc suspected it was the tylenol in the norco that made me ill. i got upset stopach, so I took 2 mg of kilonipin, and it calmed a bit. there are medicine patches like duragesic. Does these things help people from getting sick? If I have totally ruined my body and can no longer take meds it is totally the perfect ending to it all. How pathetic.
Every once in awhile, I get SEVERE pains in the chest. I had a stress test done in 2004 while I was in the military, as well as an ultrasound just a couple years later. (Not sure of exact time frame.) The only problem that was found was a VERY tiny bit of leakage from my heart, but I was assured that it was normal to have just a tiny bot of leakage. In the last few years, this pain has gotten worse. Especially in the last year or so! Like tonight...
who knows The nausea was so bad I had to be rehydrated 3 times in the ER. Ginger root steeped in hot water really helped. Today I get very nauseous with migraines and drink ginger tea - and just recently found a flavored water - peppermint water that helped with the last bout.

She has been coughing for the past 6 months. The 2 other dogs are in perfect health and have not developed a cough. I have outlined below the steps that have occurred during the past 6 months. - Month 1 - Normal coughing with a foamy white substance coming up after cough. She eats grass. She was prescribed antibiotics and small strength of steroids. This helped a little but didn't cure it.
Hi, I had my ablation 2 weeks order to reach the area they needed to ablate they had to go in through my chest with a catheter (epicardial approach) thing I have noticed since my procedure is that i have the worst heartburn. I think I could own stock in rolaids and tums :)... I have NEVER had heartburn before this. I am taking 325mg of aspirin per day for the next 6 weeks.
My throat just feels kind of constricted, and when i breathe through my mouth, i have a wheeze comming from my THROAT, which you can hear only if you were in close proximity to me, and it was quiet in the room. I have also been having what FEELS like excess mucus in my throat which makes me having to keep clearing it. I have no cough, but when I make myself cough to try and get some phlegm up, nothing comes up or even feels like anything budges.
I was dx'd with two duodenal ulcers in Nov 07. I've been on Prilosec 2xday for 6mos. I called in a refill and the GI doctor only ok'd once a day. I called the office and spoke to the nurse who confirmed this was not a mistake. I told the nurse my stomach still hurts and I have an appt for an Endoscopy on June 4th so please tell the doctor I would like to continue on Prilosec twice a day until I have my test.
Try feeding her earlier, raising the end of her bed or basket that she uses for her head (so that the food won't come back up) this might even help with the breathing even if it's heart or lung related. My vet said they use Zantac on dogs in their clinic but I don't know what kind of dose. Some of those tablets can be dangerous. Is she overweight? Losing weight might help. Also feeding her with her bowl above her head so that the food is helped down by gravity.
