1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Haven't done any research or asked a Vet. All I know is, that it is EFFECTIVE and long lasting. The chemical name(s):: 'ONDANSETRON ODT'...4mg or 'ZOFRAN ODT'....4mg (Mfg.
Avatar m tn He is on Denamarin ¼ tablet for small to mediun dogs, 1 Prednisone tablet 5mg in the morning, ½ 250mg Metronidazole pill in the morning, and ¼ Prilosec in the morning! At night he only gets ¼ Prilosec! He has been holding his own for about a year now. Yesterday he started the head tilt and really stiff walking. He pants and drinks lots of water. He was diagnosed with high liver enzymes. He does also have some mouth/teeth problems but can’t go under the anesthesia to get a dental!
Avatar f tn I've had 3 docs prescribe prevacid and prilosec and one who said its bad to have any. I miscarried when I wasnt on anything and the babies I've had are all fine despite the prilosec. Some docs are more cautious. My doc now is a high risk ob/gyn with experience in fetal development issues and he says its fine. Talk to your doc or a different one...its not good to be so miserable you can't eat...for you or baby.

Avatar n tn Hello, I would like some help putting my Prilosec worry into perspective. For 5 months in 2007, as a 32-year-old male, I took 20mg of Prilosec twice a day to help with "silent reflux". I've recently read a number of articles that speak of bone loss and kidney damage/failure and, as a somewhat fatalistic thinker, I've convinced myself that this 5-month course of Prilosec has caused me irreparable damage to my bones and kidneys.
Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar f tn I have a 3 year old dog that is believed to be having acid reflux. Her Vet did have her on Pepcid AC, but she was still having some issue's, so now she is on Prilosec. Here's the symptoms she was having: Acting like something was caught in her throat, gulping, licking her lips, burping, passing gas, not wanting to eat very much & then vomiting up yellow bile. (My dog is with me 24/7, & is NEVER out of my sight.

Avatar m tn Now I am worried and trying to understand if the Prilosec caused it. The blood pressure is also higher especially the systolic at 140 to 150. Is Prilosec known to have an effect directly on urine albumin or indirectly through blood pressure? I have read warnings about kidney disease being associated with the long term use of PPIs. I have to take Prilosec for another 3 weeks. Any insights or guidance will be appreciated.
Avatar m tn A rapid heart beat (tachycardia) is a side effect of Prilosec and not to be ignored. You should consult with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hi, I haven't been able to find anything on what I'm feeling. I was told I had Acid Reflux but looking at the symptoms, I don't feel like that is right. A few years ago I started to experience incredible stabbing-like pain in my stomach after I ate. I went to the Gastrologist and now I've been taking 20mg a day of Prilosec. When I would forget to take it, the pain would come back later that same day. Now, that pain has come back, even while taking Prilosec. No heartburn.
Avatar m tn Hello. Starting in March, I have discomfort on the right side of my neck. That has pretty much gone away. For over a week now, the front of my neck has a gnawing discomfort. I've had blood work and an ultrasound on my thyroid and both tests came back normal. Is this something that will go away on its own or should I pursue further tests?? Also, I have been taking prilosec for over a week every day to see if acid reflux is the culprit.
Avatar m tn Went to doctor 3 weeks ago to address a lingering discomfort that presented as a tickle, itch, all the way up to a stabbing pain that would come and go in a split second. Had had discomfort in that area before, always attributed it to gas or some other digestive issue. Had a weekend of multiple events with greasy/sugary/acidy food. Woke that monday feeling really horrid, generalized sick feeling. Next day awoke with back pain, which was much more pronounced on the right side.
Avatar f tn So I called my doctor over a weird feeling in my actual stomach area upper left side under breast. He is going to see me in a week but asked me to start taking prilosec until then. I dont really have heart burn.
Avatar f tn I had a severe bout of asthmatic bronchitis back in the fall that lasted 2 months. Ever since then I have had this pressure in the pit of my stomach right below my breastbone. It feels like someone has their fist in the pit of my stomach and are pushing in. Also, at times when I press on the area it is painul to touch. I have had an abdominal ultrasound, a pelvic mri, and ekg, and and echo. All have come back normal. My md suggested Prilosec.
Avatar n tn I have had this feeling of a golf ball in my throat for years now and it feels like I am constantly swallowing mucus. The ENT doctor said I had reflux and percribed me Prilosec 20mg twice a day. I didn't feel like It was helping so I stopped it. Saturday night I was drinking beer and all of a sudden I couldn't drink anymore. My throat felt like someone was holding a match up to it. Keep in mind this is all at the base of my esophogus not my upper throat.
Avatar m tn Ok well back in July of 08 I had a swollen tonsil, I was put on antibiotics for a month! Then I was told to start taking prilosec otc. While on prilosec i started getting some of the rare side effects such as kidney and testicular pain. So i stopped using prilosec. Then I started noticing I had some abdominal pain I would say my intestine area. A mild burning that would come and go. I also had some burning in my stomach aswell.
603576 tn?1219955064 The doc suspected it was the tylenol in the norco that made me ill. i got upset stopach, so I took 2 mg of kilonipin, and it calmed a bit. there are medicine patches like duragesic. Does these things help people from getting sick? If I have totally ruined my body and can no longer take meds it is totally the perfect ending to it all. How pathetic.
574266 tn?1218512994 Prilosec amy help in the short haul. But for the long run, you want to find out why you are having heartburn. Constant use of Tums or acid blockers makes your digestive system suffer. It lowers the intrensic factor which makes it almost impossible to process the B vitamins among other things that need acid to break things down.
Avatar n tn The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
1943416 tn?1324166761 belching, bloating, heartburn, sensitivity at the waist, intestinal gas, hiccups, difficulty in swallowing capsules, overall fatigue, full feeling at base of throat, pain or burning in upper chest, pressure in the chest, pain in the left side of chest. So I read on-line about hiatal hernia and I tried the self-massage technique described here and felt immediately better. I had to do it more than once over a period of time and I had a masseuse do it to me 3 times in 3 months.
Avatar m tn After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?
1806721 tn?1554333407 I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past. I'm also horrified by the idea of combined antibiotics for extended time. I can barely tolerate a single antibiotic agent for 5d in the past. How much probiotics should I take to counteract the side effects of antibiotics? Thank you!
390388 tn?1279636213 1. It sounds like Caesar experienced some "dietary indiscretion", but now things have somewhat normalized thanks to some medication prescribed by your veterinarian and a consistent diet. It is probably very important not to offer him anymore bones or human food in the future. One of the most beneficial treats you could give him is a prescription rawhide chew that is treated with an enzyme that helps maintain dental hygiene.
Avatar f tn When Armour was available again, I switched back and my acid reflux was gone in 3 days, as I remember, as a result of the T3 in the med. I was confident that my acid reflux was gone, so I eliminated one of the Prilosec, with no problem. I then stopped altogether and still was doing okay until my doctor insisted that I at least stay on one Prilosec, due to concerns about the Barrett's. So all that made me wonder what your thyroid related test results look like.
Avatar f tn Dont let your dogs be too close to the baby and dont leave your dogs alone with your baby. Get your dogs in a good consistent routine of feeding, exercising, and down time. That will help them adjust to when your baby is here and you wont have all time to focus on them.
215816 tn?1212490407 Also dogs eating a raw diet can shed these bacteria in their scales which can affect humans. As a vet tech whenever a dog on raw diet comes in we ALWAYS suit up with protection. When I was pregnant my ob-gyn advised me to steer clear of raw diet dogs because humans with weakened immune systems like pregnant women, children or anyone with autoimmune issues can easily contract harmful bacteria from their shedding. Be careful!
