Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec hair loss

prilosec

Avatar f tn The three most important causes of extreme fatigue with hair loss are anemia, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. Get your PCP to run tests for these. Another thing is to rule out H pylori infection of the gut. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn He wants to put me on 6 M-P but I am concerned about a weakened immune system. weight loss/gain, hair loss, and any other side effect. Do you or anyone you know take this medicine and what has it done for them? Any advice or personal stories would help!

Avatar f tn I am concerned about calcium absorption and bone loss and would like to wean from it. Is bone loss a legitimate concern? My last bone density showed osteopenia. This discussion is related to Weaning Off Prilosec.

Avatar f tn I was also told to take the Synthroid in the am and Prilosec in pm. I had not considered Prilosec as a possible reason, but I had noticed that my temp. had gone down and I felt the need for more thyroid. When I understood the need to check free T3 and the doctor checked it, I found that I was not converting T4 to T3 very well. So starting 4 days ago, I was switched to a T4/T3 type of med.---Armour thyroid. I felt better after the very first day and now I feel great.
1658980 tn?1330711550 Hey Debra, excellent attitude and thank you for posting your thoughts on hair loss. I have yet to treat sometime end of the month and yesterday I went ahead and had my hair cut very short above the ears a boy cut. Hair will grow back. Better to get rid of the disease! Bet the wigs are great, plan on getting one as well.
231441 tn?1333892766 My doctor told me I could take Zantac or Prilosec. It helps, but I dont' take it on a regular basis, only when I know I am going to need to eat something and the acid is really bad. I don't like to take medications unless necessary, but sometimes the acidity is so bad I can't eat (which isn't good either). Yogurt helps a lot also. Usually in the middle of the night if I wake up with bad acidity then I eat some yogurt and it soothes my throat a little.
6396087 tn?1399167632 Its annoying... A lot of people say that it means that the baby has a lot of hair and others say it's from the diet, but my sister experienced a lot of heartburn and my niece is extremely hairy. You can see the hair on her arms legs and back. I didn't get much heartburn with my daughter and she wasn't hairy.
Avatar f tn I've had it bad almost my whole pregnancy. I'm now 33 weeks and if I don't take over the counter Prilosec Id probably die!!
Avatar f tn I have heard the saying that heartburn means your baby will have a lot of hair
1087320 tn?1257895425 Most doctors will suggest antidepressants(ADs) and will start you on them before you begin treatment for the HCV. I did not take ADs, but had ativan for anxiety. I don't know of any med that will prevent the hair loss, but not everybody loses hair and it does grow back. As far as myalgia, don't worry unless/until it happens and then your doctor will have to find a liver-friendly pain med.
979080 tn?1323433639 Prilosec can cause fatal liver rot (necrosis), fatal pancreatitis, headache, back pain, hair loss, toxic epidermal necrolysis (a condition where your skin becomes red and scaly, then finally, painfully oozes and peels off), or it can stop the production of blood cells. Like Tagamet, Prilosec can severely distort or compromise the detoxification of other drugs. http://ezinearticles.com/?
709686 tn?1277432159 Protonix (Pantoprozole) does not give me problems...maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
Avatar f tn I have burning in my esophagus, pain under my sternum, sore gums, very sensitive teeth, neck and chest are always bright red and hot. My hair is thinning and my skin is sensitive. I also have pain in my abdomen, usually on the left side. I've had CT scans, ultrasounds, MRIs, upper endoscopy, stress test and have found nothing. I've been on 40 mg of Prilosec for three months and it made me feel a little better but not great.
Avatar f tn Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

Avatar n tn I lost a ton my first pregnancy. I was taking OTC prenatals. This time around my doc recommended prescription prenatals and I haven't had any hair loss or breakage this time. And bonus, the prescription prenatals are free with Affordable Healthcare Act!
Avatar f tn Especially after combing my hair, there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.
Avatar f tn It makes me depress everytime i see how plenty of hair i loss. I tried every hair fall shampoo but none of those worked. I don't wanna comb my hair anymore.
