ve seen comments with all kinds of opinions comparing the effectiveness of different forms of Prilosec (generic name omeprazole). But that are usually prescription brand-vs-generic, or OTC (non-prescription) brand-vs-generic. What I am looking for is real-life experiences from people who have moved from PRILOSEC OTC to GENERIC RX OMEPRAZOLE, or vice versa.
I've been taking PRILOSEC OTC (non-prescription) for quite awhile, after years on the original prescription brand Prilosec.
Until two days ago, I had been taking Prilosec OTC, 40 mgs. daily. I'm now taking the generic Omeprazole capsules, prescription. I switched to the generic version because it's covered by my insurance and it's a lot cheaper. I was told both meds were the same. However, after taking the generic Omep. capsules, I got bad side effects. I've never had any side effects from the Prilosec OTC. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a significant difference in the two.
After having a throat infection for 13 years (Lingual Tonsillitis which has irritated the hyoid bone), I found an ENT who diagnosed me and put me on a few medications to bring down the inflammation. I was put on Prednisone for 14 days, Augmentin and generic Prilosec/omeprazole 20mg. As of a week ago wed the inflammation was down 75% and I was feeling much better after being sick for so long.
Personally, I like Nexium. I think it is a better drug. I have a drug plan and I have to take Prilosec. I can't even get the trade name, I have to take the generic. I took Nexium for a few years and I do think it worked better for me.

I'm taking omeprazole(prilosec) and have been since I was about 16weeks I couldn't eat or drink even water it was so bad I didn't wanna take any medicine either but it was so bad and the Dr assured me it was safe.
bactrim is a good antibiotic for uti and has a generic on the 4 dollar list at walmart im going through a uti right now it does need treatment id get to a doc as soon as i could if i were her i also have irraitation during sex down there but im starting to get a little better since i got my antibiotics also but AZO over the counter at walmart its for uti symptoms and i got the generic bactrim 4 dollars at walmart pharmacy were i also work
Losec or OMEPRAZOLE is what I am taking now and yes it works fine.I was told by the pharmasist thst it is a generic of prilosec.
Ask ur dr on the dosage u need....the instructions on the box r to take for a period of time and stop.....but ur dr may tell u something different.If I stop for one day I can tell, so do ask ur dr what meds r right for u and what dosage to take and how.
The best medicines I have been prescribed are Nexium and Protonix. Protonix has a generic available so is inexpensive and works perfectly for me. Studies have shown Nexium to be consistently the most effective but it is more expensive and not always covered by every health insurance plan. United Healthcare for example does not cover Nexium.
I bought the prenatal vitamin from Walmart. I also took and extra Folic Acid pill through the 1st triimester.
If you are past 12 weeks you can take Prilosec. I had horrible heartburn. After taking it for two days I had relief. You can take it up to 14 days at a time. I only needed it for 4 now I am fine and don't need it. FYI I am 37 weeks..heartburn picks up toward the end.
You can get a round of episodic therapy for $4 at walmart and similar type stores if you have a prescription from your provider. I think suppressive therapy is $10-14/month there.
Perhaps your son has allergies to foods with acids? Both orange juice and spicy foods have lots of acid content. You could trial him out on the over the counter Zantac, which is an H2 blocker, and will help with allergic reactions as well as indigestion. Or his own production of gastric acids are in excess and with the added acids in those foods, it leads to sweats, like when people eat hot chilli or hot wings.
These are two seperate medications. Call your doctor and explain that you can no longer afford the Cymbalta and he/she can prescribe a generic which will work just as well. I've been on a generic for several years with excellent results! Take care.
It is a different manufacturer than the generic I have been taking for about 3 years from Walmart. Since I have been taking the generic from CVS I have been extremely tired in the afternoons and now I don't feel well every afternoon like clockwork. I only take 15 milligrams of a 20 milligram pill and have been cutting it down for 2 years to only 15.Is this happening because the depression is coming on and the paxil is pooping out.?
