Avatar f tn For the last few months ive had pain in my left side under the ribs that radiates to the right side. Very tnder to touch, pain also radiates through my back Just got diagnosed with IBS. The pain is constant and always tender anyone else have this? Would love some feedback. I also just started taking Bentyl 10mg dont know if its working yet only had 2 doses so far. 454221 tn?1259445739 My understanding is that Prilosec had not been assigned a category for pregnancy by the FDA because its effects during pregnancy are unknown. Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.
Avatar f tn I see you are also on prilosec ( presuming it's the same as losec ) and are suffering from constipation and gas issues. Does this make you abdomin area feel heavy, tense or slightly bloated as well. As in my other post do you think it vould be a side effect from the losec? Another thing that I have learnt is that decaf coffee is also very acidic. You might have to go to a herbal tea that is completely caffiene and acid free instead. But not peppermint apparently.
Avatar m tn I have taken Prilosec for indigestion and IBS for the last year, it helps, but seems to wear off before I am suppose to take it again. I use to get pains in my upper chest after eating and a friend in med school told me I may have an acid problem where it leaks into my lungs and burns them. I cant recall the name of the condition, but the Prilosec seemed to stave off the pain, I started using the Prilosec shortly after she told me.
Avatar n tn I posted in Oct 2012 - below is updated case w/questions: I started having URQ pain 5 months ago-a cramp/dull ache under right ribs. The pain comes and goes-here for a day, gone for several, here for a day. On a scale of 1-10, pain's been between 1-4. Pain sometimes feels like it's wrapping around my right back a little, but I also have a back injury. Occasional pain to the right of my belly button and rarely a pinching in ULQ under ribs. Pain seems unrelated to eating.
Avatar n tn I have Gerd, and IBS.. have had it for years and years. Most of the time, the prilosec manages the Acid reflux. My IBS acts up often but if I watch what I eat, its manageable. The past few months off and on, I get a rumbly stomach, and very gassy at times. But what concerns me is the off and on pain on the upper right side and left side too.. almost under my breastbone, but seems to be upper stomach? Its sharp but doesn't stay all day... off and on...
Avatar n tn Hi! I hope I am understanding your question properly. We commonly refer to your complaints as "heartburn" or GERD which stands for GI Reflux Disease It is common during pregnancy and can be treated with TUMS or other antacid products. If it is severe, I will often treat my patients with Prilosec or Prevacid for an interval to get symptoms under control. Two tips--don't eat large meals, and don't lie down for at least an hour after eating! Good luck!
Avatar f tn Tried some miralax but no success. Is the Prilosec making me constipated? Should I try something else for acid? What is causing this? Never had a problem with stomach acid before..but am nauseous all day & night. Tried yogurt to restore natural bacteria. I am afraid to keep taking and afraid to stop taking. I just had my period so not pregnant. Help!
Avatar f tn ,Also last year I was treated for silent reflux with prilosec over a four month period (no heart skips) and I started taking prilosec again two weeks ago thinking it might be digestive? Should have taken effect by now though. My yearly cardio checkup isn't scheduled until February next year. Any thoughts?
467797 tn?1216211257 I have Ulcerative colitis (for 21 years) acid reflux, Diverticular disease and IBS. I've been on Remicade for 1 1/2 years and Colazal for 6 years to control my UC and Prilosec for my acid reflux. In the past I would have sporadic bouts of acidic yellow/green diarrhea but it never last long nor did I have any unusual symptoms associated with it. I've mentioned it to my GI but he never said much about it.
Avatar f tn Last summer I developed s dry cough and shortness of breath. In November Doc put me on 40 mg Prilosec one daily and it causes me to feel terrible, anxious etc. we changed to 20mg 2x daily and Zantac 150 1x daily and the cough resolves within a week but I had globus, phlegm, sore throat...typical LPR symptoms. GI doc did an upper endoscopy in January that looked pretty normal with the exception of candida on the 6 areas she biopsies.
Avatar f tn I am a 28 year old female with a history of GERD and IBS. Prilosec OTC usually works for me, however it is not covered by my insurance. The only thing covered by my insurance is Ranitidine - which I take twice a day. About 2 years ago, I had to see the doctor because of dysphagia, constant post nasal drip / clearing my throat, etc. She said that I had aspirated some stomach acid and it had burned my throat.
Avatar n tn What have you been eating lately? What is your ethnic background? I have IBS and for the first 26 years of my life the diarrhea was mostly stress related. However, I am lactose intolerant (as it turns out, not that any of the Doctors I saw at the time ever tested me for it), and that defiitely didn't help.
Avatar n tn pylori may return, so if you have upper abdominal bloating, burping and heartburn, you may now have BREATH TEST (not blood test, which also shows previous infections) for H. pylori. If positive, you will get another course of antibiotics, and then Prilosec or related drug to block acid secretion.
Avatar m tn Primarily with my stomach for about two years now. I have seen a number of doctors for my concerns and they simply have no answers for me except IBS. I beleive I dony have IBS. My symptoms are Immediate pain some time sharp and sometimes dull when I eat pretty much anything just below the rib cage dirrectly in the middle where I beleive the esophigus dumps into the stomach.
Avatar m tn I was just hoping to get some advice or anything anyone can offer me tips on for anyone who has IBS or went through something like this. Like what I can do to help relieve the pressure or the bloating. Those are the 2 symptoms that are most debilitating throughout the day for me. Sorry for the winded post. Any tips would be appreciated!!
Avatar n tn Please do colonoscopy and endoscopy to rule out the sickness your family members had in past. It proven as fact that some illness get transferred genetically but might not effect first/second generation and symptoms might only be seen in third or fourth all other way around. Colonoscopy will rule out worms, parasites and other bacterias.Endoscopy will rule out obstructions, gallbladder problems, reflux disease.
Avatar f tn m also on Prilosec. I get nausea at times I have zofran for it and it rally helps!!! Take care and good luck.
2104269 tn?1333742668 (I had my Gallbladder removed 2 years ago) When i told my GI of my concern, he said that he sees nothing alarming with those symptoms and that it is probably just my IBS worsening. I have had IBS a long time and have never had these symptoms. He said i may have cought an infection that worsened the IBS as a result. Sigh, No definitive answers. I have no idea if my sickness has anything to do with my worsened stomach problems. The cough really concerns me.
Avatar n tn I am taking prilosec for my Gerd.. And dicylomine for my spasms.. also meds for other health issues as my anxiety.. so sick of all these meds.. I know we need them, but I wonder if it adds to other side affects as my constipation..! I find that it depends on the day with the eating thing, sometimes one day it may hurt me and the next time it doesn't... thats why I know when I am having a severe anxiety day, my stomach acts up and then anything I eat that day hurts!!
