Avatar m tn Yes H-Pylori can cause bad chest pain, the pain is coming from the esophigus, which is just to the left of the center of your chest, if you are certain you have H-Pylori, the pain is caused by excess stomach acid, you need to get treated as H-Pylori is a nasty bacteria, it lays dorment in most people and is held in check by your stomachs good bacteria, although when you take an Anti-biotic treatment for an infection, it kills off the good bacteria and H-Pylori takes over and if left untrated fo
Avatar f tn I still have had heartburn and indigestion for years after h pylori treatment. My dr declined to retest me. So I have a new dr now and she said h pylori has become increasingly resistant to antibiotics and this is consistent with my research. I would strongly suggest you try mastic gum extract along with lifestyle and dietary changes. Also, taking a substantial dosage of hcl betaine before high protein meals helps a lot.
Avatar n tn There are some fairly simple tests to check for h pylori. I would ask for one if the Doctor is receptive.
Avatar n tn Due to this increased weight loss and our primary doc doing no testing whatsoever, had a cardiologist I work for look at him, he diagnosed with H pylori and prescribed 2 week triple pack. Also ordered CT chest which showed diffuse emphysematous changes and localized area of parenchymal opacity suggestive of a region of prior infection with scarring and calcification. Superimposing mild ground glass density in this area also raises possibility of a superimposing acue process.
1453826 tn?1285180618 i was digonsed with H. pylori almost a year ago and i still have the nausea , heart burn, and poor appitate. dose this ever get better, or is it something i have to deal with for the rest of my life? i was given treat ment of 8 pills a day for 7 days when i was dignosed. but nothing seems to be getting better.
Avatar m tn I was tested for common food allergens and for h pylori. The h pylori came back equivocal, so my doctor suggested that I just take Prilosec and see if that help the stomach irritation and excessive belching I was having. I was feeling a lot better until about day 10 of Priolsec when I drank some liquor. After I ended the Prilosec 14 days, my stomach issues and belching came right back. My doctor suggested I take a few more days of Prilosec and avoid alcohol for a while.
1387175 tn?1326400997 last time i had h pylori was 2009 now worrying that i might have a it again i dont want to take metronidazole again do you think i have h pylori i been on prilosec for 12 years
963268 tn?1312900315 My doctors office said my results were negative. (I guess for H Pylori). That is fine, but then why do I have gastritis? I am just frustrated that there is no answer! Does anyone have bouts of gastritis with no known reason? Thanks!
Avatar n tn pylori may return, so if you have upper abdominal bloating, burping and heartburn, you may now have BREATH TEST (not blood test, which also shows previous infections) for H. pylori. If positive, you will get another course of antibiotics, and then Prilosec or related drug to block acid secretion.
Avatar m tn Hey I just wanted to say that I've been in a similar hell for the last 2 years and from all the research i've done I gotta say that I have a very strong impression that there are many people out there who test negative for h pylori that are still positive. Have you ever had any ulcers? You're symptoms sound like h pylori or possibly some sort of parasite infection of the intestines.
Avatar m tn H. Pylori associated moderate chronic gastritis with some signs of intestinal metaplasia. Right now I'm taking the Prevpac (triple therapy) for the bacterium. Will this type of gastritis eventually resolve itself when the bacterium is removed? Also, the general surgeon wants to put me on a PPI (prilosec) for a few months to help my stomach heal. I hate the idea of being on a acid eliminator. Is this good advice?
Avatar n tn If you have been treated in the past for H. pylori and it was treated, this could be an incorrect result - if it was an antibody test. A more accurate test is the 'breath test.' If you want to know if you currently are harboring the bacterium then ask to have the breath test. H. pylori can reside in some people without showing a lot of gastric problems until a long time afterward. A delay in treatment wouldn't hurt things at all.
Avatar m tn When my first endoscopy is done, H Pylori found. Though, I took the 2 weeks treatment for H Pylori, will there be any possibility of the H Pylori not being eradicated? Once again, thank you so much for your help here.
Avatar f tn Relax. H pylori can definitely cause those symptoms. Just give some time for the tissue to heal and you should notice a huge improvement. You had an abdominal CTscan, do that should rule out ant chance of stomach cancer. I know when we are sick, our minds can get the best of us!! Keep doing what your doing and let time and the Prevpak heal ! Feel better !
Avatar f tn Blood tests for H Pylori will be positive in blood for a long time after treatment, but the stool test for H Pylori should be negative after adequate treatment.
Avatar f tn I have h pylori too and an ulcer going in for an endoscope next week . the 2 week regimen is awful and I couldn't do it cause I have a 9 month old consists of 2 antibiotics either amoxicillin and erythromycin or tetracycline and flagyl .. and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment .
Avatar n tn Pylori(I am now negative for H. Pylori). Also, I have not had heartburn for over two months. I have suffered from Hypersalivation for about three months. I went to a ENT today and he did a VideoStroboscope on my throat. He feels my saliva is rather bubbly and the cause is possibly related to acid reflux. He recommended I go back on Aciphex or another PPI and to take Benadryl. This seems to make sense.
Avatar f tn So this is day nine on the prilosec and day seven on the antibiotics (Ammoxicillin and clarithromycin)for the H pylori. My symptoms are still there SOMETIMES after eating. For the most part it has been a bland diet, except for the exception of a hamburger yesterday which caused extreme discomfort. Could this be a side effect of the medicine or my stomach trying to heal still? Please let me know if I should tough it out with the antibiotics or could this be something else?
Avatar n tn The blood work all came back fine except tested positive for the H. Plyori infection, however i tested negative during the endoscopy. But i was still taking the priolsec before the endoscopy. What could be wrong with me. Can i still have the infection? During the endoscopy they found mild Gastritis. Doctors suggest i stay on Prilosec for another month (i dont think it helps, it does but doesn't) i go back in february some time.
Avatar m tn It sounds like Helicobacter Pylori, or H-Pylori. Ask your doctor! Today, the standard triple therapy is amoxicillin, clarithromycin and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole. At times, probiotics have been used. A patient with gastritis, or peptic/duodenal ulcers may also have the presence of H-pylori. You can read about it here (copy and paste the URL into your web browser.): http://h-p-bacteria.blogspot.com/ Good luck! And let me know how you are doing!
Avatar n tn The best way to start that is via an endoscopy and blood test to check for H. pylori. Find out exactly what the lining of your esophagus, stomach and duodenum looks like and talk with a good GI person about what's next. You also want to find out the status of the hernia. I hope you're also following a GERD diet.
Avatar n tn it is h pylori...a little "bug" that burrows its way into the lining of your stomach making you sick..did they give you antibiotics for it? i was dx with it in jan. 2009 and did 2 weeks of prevpac, and am currently waiting for EGD to be done next wed. to check for inflammation and a biopsy if its still there..
Avatar f tn ve lost 8 pounds in a week due to nausea. I was tested for H. pylori(negative), lipase and cbc both normal. As a precaustion my doctor gave me a 10 day round of meds for systemic yeast. I also had a cat scan and that was normal. I went to an allergist who is having me tested for food allergies and suggested I take h1 as well as h2 antihistamines. He suggested I might have Eosinophilic Esophagitis which is an inflamed esophagus due to an allergic reaction.
Avatar n tn I have used baclofen and trazodone. I prefer the baclofen, but I am still bothered by the side effects (headache, drowsiness). My spasms are triggered by GERD. Getting the GERD under control will be the answer to my spasms so I have an appt. with a surgeon on Tues. about Nissen Fundoplication. My diagnosis was confirmed after an endoscopy with biopsies for H. pylori, 48 hr. pH bravo, and manometry.
Avatar n tn He may want to have a test for H. pylori, which is a common cause of gastritis.
Avatar f tn hello- I hope it's ok for us to answer too?
