prilosec constipation

I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.

ve been taking Exforge 10mg for high blood pressure for 4 years and have not had a problem with constipation. The constipation and soft stools started before the Ulcer diagnoses and Prilosec. I recently had a CT scan and was told I have spots on my liver. I'm wondering if this could be a cause.

maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?

and nausea for 3 weeks now. Started on Prilosec thinking it was acid reflux (agreed with by my MD)..but it made me constipated and my lower abdomen distended. So I stopped after 3 days...then spent a day with nausea & vomiting as well as bowel movements followed by diarrhea. I have been suffering from gas (burping) and constipation for two days now and today it got so bad I was puking up bile trying to burp, I barely ate last night, just four pieces of chicken wings and see drank tea for breakfast before I ended up over the toilet..what is safe to take at this point in pregnancy?

I have Ulcerative colitis (for 21 years) acid reflux, Diverticular disease and IBS. I've been on Remicade for 1 1/2 years and Colazal for 6 years to control my UC and Prilosec for my acid reflux. In the past I would have sporadic bouts of acidic yellow/green diarrhea but it never last long nor did I have any unusual symptoms associated with it. I've mentioned it to my GI but he never said much about it.

I have only been on it for a little over a month. It seems to be causing sever constipation and my GI doctor said I really don't need to be on it after an endoscope. I was going to switch to an H2 blocker and if absolutely need be Prilosec as I have not had that side effect with this drug. Anyone know if I can just stop or should I be opening the capsule and removing some granules and such?

I mainly have the constipation now...as i eat more fiber. I am taking prilosec, temazepam for sleep if needed, and belladona-phenobarbit, for gas amd cramping, which i am affraid to take. So i don't take it unless really needed. I get alot of acid buildup but am trying to drink decaf coffee only. I have had slip ups. I try to take a tylenol for sleep and my klonopin at night. .1mg at night of klonopin and .5 in am's. I was asked to ask you your input in these medicines.

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

Commonly with MS the issue is the opposite of your problem - constipation. It soujnds contrary, but constipation can lead to faecal incontinence. Any constipation at all ever? Any of the reasons you have been given could be behind it. Faecal incontinance would imply MS since the usual signals might not be getting to your brain, but it doesn't rule out your meds or IBS. Probiotics were a good idea, and I would continue them if I were you.

You can take Prilosec for the heartburn, Tylenol for the back pain, and increase your fiber intake for the constipation. Always ask your dr first tho but mine told me all of that to take so figured I would share that with you. Good luck.

I was ok for a month or so and then I developed constipation. So I was switching from diarrea to constipation on and off. The burping continue and it seems to happend before I get my period. Is 5:41 am and I got up because of gas in my stomach and diarrea. I haven't being able to have a deasent night of sleep for the past 4 days. That happens every month. Ours went up to. I don't remember what it was but our share is like 70%. Prilosec OTC is now covered 100%. We have switched to that for me and Gary Will and it seems to be working. When he was a baby he had side affects with Prilosec so we stopped it but he doesn't appear to have them now.

I went back to my doctor and he told me that I could have an ulcer, so he gave me some prilosec that I am about to take for the first time on monday, I am waiting because I just started some other medication a couple of days ago and I do not want to overload my body. That worked for a week, felt fine, but then the pain started to come back. my 14 year old nephew keeps getting stomach pains docs have done blood tests, scans, endoscopy, colonoscopy, has been checked for gall bladder chrones dx gerd my sister was told all negative all that was found is an unexplained tear in the abdominal wall which should heal with prilosec , no luck.. still has pain he describes the pain on the right side flank pain. he has had rapid weight loss constipation.

I was diagnosed with a pepcid ulcer and reflux a little over a week ago and was put on a once-daily dose of 40mg Protonix. Ever since then I have been experiencing uncomfortable constipation with full relief coming only once. As you can imagine, it's not only uncomfortable but embarrassing to be bloated and gassy almost every day. How long should I be on the Protonix, and should I be taking anything else to help ease the constipation?

hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.

The medications I've been prescribed have varied from amoxicillin to Prilosec and dicyclomine. I don't believe any of these have worked but what I have done is tried to eat healthier. Typically at night when I try to sleep my symptoms become worse, also after eating I no longer immediately lay down. My bowel habits have also changed but I still use the bathroom everyday without problems.

I have finally found relief for the constipation that goes with this. I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc. Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that. I feel like I have morning sickness all the time!

He referred me to a specialist. The specialist ordered a endoscopy ( esophagus , upper stomach, etc. ) , an ultrasound of the gallbladder and a xray of the abdomian. I've also had blood tests. My scope came out to be that I was inflamed, and she thought I had a bacteria ( h. Pyroli.) Which came to negative.
