Prilosec and vitamin d

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec and vitamin d

prilosec

Avatar f tn Hi...yes this is a concern, and u should talk to ur Dr about taking Vit D w/calcium to help u....and ne other vitamins and minerals u may be lacking....the other issue is taking PPI's like Prilosec can cause ur body to not absorb the vitamins and minerals it needs be it naturally or from supplements. Ur Dr should also help u step off the meds...u need to do this slowly...and make sure u r following a diet that will not trigger the symptoms.
Avatar n tn My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
Avatar f tn ve had 3 docs prescribe prevacid and prilosec and one who said its bad to have any. I miscarried when I wasnt on anything and the babies I've had are all fine despite the prilosec. Some docs are more cautious. My doc now is a high risk ob/gyn with experience in fetal development issues and he says its fine. Talk to your doc or a different one...its not good to be so miserable you can't eat...for you or baby.
Avatar f tn Wow, glad you mentioned the vitamin D. She has had low vit D levels for some time now and is supposed to be taking supplements. I am surprised her doctor didn't mention this to me. She's very involved in school but she claims that stress is not a problem - I have asked her if maybe nerves could be causing it. I think I will try the prilosec for another week and if she is still symptomatic I will make an appointment with the GI guy.
Avatar f tn I was on Prilosec for 9 months (I have been off for 7 days) and I am not planning on taking Prilosec again. I do not have heart burn and it was prescribed by my idiot doc and I followed her advice without question. Getting a new doc. The tablet that I take has 1000 Mcg of B12 (cyanocobalamin) and 400 mcg of Folic Acid. I could not get the Methly kind of B12. I have been taking the tablet for 7 days. I feel great!
Avatar m tn I then went online and did some research and thought maybe something is wrong with my hormones so I went to an endocronologist who did some blood tests and found that I had extremely low vitamin D, but nothing else wrong, so she prescribed some strong vitamin D pills for me. I have still been getting the same symptoms and no one can figure out what exactly is wrong with me. I know that something is wrong with my because I have been suffering with these symptoms for 15 years now.
Avatar f tn m Lori and I think we are in the same boat. My vitamin D is 15 and I too am on Synthroid and Cytomel (just started the latter about a week) ago). I started on 50,000 vitamin D per week for two months. In doing my ususal self help internet research, I found the link below interesting. In the video the Dr says anyone in the northeast; that's both of us, is not getting any natural Vitamin D during the winter months.
Avatar f tn Subclinical hypothyroidism, Hashimoto. I had a complete thyroid panel done about a month ago I have a very deficient B12; vitamin D deficient. I read a number of things about prolonged use of PPIs and the lack of stomach acid, leading to an inability for your system to convert the vitamins into something that your body can use. I am getting worse, with regards to symptoms from these deficiencies, such as the inability to sleep, horrible skin problems etc.
19024797 tn?1471291132 m taking 6,000 IU of Vitamin D daily and have read many articles on how Magnesium and Vitamin K all work together in the process of absorbing Vitamin D and visa vera...but when my doctor but me on Vitamin D he didn't mention supplementing with Magnesium or Vitamin K. Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
1166456 tn?1417305537 I also have pain on my forhead where my headline is my bones are soft to the touch ( not that I should even be pressing on them lol )....I have vitamin D and vitamin b12 deficiency. My question is even if it is rare is there a disease or disorder that would cause the bones or skull to change or sounds ridiculous but divide without injury? I have no clue why I am in so much pain. I have seen a rhuemetologist which did not find anything either. Wouldnt MRIS show these types of things...
Avatar m tn Could be low in Vitamin D and magnesium.
Avatar m tn s has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?
Avatar m tn I had some symptoms in common with you and recently found out that I have Anemia and severe Vitamin D deficiency. Anemia is tested by checking Ferritin levels which is the only iron test that can verify iron deficiency anemia because Hemoglobin and Hematocrit can be perfectly normal, and it is considered the most severe form of anemia.
Avatar f tn For almost 2 years, I have been, and continue to be, treated for Fibro, Osteoarthritis, Senile Osteoporosis (daily injection of Forteo), high blood pressure and low/none vitamin D, and periods of low white cells. Was checked for the usual, RA, Lupus etc. Nothing showed up. Previous health-worked fulltime around 50 hours a week or more, constantly going and doing, did many family dinners, active runner, won divisional 5k first place and masters and weight trained. BMI is around 20.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the the relationship between Vitamin D and MS and if you take supplements, will it help prevent relapses? I was just reading something about this from a report from the UK--and their research suggests that it does seem to help. I also wonder if you can give vitamin supplements to children/teens and if that will help to prevent the disease later in life.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I've been tested and have come up with a deficiancy of Vitamin D was told that Vitamin D is like the mortar between the bricks of your colon wall, if you have a deficiancy then the toxins can easily slip through the gaps out your colon and into your blood stream. First stop your liver, then onto your heart and mind. Once your liver starts to drop then it's harder for you to metabolise other vitamins also only making things worse.
Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
Avatar f tn In the report issued today, the committee reviewed studies on the metabolism and physiology of calcium and vitamin D and their influence on health. Dietary reference intakes were determined using the estimated average requirement (EAR; the level at which 50% of the population's needs are met), recommended dietary allowance (level at which 95% of the population's needs are met), tolerable upper intake level, and adequate intake level.
Avatar f tn Have your Vitamin D checked. I also heard that tanning beds do not give you the Vitamin D so not sure about a sunlamp. Coral Calcium has Vitamin D3 so it's a good source as well as most fish, especially salmon. Vitamin D deficiencies can cause serious problems. Mine was just tested at 40 and it was 11.8, well below normal and it took months of arthritis pains, gout, paresthesias, four doctors, etc. for one doctor to say, "Haven't they ever tested your Vitamin D?
