prilosec and ulcer treatment

I had an ulcer about 2 years ago and was treated for it.. I took 2 types of antibiotics along with Prilosec. After this the gnawing pain that i felt below my ribcage was gone but i was left with constipation, bloating, gas, and just total stomach chaos. I have been trying to relieve these symptoms by using every single thing almost that is over the counter.Nothing seems to work.. I went to the doctor and discussed my symptoms and she simply advised me to change my diet..

I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer, based off of symptoms, about 8 months ago. I completed my antibiotics and have been taking Prilosec since. The pain is slightly better...less intense gnawing pain and my stomach is less tender to the touch. But I'm still having GERD symptoms - burning abdomen, stomach tender to the touch when poked, acid reflux, lump in throat, burning up back of throat, excessive belching and gas..

It appears that maybe the lack of nicotine has caused some change in your stomach. Ten years ago, I developed a second ulcer, and I have taken one OTC Prilosec a day for 10 years with no problem. Why not try an experiment and take one Prilosec or Prevacid a day for 4 days to learn whether your heartburn has stopped? The stronger pill, Nexium, has just become available OTC and may deserve your consideration.

The GERD is still present and so I have been taking Pepcid on and off, but now I have a dull ache right under my left breast in the area of what is possibly my stomach. I would like any info anyone can provide about symptoms of ulcers.

i am 6 months post treatment and still have gastrointestinal problems that i didn't have before the treatment. i.e. fat intolerance, diarrhea, gas. has anyone else experienced this so far post treatment? and what do you do? and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment . now I am on prilosec which doesn't make it worse it blocks the acid in your stomach which h pylori thrives in acidic environments ..

The constipation and soft stools started before the Ulcer diagnoses and Prilosec. I recently had a CT scan and was told I have spots on my liver. I'm wondering if this could be a cause.

I developed mouth ulcer 30 yeas ago. I had them everyday for years. Then had upper GI done. They found my sphincter doesn't close all the way. Treat was Prilosec (omeprisole) for 14 day and swish with Maalox to heal. That has work up until about a month or so ago. Now they are in my throat and the said treatment doesn't seem as affected. I view it as I caught a virus and is activate when you have a gastric episode. I had an EMT look at my throat. He said he saw healing and no concerns.

The ratio came out higher than normal at 32 after the first week of Prilosec. I repeated that test 3 weeks later and the ratio came out even higher at 74. Now I am worried and trying to understand if the Prilosec caused it. The blood pressure is also higher especially the systolic at 140 to 150.

went to the er they said i was positive for blood and did nothing about it.. All my x rays ,ct scans and ultrasounds and blood work came back fine... but the diarrhea hits me off and on now often and i see the blood more often now!!!!Any help what could this be???? I have a GI appt next week just want to ease my mind!!!!!

I had an EGD and colonoscopy and was told I had IBS with irritation and that it could affect not only the colon but all the way to the esophagus. I have excreted excessive acid in the past and thirty years ago had a peptic ulcer and bled twice. The terrible pain I have is in the same area of my duodenal ulcer. No matter the meds I am put on nothing helps. The episodes make no sense. One time related to a certain food but can eat that food again and be fine. I am so tired of this.

The emergency room doctor thought it was a mild case of pancreatitis but my family doctor believes it’s an ulcer. I’ve been taking 40 mg of Prilosec as well as sucralfate. I have been taking NSAIDS for close to ten years now , I have been to the ER 5 times this week I had 2 full blood work ups, 3 urine screens, a lower cat scan w/o contrast , an unoffical ultrasound the dr called it,and chest xray And they said other than my kidney function being a little low everything looked ok. If you've been on the nexium and you've changed your diet to a GERD-friendly one and the symptoms continue, have you been scoped yet? If not, it's time to ask your doc for more testing. Ask to be tested for H. pylori and have an upper endoscopy done to get an idea of what your esophagus, stomach and duodenum look like. All PPIs have side-effects that can be more serious than weight gain.

I am on my 6 th day of the prev Pac. I have gained most of my appetite back and the growling and gnawing is gone. I noticed a few months back that I was having pain in the center of my back and radiating to my upper shoulders mainly on the right side. To my surprise I was having this pain last evening before the heartburn started. I took a dose of mylanta and the pain went away. probably not an ulcer, id go with GERD or a Hiatal Hernia first, a peptic ulcer or deudenous ulcer would present with more pain and there would probably be blood in your vomit and stool, id go to the doc to get it checked out, id start taking Prilosec OTC for two weeks to see if its just reccuring GERD, i mean the symptoms you described sounds exactly like GERD
