prilosec and tums

t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. I have a doctors appt. on Thursday and hate waiting to know if prilosec is safe or not. I'm going to try and not take it till I see the doctor.

I have Zantac and it works great! Tums never worked for me, I dont like milk but tried that too and didnt work.

This is very strange and maybe just a fluke but tonight I took a Prilosec otc and within about an hour my IC symptoms had subsided and are still gone now 4 hrs later......could there really be a connection????

Now im wondering if 2 a day is ok? My oldest daughter has gerd. And she takes 4 prilosec daily. And i never had heart burn with her.

I take prilosec otc. Doc said it's ok and no amount of tums, milk, water anything else worked. Prilosec started working the next day!

I take zantac and tums but tums really doesn't seen to do anything for me .

So, tums wasn't working well for me and my doc said it was OK for me to take pepto. Now, I'm reading from some others that its not OK. I took it once yesterday. Has anyone else taken pepto ? I'm 27w and 4d.

Omg. It *****. I take tums and my doctor told me to do that and drink milk before bed. Also taking tums before or right after eating helping tremendously. :( sorry hope it gets better!

Tums works and Also a glass of milk.. If you don't like white milk yoohoo worked for me too.. Hope this helps.

I'm 32 weeks and have been having the worst acid reflux and heart burn. I told my Midwife and she said Prilosec I think or it could've been Pepcid. I forgot and am not sure which one. Does anyone know?

You can try OTC Zantac but that didn't do much for me either...I'm on Prilosec and it has taken away all of my heartburn...but it is a class C medication so you will need to talk to your doctor first...

I take prilosec. It's the ONLY thing that works for me. Tums is a temporary fix and milk is not good at all. Milk is actually acidic which makes it worse in the long run. But one prilosec daily I could eat whatever I wanted! It is pricey though but I promise its worth it! Tums is cheaper but there is a reason for that you know?

I take Prilosec my dr said its ok. I was chewing so many tums its like they were candy. Since starting Prilosec i haven't taken any tums.

Tums and a cold glass of milk or tablespoon of mustard

No, zantac 75 is the only heartburn medication on my safe list...that and tums!

Apple cider vinegar mixed with water and/or try chewing some gum. I've been taking tums, getting kind of sick of them and found these alternatives. They work and are safe.

You can actually buy it in store without prescription but its kinda pricey I think like 20 dollars or ask your doctor to write you a prescription for it and its usually cheaper..I have Medicaid and get prescriptions for free so my doctor wrote me one for zantac!

I have had killer acid reflux and burp several times a hour any advice on things that can help? I use tums but I feel like it's not enough! It is starting to interfere with my day to day life.

nexium and prilosec are both PPI's therefore they make less stomach acid causing slower digestion of food...causing slower metabolism...thus gaining weight i would reccommend maalox max or maybe TUMS but try full strength...if those dont work then stick to your meds...

Smoothies by tums are the only thing I tolerate. And lemonade. It's so strange. Lol but it works for me.

The doctor had mentioned Prilosec and another medication as being ok to take, but I forget the other one. Anyways, I went to the store to get the Prilosec and the only thing they have for Prilosec is a 14 day treatment which may not work for 1-4 days. I want something with immediate relief and wondered if the anyone took the other ones like Zantac or whatever else is out there. Tums does NOT work for me. Any input as to what your doctor said was ok, please let me know.
