Prilosec and thrush

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec and thrush

prilosec

I have been on Prevacid and Prilosec. I LOVE my Prilosec, it allows me to feel like a normal person. Without it I am in pain, not only in my chest, but in my arms, neck, face, and various weird places on my body.It took about 3 months before I had true relief and you MUST take your pill at the same time every day. You should never miss a dose because it will set you back to square one. I hope you find results!
What do you do about it, I can't take Prilosec anymore and radidatine doesn't work for this. I like the Spiriva but HATE the heartburn! ??????
It can help with both the yeast from the antibiotic and the thrush..... Yes, if u have thrush and saliva is passed from one person to another u can also pass the thrush. Did u let ur Dr know that u were no better after the antibiotic?...Call ur Dr...and if she will not help, an ENT may be the next place to go. Good luck "selma" PS- u may want to buy a new tooth brush too!
Thank you, I called her and she gave me 40mg prilosec as well as difucan for yeast.
I went to see two doctors and asked them if it was thrush and they said it wasn't. But, they did not tell me what it was but assured me that definitely it wasn't thrush. They diagnosed it as GERD/Acid Reflux. But I worry about the diagnosis because there wasn't any tests done (Barium swallow, etc...) They based it from my complaint of mild muscle pain sensation that I had been feeling on my chest and arms.
If you haven't already tried the following, several have suggested Prilosec, Nexium, Zofran, or eating ginger, crackers and ginger ale, etc. If the OTC's don't work, talk to your doctor. Be careful with some of the antacids such as Maalox, tums, etc. They cut down on the absorption of the Riba. I hope others that have experience major issues with nausea will cue in for additional suggestions. Good luck to you.
So I don't know if GERD is a cause here as the hernia is not hiatal but I do take two prilosec a day at different times and have for a while now because I used to get these strange stomach pains that would come in waves and pain in my chest which the doc called silent reflux.
I am having the most peculiar symptoms with no real answers. Out of the blue one morning I had a rash on my inner arms, and terribly itchy for that day. After showing that evening, it was all over my arms, but quickly faded and never has repeated this. My first thought was it was my Levoxyl, but I have been taking it for nearly 5 years (thyroidectomy for cancer), and taking that particular pill (88mcg) for over a year.
When you have your upper GI one of the things they will look for is a hiatal hernia - and that is a sign that you have LPR. The treatment includes things like Prilosec and/or Protonix, coupled with Zantac or the equivalent. The process involved higher doses of meds than regular reflux (GERD) and there is a surgical option if you aren't getting much better in a year or so. here's an article from Columbia University: www.entcolumbia.org/lprd.
Thank you so much for writing and going into detail. I appreciate it. It was rather alarming to hear about the possibility of congestive heart failure! Both my Mom and Aunt had it. I'll go over and check out the "Heart Failure Solutions" area, as you suggested. I'll try to follow as many suggestions as I can. Unfortunately, I have a completely destroyed knee (OA) and can't do running or vigorous walking and heavy exercise. I am drinking a lot of water now.
If it is thrush I didnt know it could fade away throught the day from brushing and eating and I heard it can be somewhat painful. Wasnt sure if that was always the case.
I picked up the bad habit of smoking cigars from a friend about 7 1/2 years ago. About 5 years ago, I started getting a tongue that felt a little swollen and scorched on the tip. I went to the doctor and they said it probably is Thrush. I've taken Bifidobacteria & Lactobacilli from the Health food store and that helped. I was smoking 1 cigar a day. I would stop for a week when the thrush became noticable again, then start up on smoking a cigar a day again.
This rash appeared in 2008 after the incident, maybe months later and again last year in 2010. It was dry pale and scaly and appeared mostly on upper arms, torso and upper legs. It did not itch. It looked similar to pityriasis rosea. But as of December I have had the following HIV symptoms: Main symptoms as of December 2010: - Loose Stools / Diarrhea: I have not been having normal bowel movements. I only go mostly once a day, in the morning but my stools are soft and mostly diarrheal.
But to get to the point, I have only had 3 yeast infections but they start at my clitoris and itch and burn like crazy and have found the little white stuff around the hood? My GP always told me to take thrush cream and tablet and it has seemed to work. But all doctors are full of **** and the hospitals are worse. I think the more natural stuff you put in your body the better. i wish all the best for you and hope one of us gets the answers we are looking for?
Am worried that this weakness and trembling will occur again and next time she might be in the street and will fall and hurt herself. What else could be causing these symptoms? I feel further tests need to be done, to rule out other things.
I have been going through quite a stressfull time and been quite emotional and at times there seems like theres something stuck in my throat.. i have had a throat swab done and there is no infection and i also have no pain. it is starting to get me down.. i try to bring up phelgm but nothing really comes up but clear stuff. Over the last two months I have developed a somewhat swollen tongue with a white coating and some sores. The doctor is not sure what it is. They have tested for thrush and it came back neggative. I am a very athletic person who up until March was running 7 miles a day. Now I have a difficult time walking 2-3- miles. Can you give some suggestions on what could be possibly going on here? I would love to get back to the normal healthy life style I had prior to March.
She was failure to thrive even after her surgery, she got esophageal thrush and developed obstructive sleep apnea and had tonsils and adenoids removed at 2 years old. Twice after her fundo they wanted to put in a G-tube, but I managed to get enough weight on her to avoid it both times. It was a tough couple of years, i feel for all of you going through it!!Good Luck!!
Last doctor I saw gave me medicine for oral thrush, but didn't take a culture and I've read that most cases where thrush is suspected, it isn't actually thrush. However, I do have a yeast infection so maybe it is thrush on my tongue. I've been on an antifungal (nystatin) for 2 weeks with improvement of yellow coating on tongue which returns quickly after stopping treatment and the bumps have not improved at all. I apologize for the length of this post, I'm just looking for answers.
I have also been to an ENT doctor who believes it is a result of acid reflux and prescribed prilosec and has me rinsing with baking soda. Now it has been 9 weeks and none of this seems to be curing my tongue. The doctors have told me they think it is unrelated to the girl I kissed prior to having the issue and have told me it is not contagous.
I went back to the doctor to say I think I have oral thrush and she took a look and said I didn't. I told my aunt about this who suffers with Gerd and she said it sounded like it. Now I currently just have sometimes and irritated tongue and I do constantly feel as if something is stuck in my throat (sometimes stuff comes up and other times not. Sometimes it's just normal colour but other times yellow and brown or just yellow. I get a gassy stomach which sometimes hurts because of it.
I was extremely tired but chalked it up to travel between east coast and west and stress at work; and my lymph nodes in neck were swollen but no fever. On 10-15-12 I went to my doctor and told her about the entire encounter. We tested for all STDs including HIV and everything was NEGATIVE. Then I learned about a 'Window Period' and that all STDs have one. So, the anxiety and stress began to engulf my conscious like a tsunami.
This can happen in lowered immune levels.Oral thrush can also extend in the esophagus and stomach and cause various digestive symptoms.Pls take some oral antifungal medicines after consulting a physician. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
His resting heartbeat is 55, he has low normal BP and doesn't smoke. He is now being prescribed Prilosec for stomach problems. I think it's weird to begin these problems out of the blue at age 37. Any ideas? or advice for follow up tests, etc.
If his only problem was his stomach, I wouldn't be that concerned, but he also suffers from joint pain, muscle pain, extreme fatigue, blurred vision, headaches, occasional pins and needles and 'burning', and the oddest symptom to me is that he wakes up in the mornings feeling hungover even though he's not had a drink. I keep thinking it's a food sensitivity, as he feels the worst after eating.
i also have ear congestion only in the left ear and have for months. i am taking zyrtec D and on prednisone. i also take prilosec 2 times a day because i was having stomach pains a year ago that my doctor diagnosed as silent reflux. i do NOT get heart burn though. i do get bloated in the evenings and i dont eat much. i eat small amounts at a time and i do belch after whatever i eat. i am in good shape and i know i need more protein and iron in my diet...
Then went to an ENT, He did the scope saw a little irritation and thinks i might have GERD but i took different kinds like Nexium and Prilosec, but didnt seem to help so i quit taking them.Basically doctors have no clue what im talking about so i feel out of options and stuck. If you have these problems then you know just how stressful and miserable it is because im going crazy. ANY Ideas?
prilosec, nexium) is magnesium deficiency. Constipation, anxiety, depression, IBS are just a few of the many symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Check out the article: How your antacid drug is making you sick (Part A) by Chris Kresser.
He currently is on Zantac, TPN, hydrocortizone, Zophran, prilosec, Diludid PCA pump(for pain), Vancomycin for a bacteria blood infection, levsin and flugonizal(?) for thrush. Is there anything else we should be doing besides draining his stomach and pain control? We don't see an end in site. He has had pancreatitis in the past. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
I do sometimes have stomach problems and cant' recall whether I had taken any Prilosec on the day the sample was taken. My Professor and the lab assistant (who is a registered nurse) both said they'd never seen this before in the lab. I don't have any outward signs of thrush. What could be the reason for this, and should I be concerned?
