prilosec

Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
620923 tn?1452915648 How long have you been taking prilosec and did your doctor say your AR is related to Chiari?
Avatar f tn I am at wits end with my health so any advice you can give me is appreciated... I have been acutely ill for almost a year and it's a big mystery that I can't solve, please help me... Three years ago I started noticing a significant drop in my energy. I was getting sick all the time and I started getting migraines and panic attacks. Then about a year ago I got really sick with massive acid reflux. I got an endoscopy.
Avatar n tn My daughter had decompression surgery last Oct. 2007, then in Januray 2008 had surgery to repair the patch, then in Feburary to try a diffirent kind of patch, it it tore, and finally had to have a shunt put in due to producing to much cerebral fluid. Since March she has been in the hospital 3 times for nausa and vomiting. Every time she has gone in for this her white blood cells are slightly elevated, but not enough to be put on any meds.

454221 tn?1259445739 t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. Avatar f tn He was referred to a gastroenterologist and found out that his gallbladder was not working properly and had to have surgery to remove it. You should talk to your doctor about the problem. If you do not want to go there yet try taking an other the counter (OTC) medication like Prilosec to see if it will help any.
Avatar n tn I have heard conflicting reports about the success of this type of surgery. I am 83 and have none of the classic GERD symptoms, just the arrhythmia. I have a heart murmur and the cardiologist is watching the valves bit at the moment he is not worried about my heart. Can you comment?
Avatar m tn One year ago I had a total thyroidectomy due to papillary cancer. I woke up from surgery with a very bad cough and lot's of mucous. Three days after surgery I still had the cough, mucous and I also was experiencing shortness of breath. One year later I am still experiencing all these symptoms. I have had chest x-rays and even a heart ultrasound and I was told that everything was fine. Has anyone experienced this?
Avatar f tn I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
Avatar f tn ve had 3 docs prescribe prevacid and prilosec and one who said its bad to have any. I miscarried when I wasnt on anything and the babies I've had are all fine despite the prilosec. Some docs are more cautious. My doc now is a high risk ob/gyn with experience in fetal development issues and he says its fine. Talk to your doc or a different one...its not good to be so miserable you can't eat...for you or baby.
Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar m tn I had indeed bleeding issues spent a long, long time in the hospital. Recently I had to have a foot surgery and was taken off Plavix a week before the surgery, but was advised to stay on 81mg aspirin as I have significant heart trouble. With just the aspirin, I had to wear an ankle cuff during the foot surgery to suppress the bleeding.
Avatar n tn It came on really quickly and the doctor has me on Prilosec and antacids after meals and at bedtime, and she just added viscous lidocaine solution to numb the esophagus. I'm eating a low acidic diet and combining my foods properly. Has anyone out there had this terrible thing and if so, any other suggestions?
485028 tn?1222129602 6 weeks after my thyroid surgery I had a terrible pressure and it turned out I had an infected cyst which ruptured and nobody ever knew about the cyst but after it ruptured my body produced scar tissue around the cyst and it grew and grew inward pressing on my trachea and was completely missed during the surgery and was removed 6 weeks later (about 1.5cm's) totally benign ... so I know what that pressure on the trachea feels like ... you just want to rip something out.
446335 tn?1223948356 I did have an endoscopy in 2/06 and dx as esophageal stricture (which they dilated) and GERD. I have been taking prilosec for yrs. and don't have heartburn any more. Just mainly these terribly painful attacks. Let me know what you find out. I've been discussing these and other problems on this forum under the question about bloating and shortness of breath with boron. Have gotten some really useful info. Check it out and see if any of it sounds familiar. Let me know. Good luck!
Avatar m tn but I had surgery and the meds/drugs used for surgery caused a flare and this time the prilosec did not work and I am on a RX strenght of pepcid which is working great.I am slowly cutting back on the meds and with diet again I know I will be med free. If after a month u feel no improvement ask ur dr to re evaluate the meds .......
Avatar n tn My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
Avatar f tn My main symptom at the time was numbness in my arms and legs and fatigue. Chiari fit since I also had neck and shoulder pain. I had decompression surgery in 2011. The neck pain has gone away and for some time there was an increase in energy, a slight increase. Initially the numbness went away too. But the numbness has come back and is pretty constant now. Since then I have been tested for Neuropathy, we found none, 2013.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar f tn No spicy foods, not eating anyting real solid 3 to 4 hours before sleeping except maybe a popcile. Trying to lose weight and exercise and trying to lay off the caffeine and carbonated bevereges(which is extremly hard for me but Im doing it.) I havent been able to nail an actual flare up food, it seems I'm nausous off and on all the time.
Avatar f tn This is very strange and maybe just a fluke but tonight I took a Prilosec otc and within about an hour my IC symptoms had subsided and are still gone now 4 hrs later......could there really be a connection????
Avatar n tn Im seeing a Allergy/Astmia Specialist he's the one that gave me Antibiotic I'm on know, was seen at Urgent care this Past weekend,They said I was Dehydated & to stop taking my Antihistamine & Sudafed...So know on Docy & Nasal Spay & Albterol & Prilosec & Geufensen...yeah since I started taking prilosec,I dont have to use Athmia meds as much....my Astmis Specialist said I'll have to See ENT if doesn't get better, soon.
Avatar f tn I have constant GERD. I have been treated with Prilosec for 8 years, and the amount has had to be increased several times over the years. I am now taking 40 mg of Prilosec in the morning and 40 mg Prilosec in the evening. This has not been helping me, so I am now also taking Zantac 150 mg h.s. in addition to the 40 mg of Prilosec b.i.d. The head of my bed is on 2 x 4s to keep it elevated, and I sleep on 3 pillows at night.
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
