Prilosec and kidney disease

Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec and kidney disease

prilosec

Avatar f tn My 4 year old Rotty mix, Volk, was just diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease last week. I know his chances are slim, but he is a little warrior. I've been looking into different diets and supplements that can help. He has always been a special needs dog because of the abuse caused by his previous owners. I know he will always need extra care, but my little man wants to run and play with everyone else. He is currently on antibiotics, anti-nausea, prilosec, sub q fluids, and a renal diet.
Avatar m tn I have read warnings about kidney disease being associated with the long term use of PPIs. I have to take Prilosec for another 3 weeks. Any insights or guidance will be appreciated.

Avatar m tn My father haws a history of stomach issues and kidney issues. I am wondering if I may have Cileac disease? I also have tingling in my abodomen area as well as my kidney area at times. I just cant pinpoint what casues it. I hope you have some suggestions that may help and guide me to a solution.
Avatar f tn Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar n tn s could result in chronic kidney failure, among other things like dementia and heart disease. This made me really take this odd kidney pain serious, and although not serious itself at the moment in terms of pain level and consistency, I believe my body is warning me.
Avatar f tn So, knowing that, I took the approach of making sure I always had some food handy to eat and that has helped quite a lot. If I had full blown acid reflux disease I would have chosen to take the Prilosec. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I had a friend whose only symptom was terrible heartburn. She had advanced Celiac disease. She was anemic and low in vitamin D and other vitamins and minerals. I think it took 3 months for her to get relief, but she did stop having heartburn. Every time she tries to eat gluten, the heartburn comes right back. And yes, having Celiac disease affects nutrition and you need enzymes sometimes, I think.
Avatar m tn You have Reflux and you continue to drink? That is crazy IMHO.
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn I have taken a prilosec equivalent here in Australia for quite a few years. It and other meds such as Losec (Australian name for Prilosec) and Pariet are proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs.
Avatar f tn She was just Rx Cerenia and it’s not even helping. She’s also on Prilosec and Remeron to help her GI tract and get her eating. But it hasn’t. I’ve made everything for her to eat but nothing. I just bought that Adozyl and the powder that goes with it. I haven’t tried the powder yet because not eating. Even getting hard taking her pills. Don’t know what to do then. I’m so sad. She’s my first dog as an adult and has been so intuitive with everything I’ve gone through.
Avatar f tn I am 22 and have just found out I have kidney disease. I do not want to tell my family, because I know they wouldn't deal with it very well. Is it likely to be easy keeping this from them (I live with them)? I am considering not receiving any treament for now to make extra certain family don't find out.
Avatar m tn s very little chance of recieving a persciption for the better medications ( I feel that the Nexium worked better than Prilosec, and that Aciphex worked better than both). the greasy, acidic, and overall bad for you foods must be cut out. these foods with irritate existing conditions and/or create new ones if it's GERD or gastritis. good luck, and i hope everything gets better for you soon.
Avatar f tn I have an appt with a GI doctor in 2 weeks to arrange an endoscopy and biopsy to confirm eosinopiles in the esophogus. I have found some relief with Allerest and Prilosec. Not eating after 3pm seems to help with the nightime attacks of heartburn. I will keep you posted.

Avatar f tn Hi there, about a month and a half ago I started feeling like something was always under both my ribs and it has been persistently like this and it's really uncomfortable, I'm also always itchy at night and have been feeling really dizzy and lightheaded constantly. I've went to my doctors and they took my bloods and all that came up was that my potassium levels were slightly high.

Avatar f tn Hi recently I had pain on my adominal, usually the pain is on the right upper abdomen and the pain seem to move to lower left and right. I haven't did my kidney function test yet but I already did liver function test and my ALT is 9 U/L does this low ALT indicate that I have kidney issues?
387767 tn?1345872027 Be sure to discuss all recommended vaccines with your veterinarian. A cat with kidney disease or kidney failure should not be vaccinated at all. Long-term feeding of an all-dry-food diet is also suspected as a factor in Chronic Renal Failure. Cats' kidneys are highly efficient and adapted to life in the desert, where they would get most or all of their water from eating their prey.
Avatar f tn Im very sick and cant get anyone to help. Ive even had a dr tell me he wont diagnose me with kidney disease until I get insurance so I got insurance and they denied coverage before he even diagnosed me. I then had to quit working due to illness. Now Ive got no job and no insurance and no help. What do all these results mean? Whats the next step? Who will help me?
Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Avatar n tn I would encourage both of you to talk with his endocrinologist about looking into possible changes that can bring his a1c levels well down below 7. That truly is his best protection not only against kidney disease, but against other complications. If sugar levels are maintained at near normal levels, damage cannot happen.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?
