For the last few months ive had pain in my left side under the ribs that radiates to the right side. Very tnder to touch, pain also radiates through my back Just got diagnosed with IBS. The pain is constant and always tender anyone else have this? Would love some feedback.
I also just started taking Bentyl 10mg dont know if its working yet only had 2 doses so far. I just want the pain and tenderness to go away.
Because of my remote location, a trip to the ENT was very expensive and I declined to go. Eventually it did clear up and heal and go away, and I went on with my life.
Fast forward to last week, I've been feeling a bit stressed and noticed my heart burn and IBS acting up a bit. I did basically nothing for it, hoping it would just go away. The post nasal drip / throat clearing and dysphagia started again a few days ago.
I researched my symptoms on the internet and came across IBS.. I figured that that was what i had so i started ordering teas and peppermint capsules so that my sypmtoms could be relieved, but nothing seemed to help..( I did try a colon cleanser for like a month that helped relieve my symptoms for about 2 months, It was a 3 month treatment but i stopped after a month because it put to much strain on my stomach..
I have seen a number of doctors for my concerns and they simply have no answers for me except IBS. I beleive I dony have IBS. My symptoms are Immediate pain some time sharp and sometimes dull when I eat pretty much anything just below the rib cage dirrectly in the middle where I beleive the esophigus dumps into the stomach. Also I have some pain in what feels like the bottom of my stomach just above the belly button and somtimes on either sides.
This can be a side effect of Prilosec which is a good medication to treat acidity, IBS, GERD etc. Hence you can stop this and see if your symptoms subside. There are other medicines available which you can try.

Hi, I am 38 years old and I had horrible acid reflux problem for over a year.
The only thing that worked for me is "lily of the desert stomach formula" Its basically an Aloe Vera supplement. I have taken Prilosec for indigestion and IBS for the last year, it helps, but seems to wear off before I am suppose to take it again. I use to get pains in my upper chest after eating and a friend in med school told me I may have an acid problem where it leaks into my lungs and burns them. I cant recall the name of the condition, but the Prilosec seemed to stave off the pain, I started using the Prilosec shortly after she told me.
No blood in stool, no vomiting, no shoulder pain, no nausea, rare mild heartburn. I was diagnosed with IBS 15 yrs ago, but my IBS presents as LRQ pain.
Tests within the last 5mo:
1) Two rounds of bloodwk - CMP, amylase, lipase, CBC - all normal
2) Abdominal ultrasound - normal
3) HIDA scan with EF - normal (50%). Some pressure/pinching in URQ after the CCK injection but didn’t really reproduce my symptoms. Infused over 30mins.
4) Upper endoscopy: Biopsies showed mild irritation in stomach.
I have Gerd, and IBS.. have had it for years and years. Most of the time, the prilosec manages the Acid reflux. My IBS acts up often but if I watch what I eat, its manageable. The past few months off and on, I get a rumbly stomach, and very gassy at times. But what concerns me is the off and on pain on the upper right side and left side too.. almost under my breastbone, but seems to be upper stomach? Its sharp but doesn't stay all day... off and on...
Pylori negative in stool and blood. Ova and parasite clear and clean. Seems that it is largely tied to a meal/snack and frequent in morning (but not always). Lactose withholding does not seem to help (can eat ice cream just fine). Negative for celiac disease (but potential to confirm via endoscopy). Pediatric Gastroenterologist wants to do an endoscopy for reflux, esophigitis, or ulcer per above. Has ruled out gall or pancreas based on labs normal.
I have both IBS and acid reflux and easily get a sore stomach. I am taking 15 mg of Previcid daily and have been for a long time. If I stop taking it I get queasy and end up with a sore stomach. Is it safe to take Previcid every day and what do you think causes the sore stomach? Also I am wondering if taking Previcid every day causes a loss of nutrients from the vitamins I take?
The Prilosec seems to help the morning IBS because it is definitely worse and more frequent when the Prilosec is overlooked the noght before.
We guess this problem may be related to the STRESS and ANXIETY of readying for the day. He is a CD student in special education with other anxiety related behaviors and is also physically impaired with a right side hypertonation. So the morning routine is nothing close to routine.
We would appreciate any directional help on this.

,Also last year I was treated for silent reflux with prilosec over a four month period (no heart skips) and I started taking prilosec again two weeks ago thinking it might be digestive? Should have taken effect by now though.My yearly cardio checkup isn't scheduled until February next year. Any thoughts?

Last summer I developed s dry cough and shortness of breath. In November Doc put me on 40 mg Prilosec one daily and it causes me to feel terrible, anxious etc. we changed to 20mg 2x daily and Zantac 150 1x daily and the cough resolves within a week but I had globus, phlegm, sore throat...typical LPR symptoms. GI doc did an upper endoscopy in January that looked pretty normal with the exception of candida on the 6 areas she biopsies.

About 10 years ago I was told I have acid reflux, IBS and anxiety, not a great combination. I was taking Prilosec and Prosac but was taken off the prosac. I never had any severe issues until a few weeks ago. My anxiety got the better of me and I started the prosac again. Then last week I had diarrhea all week about twice a day. Now three days ago I woke up with bad gas pains that now have gone into gas pains with diarrhea.
I HAVE HAD LUPUS SINCE THE AGE OF 15 AND I AM NOW 25- MY LUPUS HAS BEEN IN REMISSION FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS NOW, BUT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PERSISTENT VOMITING AND DIARRHEA FOR THE PAST 2 MNTHS. i HAVE BROUGHT IT UP TO MY DR AND HE STATES THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH LUPUS CAN DEVELOP STOMACH ULCERS, ESPECIALLY IN MY CASE, SINCE I HAVE TAKEN PREDNISONE FOR 10 YEARS+.
Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
So it makes me think both Gerd and IBS are doing their magic. The Dr. put me on prilosec 40 mg 2x a day, and dicylomine for spasms of my stomach which really doesn't work at times. So I have been trying gas x instead which honest to God works better to stop the gas and rumbling and pain that associates with it. Then he told me to take mirilax to help me go and it works.. So what confuses me is should I be taking this, or metamuscil fiber/lots of water to make my bowels work!! ???
