prilosec

Avatar f tn I am concerned about calcium absorption and bone loss and would like to wean from it. Is bone loss a legitimate concern? My last bone density showed osteopenia. This discussion is related to Weaning Off Prilosec.
Avatar n tn Nexium itself does not cause bone loss, but it may decrease the absorption of drugs and vitamins. Nexium may decrease the absorption of calcium and vitamin D leading to bone loss.
1346429 tn?1303874854 I am currently taking aldomet(BP), metformin, colace, fish oil, prilosec, prenatal, and calcium, I took everything but the aldomet and the calcium before I found out I was preggo and they said it was ok to keep going with them,. Why did they stop your meds?
Avatar m tn I thought maybe the PVCs were lower because I also started taking the Nexium every other day (to save money and also to reduce my risk of calcium and B vitamin loss). But maybe the sea salt has something to do with it also.

Avatar n tn He put me on zoloft and prilosec, and told me I had FHH..... I did some research on FFH and now I know I do not have FFH as it is hereditary and extremely rare...My doctor didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about when he told me I had it anyway. Later on the heartburn got better, but I started getting weird flanking pains on the left side, and abdominal pains toward the left side. Before this I had a upper GI endoscopy to check for GERD.
679466 tn?1247006054 Prilosec and Nexium Heartburn can be uncomfortable, but heart attacks can be fatal, which is why the FDA has investigated a suspected link between cardiac trouble and the acid-reflux remedies Prilosec and Nexium. In December 2007, the agency concluded that there was no "likely" connection. Translation: The scientific jury is still out. In the meantime, there are other reasons to be concerned.
Avatar n tn For acid reflux sleep on your left side. Not your right. And drink some Almond milk for calcium. The calcium will make your acid stomach issues go away. You are low in calcium. Again drink lots of water for your kidneys please. God bless. And drink Almond milk for calcium and your acid problems will go away.
Avatar f tn What are the blood values for BUN, creatinine, phosphorus, calcium, potassium and white cells? What is the urine specific gravity results? What are you feeding (full details please)? Has a blood pressure check been undertaken? How long since first diagnosis of kidney disease? What medications are being given? How old is your dog? What symptoms are there?
Avatar n tn Yes, I’ve been experiencing heartburn and Prilosec, none of those pills help.. Tums is my go to, but they do contain a lot of calcium.
Avatar m tn Also of concern is a weight loss from 198 to 192 in a week and a half. The vomiting and diet change might be the main reason, but I am still watching it, and concerned with how fast it changed. I am also still exercising regularly. I am wondering at what point I should consider seeing my GI doctor for an endoscopy or other tests. I understand this is probably GERD, hiatal hernia, gastritis or gastroparesis.
Avatar n tn m having a problem with my MOTILITY and said a couple of calcium channel blockers could cure it. When I went back to my family Physician, he told me that the test resulted to PRESBYESOPHAGUS . He just said it's chronic and it will take time for me to be cured but never given me anything at all. I told him I was told by the radiologist to take calcium channel blockers so that leads him to refer me to a gastroenterologist.
Avatar m tn Stools are inconsistent with some being normal and the next being soft, some float, some diarrhea. Went to my doc and first put me on Prilosec otc, which didn't seem to help. Went back to him and ordered abdominal ultrasound, blood work CBC, CRP and CMP, everything came back normal. My mind keeps thinking the worst.
Avatar n tn Acid-reducer medications such as Prilosec, Nexium, Zantac, Prevacid, and others are available at any pharmacy. I have GERT, and I had an ulcer. I take one Prilosec, 20-mg, a day with no pain. Prilosec OTC, is 10-mg, is a good start. Take two if you later think you need it.. If I take two Prilosec, 20-mg, I get dry-mouth, so I only need one for 24 hours. Judge whether a capsule or tablet suits you, then decide whether you think you do not need to see a doctor.
1437406 tn?1283839310 I'm also 37 and we're having our first. I have acid reflux and usually take prilosec but my doctor changed me to ranitidine. Tums also helps. Dr. said NO Pepto Bismol. How far along is your wife?
Avatar n tn s not okay to cut ties with calcium, because calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth. Kale is rich in calcium so you can get some, there, but not nearly enough. Cheese and yogurt, both, have calcium, too. Most foods taste much better and are more fun to eat if you add herbs and spices, which have no calories. Most any herbs and spices but salt can be added calorie free... well, salt doesn't have calories, but it does cause fluid retention.
Avatar f tn I am a 62 year old female but I avoid large doses of calcium after getting kidney stones, therefore I got a multi that only has 200 mg calcium and 100 mg magnesium. I think I will try supplementing with a little more magnesium till I can get myself off the prilosec.
221122 tn?1323011265 Well, you guys know that my PVCs are back. I take fish oil and Cal/Mg. They were gone for so long that it was very nice.....mmmm. THEN they came back. Anyway, I noticed that it was about a week after I started taking Prilosec every day. Then I didn't take it for a day or two and they got a lot better. I took it again....back. Stopped...they calmed. Yesterday I didn't take it and I had a decent day. I am going to ride this one out.

Avatar n tn My OB doesn't allow tums but recommender Prilosec. I had heartburn to the point of throwing up with my daughter and this time it's almost as bad. And Prilosec knocks it out in a day and it never comes back as long as I don't stop taking it. Try tracking for a day or two what foods you are eating and you might notice certain ones making it worse.
Avatar n tn It turns out the problem was really my stomach, perhaps too much acid. Prilosec and Calcium Carbonate have helped immensely. Hope this helps someone.... This discussion is related to Bad Odor In Nose.
