Common Questions and Answers about Prilosec and beer

prilosec

Avatar n tn pylori and now developed GERD and Acid Reflux because of the long term use of prilosec.. I cannot stop taking the prilosec because the acid and chest pain come back times a million, and i cant eat really anything anymore.. I did not have any problems with acid or chest pains or not being able to eat until i started taking the prilosec.. I really think that if i wasnt having any symptoms then why give someone some for symptoms there not having, just to make them worse in the end..
Avatar n tn I have had this feeling of a golf ball in my throat for years now and it feels like I am constantly swallowing mucus. The ENT doctor said I had reflux and percribed me Prilosec 20mg twice a day. I didn't feel like It was helping so I stopped it. Saturday night I was drinking beer and all of a sudden I couldn't drink anymore. My throat felt like someone was holding a match up to it. Keep in mind this is all at the base of my esophogus not my upper throat.
Avatar f tn Fried and fatty meats, citrus products, and high acid foods like tomatoes are the usual suspects. In my case, beer and carbonated products bothered me greatly before GERD surgery.
Avatar f tn Almost 2 months ago, after a particularly boozy bachelorette party, I started having severe acid reflux and regurgitation, as well as nausea and diarrhea. My doctor ran blood tests, and my pancreatic enzymes were slightly elevated (I can remember one was at 108.) My nausea was mild, but the reflux was severe. I felt like something was stuck in my throat, and I would cough up I digested food hours after I had eaten it. I had no stomach pain, or any pain at all.
Avatar n tn All this actually started several months ago. My symptoms are rather scattered as well. I was drinking a lot for a while and I switched to bud light lime. After drinking that for about a month I woke up in the middle of the night and had some weird sort of attack. I was sick to my stomach, had horrible heartburn, shoot I can't even remember all the symptoms. It was just bad.
Avatar n tn Sometime I take double dosage of prilosec to try and help but most the prilosec makes stomach feel worse. I cant seem to get this under control at all. It is becoming disruptive everyday now. Any help would be appreciated. Thank-you.
Avatar m tn A small umbilical hernia recently appeared also a few months ago, which grew a little. I have GERD and have been taking Prilosec for a month, after experiencing burning right upper quadrant pain, which was not fully relived by TUMS tablets; the Prilosec took the burning sensation away. My discomfort sometimes disappears for hours and then returns.
454221 tn?1259445739 t know the effects of take prilosec now? Does anyone know about prilosec and pregnancy? Is it safe to take or is there something else out there better. I have a doctors appt. on Thursday and hate waiting to know if prilosec is safe or not. I'm going to try and not take it till I see the doctor.
Avatar f tn I could only tolerate bread, pasta and no meat at all.. also 7 up with ice cream and root beer floats.. macaroni and cheese all carb heavy but we seem to tolerate them the best.. Sure hope she feels better soon.
Avatar f tn I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
Avatar f tn ve had 3 docs prescribe prevacid and prilosec and one who said its bad to have any. I miscarried when I wasnt on anything and the babies I've had are all fine despite the prilosec. Some docs are more cautious. My doc now is a high risk ob/gyn with experience in fetal development issues and he says its fine. Talk to your doc or a different one...its not good to be so miserable you can't eat...for you or baby.
Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar m tn I have had all tests done, and have been perscribed 8+ medications to try and help, and still nothing. I dont drink much alcohol due to my age and if I do, its beer, which upsets my stomach for a short time and then usually feels better. Please someone help. I cant keep dealing with this.
Avatar n tn My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar f tn No spicy foods, not eating anyting real solid 3 to 4 hours before sleeping except maybe a popcile. Trying to lose weight and exercise and trying to lay off the caffeine and carbonated bevereges(which is extremly hard for me but Im doing it.) I havent been able to nail an actual flare up food, it seems I'm nausous off and on all the time.
Avatar f tn This is very strange and maybe just a fluke but tonight I took a Prilosec otc and within about an hour my IC symptoms had subsided and are still gone now 4 hrs later......could there really be a connection????
Avatar m tn I'm a 28 year old male who during his 20's drank beer heavily, 8-12 a night majority of time, breaks here and there of weeks to months, only beer no hard stuff. Anyways recently (don't know why it has taken so long) have started to be concerned about my liver health. I went to dr and told him of my excessive intake so he ordered lab workups. Liver enzymes were ALT 89 AST 35 BILLIRUBIN 1.7 ALK PHOS 69.
Avatar m tn and told me if the pain stayed after 3 days to make another appointment with him which i ended up doing At the doctors again he told me that my right tonsil was swollen and to finish the last of the antibodies and also to start taking prilosec OTC cause the throat pain could be caused from acid reflux which i did have but very rarely. and if the throat pain is still there to go see an ENT. SO I finished the antibodies and took the prilosec for a week then stopped!
Avatar m tn I stop eating food three hours before I go to bed, and I do not drink beer after 1 PM. Since I am not diabetic, I have not considered I could have a problem with my pancreas. There is a website with information on digestive and kidney diseases(and pancreatitis) that the National Institutes of Health sponsor. Perhaps you can find some helpful information. I take one Prilosec, 20 mg(prescribed); Prilosec ,10 mg is sold OTC at any pharmacy. Here is the website: http:digestive.niddk.gov.
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar m tn I am 25 years old and had been a binge beer drinker on the weekends for about 5 years until I stopped after having many issues. In March of this year I began to have stomach issues with throwing up blood and having black stools. I have been to the ER five times in the last three months along with countless visits to my doctor and GI specialists. I have had IV contrast ct scans of abdomen and chest, two X-rays of chest, and an endoscopy, many ekg tests, a stress test and blood work.
