i to had that about 25 years ago, i had lots stomack problems with it , like hurt but my most was i had lots air in chest. burps but the air never went away. i was on meds for a month and drank pep (pink stuff) 1/2 cup every night it help kill it and it got better , there are times i still think i get it when i have days of burps and air in chest.
no i never had the bleeding with mine or mucus, i wouldcall dr.
ve heard Prevpac (which is a combination of 2 antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin + an antiacid medicine) has some nasty side effects...Has anyone been on it? If so, what was your experience like? She is apprehensive about taking antibiotics, but her doctor wants her to heal the ulcer (which is sizable).
MY point is that if you can control your indigestion with drugs that seldom have difficult side effects, you may be better off taking them. Certainly, it is your choice.
There are measures that Selma, Moderator of this board suggests that help. They include raising the head of the bed about six inches so acid remains in the stomach. Avoid eating for three hours before sleeping, and never lie down right after eating.
If you do take PPI's, take them EXACTLY as prescribed.
The dry skin and dry mouth may be side effects from the PrevPak, which continues Prevacid and two antibiotics.
Repeating the breath tests can be considered to ensure eradication of the H Pylori. The PrevPak is not 100 percent, so if the bacteria remains, another antibiotic regimen should be considered.
I would also consider an upper endoscopy if the symptoms continue.

I was hoping you guys could help me.I was having some minor stomach issues. swallowing was a little hard, so I went to the DR. We did a endoscope. He found: H. Pylori associated moderate chronic gastritis with some signs of intestinal metaplasia. Right now I'm taking the Prevpac (triple therapy) for the bacterium. Will this type of gastritis eventually resolve itself when the bacterium is removed?
I have chest pains on the left side sometimes and I cant sit still at times. I had gasteritus but I finished my pills (prevpac). I have tightness in my left shoulder and it has a little lumb on the bottom of the shoulder. I have discomfort in my whole body and cant find relief.
on 9th Day of Prevpac, I have noticed my pee sometimes get considerably yellow and foamy. After I pee there is a slight burn at the end of the urethra.. I am not sure if this is a UTI or just symptoms effects of other things.
The doctor prescribed Prevpac. This medicine is very strong and always have bad taste in my mouth. Now I have been taking this medicine for five days. I still feel pain in the stomach especially in the early morning time close to 5 am. My question is if I am having pain due to the bacteria then by taking this medicne when should I start feeling comfortable. Could it be I have some other condition?
After reading everyones comments, I am relief that I did not take the Prevpac. As for the Flagyl, my side effects are loss of appetite, weight loss, this huge loud gurgling noise in my stomach is my coworkers can hear, and being tired. Now the GI doctor wants me to take the Prevpac along with the Flagyl. I'm thinking NOT. I never had stomach problems, just occassional heartburn after too much spicy food and/or tequilla.

The pain he describes is soreness,tenderness,burning and stabing like sharp pain in his abdomen and back and sometimes in his side. He had bloodtests,ultrasound,ct scan and finally endoscopy with biopsy. The ultrasound and ct scan just found fatty liver but the endoscopy did show Acute and Chronic gastritis due to H Pylori bacteria. He has been in sever pain and unable to work some days due to the pain. Also the pain seems to get worse towards the end of the day. He is miserable and frustrated.
I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.
Yes, I've only been on it a week and I experience the muscle aches and bilateral flank pain as well. In addition, insomnia!
THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY BEFORE I FOUND YOU GUY. SIDE EFFECTS MUCH MORE THAN WE HAD BEEN LED TO BELIEVE.PERSONALLY HAVE THE BLURRY VISION, ENHANCED JOINT PAIN, SWEATS, AND SLEEP NOT GOOD. FINALLY SAW FEED BACK FROM THE COMMUNITY THAT VERIFIED OTHERS FEELING SAME. ANYONE FEELING ANYTHING ELSE ODD? PLEASE POST. ALSO HAVE BLOATING, IRRITABILITY. AND CONTRARY TO WHAT DOCTORS SAY, I'M ALWAYS CONSTIPATED.
Hi. I am on week 60/72, second round of treatment. I was really really sick after shot for first few months and then this resolved and became tolerable at least. I now find that I am having these same significant side effects later in tx. This didn't happen last round, but I went 48 then. Anyone else have this happen?
